I'm gonna go out on a massive limb here, but Yuki is the first RB academy driver that will stick as a teammate for Max. It would be foolish of RBR to resign Checo to a new contract. So you let Checo run out the string, and in '25, with the proper seasoning, Yuki steps into that seat. I also think that Yuki has the kind of temperament that wouldn't back down to Max. @@Duval-In-The-Wall Lance's career is different than Yuki's. In quite a few ways I'd say. Lance has been in the sport since 2017 iirc, while Yuki only entered in 2021. Man it’s almost like drivers need time to get comfortable in the fastest and hardest to drive cars and racing series in the world Shocking? I’m glad Yuki is doing well now though
It is good to see Yuki finally coming into his own. I beat the Yuki drum back when he was in F3 when he was doing some pretty stunning things with that Jenzer team. If you added together the points of all the other drivers who have raced for Jenzer from 2019 to the end of 2022 it would be less than the total Tsunoda scored in that one season. That’s how poor that team is. He was very underprepared for F1 however and it showed in the first year. In 2022 however he was clawing it back, and in the final half of the season from Spa onwards he was a match for Gasly. He has actually been in the battle for points at every race from Japan onwards with the one exception of Brazil. That has been his one bad race in the passed 12 races just to further expand on how consistent he has been as of late.
Ever since they forced him on campus. They put him on a workout regiment, and started to REALLY mold him into a phenomenal athlete first, Tsunoda's has started to belive that he is as quick as these other drivers. Stand him up next to guys like Esteban, or Mich, and Guanyu. His trajectory is in a league of it's own. Easy to argue with him in a quick car he will score podiums. Helps that he probably brings a GRIP of money to the team with backing from ALL of CHINA!
Before, he admitted he wasn't serious enough to be a part of F1 and he was just enjoying racing without taking anything seriously and when he realized he got to F1. And now he completely stopped playing video games😀
Yuki's had an amazing few races recently (even his Mexican GP disaster was still a P12 finish when he started in P18. And he has single-handedly moved Alpha Tauri past Haas in the championship standings. (LL+DR have lifted them further up the standings, past Alfa Romeo into 8th). P9 in Brazil main race, P6 in Brazil sprint, P8 at Austin. His head to head with Liam and then Ricciardo continues his domination at Alpha Tauri. He's at the level where he could honestly challenge for a podium in these last two races. (The car has also been improved considerably, showing that AT's languishing at the bottom of the Championship was never his fault.) And 2024? It's gonna be glorious.
He has a less skilled team mate this year though, so some of the points made like all the points scored being by him are somewhat expected but it's good to see him improving.
I think, in a counter intuitive way, his honesty is what (for me) makes him likeable. As to his admission about his being unprepared for F1, that sort of thing has been talked about by numerous drivers from different generations. Take Jenson Button for example, like Tsunoda he drove his debut season in a good car, the Williams, that (it could be said) masked his lack of experience. He admitted years later that at 20 years old, he wasn't ready for F1. However, both the not putting too much pressure on him and flashes of what he was capable of meant that Frank Williams and Patrick Head were overall impressed with how he handled his debut season, coming 8th in the standings and his standout drive being a 4th place finish in Hockenheim after a back of the grid start (displaying that mixed weather condition feel that would define his later career). But, it was driving a dreadful Benetton and having a far less supportive team boss in Flavio Briatore in 2001 that could have spelled doom for his career. In his book, he admitted to not getting on with Briatore, who would criticise Button, publicly, for poor performance, which would make Button anxious to perform, which in turn only made his performance worse. It became a viscious cycle. Despite his finishing 2001 a dismal 17th in the standings with only a fifth place at Hockenheim (through a race of attrition) to show for his work, he greatly improved for 2002 with the team rebadged as Renault. Although he was shocked to be shown the door by the team in favour of Alonso, it was clear, by the way what was then BAR greeted him on his first day, that he was going to a team that hadn't forgotten his standout performances from the past. The rest, as they say, is history
Honestly thinking about it. If Checo Retires in 2024 (i doubt that he will anytime soon, but let's say he does for this scenario) I see him being one of the top canadates for that RB seat. Him and max do have good chemistry and I'm not sure if they want to put daniel and max back together after last time. But I think Max has matured, and it would be a fantastic partnership.
