I´m always suprised to see that sundays aren´t considered "special" days in other countries. In Germany nothing, absolutely nothing is open on sundays, only a few selected grocery stores are open but it depends on the location. Thank you for giving us an inside in your life, it´s very relaxing following you along.
In The Netherlands, stores in the big cities are always open on Sunday’s but the stores in the smaller villages are usually closed since it is considered a rest day
Well in India absolutely nothing is closed on sundays. In fact people go out a lot on weekends and we pretty much have big crowds on the roads all through the weekend.
I haven’t been in Leiden for quite some time, but when I went to Mayflower for the last time I found it really funny that their LGBT shelf was in a closet.
I can only dream of bookstores in my country having books in english, the little selection that they have is pathetic lol Btw love the lighting, it's so cute to see you so excited over it
Same here, stores usually have like one shelf of english books, but good luck finding any lesser known book there or anything with any LGBTQ+ or POC representation:/
Oh same one shelf of overly over hyped best sellers. It's always hard to find something else. Even in second hand bookshops the selection of english books is always small. That's why i go i always check them every time i can. Sometimes i get lucky.
I am always surprised how countries like Netherlands are kind of frozen in time where things look same even after years. Whereas everything else changes like one’s circumstances etc
Your fascination on the color changing lights was just too cute and funny. I can certainly relate to it and the anxiety of live streaming. I got similar lights for my home office last year and almost tried live streaming while on lock down last year but just couldn't bring myself to do it. haha I just love those weekends when things fall into place and we can find extra time to relax and enjoy a good book!
I’ve been watching you for a few days now and honestly I’m in love. You’ve motivated me to read which is something that nobody has ever been able to do XD Thank you :)
Hey Leonie~ I'm binging your videos and just seeing you drink bubble tea and walk around going to bookstores is so relaxing. I miss going around and visiting bookstores too! My country has a bad case of covid so we've been in and out of lockdowns. I also just wanna say, for some reason you remind me of Jodie Foster, you're super beautiful! Take care!
Neuromancer is an excellent book. Or I thought so. The beautiful bookmark I bought from you - and the British Post Office tried to ruin - has been doing sterling service. It's currently marking about halfway through an anthology of First World War Poetry. Liked the video. Made me a) want to go book shopping and b) go to the Netherlands again.
your outfits, the reading footage and the l i g h t s☆. such a beautiful reading vlog and it inspired me to start filming ones! you are stunning leonie♡♡♡
On the subject of being tired of your clothes - because of quarantine, I stopped wearing my dresses and skirts, but I wore sweaters, T-shirts and pants all the time to the point where I can't look at some of them and just crave some new clothes.
Bookstores are so great. I could spend hours in them. By the way one of my last books I bought this April was "Ninth House" and it's so good 💙 I wanted to read it since you talked about it in your vlog. 😊
Fun fact, as I’m watching this, it just turned midnight and it’s now my birthday. I’m curled up in bed with a pile of blankets, my sleeping cat, and this. I’m quite happy 😊
Never fear, the bookshops will start getting better stock soon, I found that here in the UK when the shops first opened their stock wasn't very good and I actually felt bad for not buying anything, but give it a week or so and new, more interesting stock will start coming in - especially in those second hand bookshops! You probably don't need any further recommendations for your TBR but I hope you one day get to read 'The Binding' and 'The Haunting of Henry Twist', I would say they'd make for a perfect autumnal read. :)
Joanne Harris's Loki books (Gospel of Loki and Runemarks that made it into the vlog in particular) are not only pretty but also so much fun! I liked the books a lot, highly recommend the series. And Joanne Harris's writing In general is very pleasant
I was actually talking about the fact that 'romance' isnt really a thing in dutch book stores and genres here with my mom the other day. We dutch people don't even really have a name for them, we just have the genre 'roman' but that is not the same as 'romance' .
I don’t know if you ever went to “Donner” It’s a really big bookstore in Rotterdam. It’s really amazing and they have so much. I love it there. It’s my favorite place ever.
I can remember you once mentioned you lived in Leiden, and that city is BEAU-TI-FUL! I defenitely need to go there someday, maybe i will meet you in a bookstore hehe😌
I was also feeling like reading some romance (I hardly ever do), something like Normal People maybe, and here they're aplenty in the shops... BUT with such awful /cringe names that make me not want any of them. 😩😩
I’m looking forward to your thoughts on Neuromancer whenever you finally get to it. I first read it maybe 2 decades ago and had forgotten almost everything about it. Recently I listened to the audiobook from the library and I have to say I was disappointed. I didn’t like the audiobook narrator and that probably had a lot to do with it. Maybe I should try rereading the physical book. At any rate, it’ll be interesting to hear the thoughts of a first time reader.
I read a few months ago Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep) and liked it, it is different from the movie, but I prefer UBIK from the same author. Also, didn't know about Neuromancer, but I will add it to my TBR. Thank you! Nice vlog!
I loved "Do androids dream..." but wasn't able to get into the movie, and I have a running theory that you can love one or the other, but not both. I've never read UBIK and I'm kinda craving classic sci-fi, so thanks for reminding me of it's existence! Will check it out :)
@@mac8697 I felt the same when I watched the movie. And I did it after finishing the book. It annoys me a bit, bcz Blade Runner is considered a classic, and a great movie. I probably check it out again in the future
Yeeeeeees !!! So excited for a vlog 🧡 Love your editing style AND YES the lights are so cool haha Unpopular opinion : I hated The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue .... SORRY. It was so boring, all the main plot points were so predictable and it felt like 300 years of nothing. The author didn’t spend time on the interesting parts of the story, Addie has no character growth and feels 30 not 300. Like going through wars and all these major historic events doesn’t seem to have affected or changed her at all... Really wanted to love it ! ):
Does it not bother you to read the audiobook in Dutch and the physical book in English? I haven't tried it, but I would expect it to trip me up every time I switched...
hey! I have been watching your video since last year and I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel. also where did you get the lights from? they look so cool
Does it not bother you listening to the dutch version and reading the english version?? I usually don't both read and listen a book, as most of my books are english but my audiobook app is mostly dutch (library version lol)
you have such strong self-control lol. i would have definitely bought at least a couple on each store. ps. i hoped u end up liking addie larue (i personally didnt like it lol but it'd be a shame if u spend ur weekend reading a disappointing book.)
Where did you find a paperback version of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue? I hate reading hardcovers and avoid them if possiblehave been looking everywhere!
Just found your channel right now and love your video! Also was so floored that you have the same poster that I have in my lab (cancer pathways). Do you study cancer