I honestly think that Yuki's performance increased a lot thanks to Franz Tost. Frank really wanted to give Yuki the chance to improve and was supporting him real hard. He knew that Yuki has the potential and that if he polishes up his mentality and increase his physical strength that he would improve. After Frank and Gasly left, I think that got Yuki to want to improve himself more and just be better. I generally just like Yuki and want him to succeed in his F1 career
Concerning drivers who got comparable car quality in their rookie seasons, you forgot Norris in 2019 with the MCL34 which was easily the 4th best car Just a minor nitpick though, great video!

As well as P9 in Monaco if his brakes didn't die and P10 in Spain if it was just a position swap like in past seasons. Also in Spain his lap was deleted, so he dropped from starting P11 to P15
This is also why I’m not getting on at Sargent too much, it takes time to shine
Remember when Helmut wrote Yuki off before the season started, saying that DeVries would be coming in as a team leader!...
With Honda returning as engine supplier to Aston Martin, I bet they would love to have a driver from Japan .
Even if he (narrowly) misses on points, Marko will definitely see beyond that. Yuki has been driving fantastically well in that shitbox this season and I'm sure he's gonna get that leading driver contract for Alpha Tauri next year. De Vries will probably get replaced by Lawson.
If Yuki improves even further next year, then Perez will be in trouble.
We need a video on gasly his performances haven’t been the same since 2021
Edit: and one about alpine they seem to be the 5th best team every season and I want them at some point to do what Aston Martin did this season
Thanks for the great stuff! This season is so boring, I hope Max will be crowned champion early and Yuki or Daniel will test on the RB for the rest of the races.
Yuki is carrying the full weight of AT in his shoulders. I like the massive improvement and how he puts that tractor in points or near them.
Yuki is a massive talent- he has matured as a driver and deserves a faster car
Tsunoda is such an underrated driver!
yuki deserves the rb seat
I've never been happier to have bought Tsunoda stock back in 2021
I really hope AT starts building a competitive car for next year.
His "language" during races was probably a language barrier than hot headedness
The sport psychologist also plays factor to his improvement. It really helped him and it showed on his performance
This is a great video, and Yuki is do a lot of credit for his improvement
I love yukis radio tbh, it honestly just sounds real sometimes you do just wanna say "i fucking know" to people. Its just very human.
i think we can all agree that if we wanted to see anyone finish in the points, ITS YUKI
Ive written off Yuki after year one, and didnt pay enough heed to his improvements last year, so I basically wrote him off as the next failed driver that somehow got lucky to hold a seat, but the last few races Ive finally noticed how much hes been outperforming his machine, absolute flipping my opinion of him on its head. Im really hoping he keeps it up. His ceiling could be very well hgiher than we expect.
lets see if yall give Logan the same patience you continue to give to Tsunoda
Very happy for him. I was nervous coming into this season, considering the pressure (and all-or-nothingness of it)
This was a Masterclass not only in F1 analysis, but also in sports presentation in this format. I didn't have to have seen any F1 to fully grasp the content. This was really really good.
And I I agree and disagree with your opinion, it's not just Yuki who's showing signs of brilliance this season; he knows he has to perform, at this juncture. To me, it's more panic than maverick... maybe I'm wrong..like you said, it's all or nothing plus nyck is the new g.o.a.t. .
Redbull was harsh on him from the gecko. He was told to retire racing if he failed in F2 on his rookie air. He is mentally strong now and has raw talent. Redbull has made monster Yuki
Never been so excited for a raw talent since Kimi.
His penalty at Spain was criminal
I respect you Aldas but....
YALL BEEN SLEEPING ON MY BOI LETS GO YUKI
Also the idea he underperformed in his rookie season thats to be expected most rookies struggle
But in his second season if you look at his advanced numbers he was alot better then points finishes show.
The biggest one was his average deficit to his team mate in qualifying.
We'll see how it all plays out!
Yuki's steady improvement next to Gasly makes me wonder how much he might flourish with Max setting the bar. Really hope we get to see him in the RB
Max would thrash the ever-loving fuck out of Tsunoda, keep in mind this guy gets beaten by Gasly, and we all know what Max did to him
Let’s see him with a better driver for a teammate first
@@Duval-In-The-Wall that is obvious, as a yuki fan. Max would definitely destroy him. Even if yuki improved and get the rbr seat in 2025. But give him 2years with max and it will be a little closer.
@@planetarian451
People hype Yuki to the hilt and I genuinely will never get it, 14th and 17th in his two seasons, yet to beat Lance Stroll in the standings, and was an active detriment to his team’s constructors position two seasons in row
9th last season was pathetic, as was a 12-race streak without points for him, which included plenty of mistakes
2 points finishes and a bunch of 11ths is enough to make everyone go crazy, when this is literally what fucking Stroll was doing last season
@@Duval-In-The-Wall Lance's career is different than Yuki's. In quite a few ways I'd say.
Lance has been in the sport since 2017 iirc, while Yuki only entered in 2021. The AM car is getting better and the AT car is getting worse. Lance's father owns the team, while Yuki has to perform (or he will possibly get replaced by Iwasa). Finishing in the middle of the table with the almost worst car on the grid is indeed something to give credits to.
Bruh watch Gasly and Yuki again in alphine make me smile lol
Man it’s almost like drivers need time to get comfortable in the fastest and hardest to drive cars and racing series in the world
Shocking?
I’m glad Yuki is doing well now though
Top 3 driver this season, only behind Verstappen and Alonso
i fucking love yuki
And he's improved even more so far in 2024 we only 4 races in and he's best of the rest in the midfield
Thanks for bringing up the car regression. Super weird to see a rookie's equipment go backwards so much lol
If his DRS hadn’t failed in Baku 2022, Yuki would have been level with Gasly on points
Unappreciated RUclipsr 🐐
Ever since they forced him on campus. They put him on a workout regiment, and started to REALLY mold him into a phenomenal athlete first, Tsunoda's has started to belive that he is as quick as these other drivers. Stand him up next to guys like Esteban, or Mich, and Guanyu. His trajectory is in a league of it's own. Easy to argue with him in a quick car he will score podiums. Helps that he probably brings a GRIP of money to the team with backing from ALL of CHINA!
Lando also had a very very capable car in 2019 as a rookie
I've loved yuki ever since he said he was surprised to be kept on for 2022, it's pretty much the opposite what any other driver would say (latifi)
Maybe it's due to recency bias but his form at the start of races has been fascinating to watch.
He has a less skilled team mate this year though, so some of the points made like all the points scored being by him are somewhat expected but it's good to see him improving.
At this point Helmut Marko needs to consider retiring himself than retiring any more drivers from the academy.
Yuki is pushing very hard to become 2nd in line to graduate to the Red Bull seat.
He finally stepped up and is securing his seat for next season.
Can you do a video about KMag and Hulk further down this season ? :D
Tsunadas da Goat.
And everyone knew that.
I love Yuki, thats who I cheer for the most, i cant wait for him to move on to another, better team
Yuki’s doing great.
Yuki would be 7-0 in races vs de vries if he didn’t get brake issues in Monaco too. He’s driving excellently.
When alonso retires an Aston move, with the Honda deal would be perfect for him
One of my favorites.
Lando 2019 had a solid car
Well said Aldas!
Yuki driving an Aston Martin F1 would be FIRE bro.
i would love to see an all japanese line up as long as honda is still there in red bull....tsunoda and iwasa.....
the Mclaren of 2019 was good💀💀
Yuki Tsunoda should go to the Red Bull Senior team
I honestly think that Yuki's performance increased a lot thanks to Franz Tost.
Frank really wanted to give Yuki the chance to improve and was supporting him real hard. He knew that Yuki has the potential and that if he polishes up his mentality and increase his physical strength that he would improve.
After Frank and Gasly left, I think that got Yuki to want to improve himself more and just be better. I generally just like Yuki and want him to succeed in his F1 career
i mean he was put in the toro roso 3 years early with this season being the one where he needed to perform, this was the plan all along
Gasly was a passive aggressive bully. Yuki has flourished without gastly
brilliant video - thanks mate SUBSCRIBED
Yuki is the man
Concerning drivers who got comparable car quality in their rookie seasons, you forgot Norris in 2019 with the MCL34 which was easily the 4th best car
Just a minor nitpick though, great video!
Yuki replacing Stroll would be wild. I'd love to see Alonso and Yuki side by side, see how they stack up against each other.
That'd be awesome to see him in a honda powered car. But it'd be even better to see Lawrence axe his own son. One can only hope.
@@PrinceZirconium make it two can only hope
@@PrinceZirconium well Lawrence did dump $146mil of Aston Martin shares
Loved him ever since he joined 😂
cant believe he had doubters tbh
Yuki is secretly a New Type. Gundam fans will know.
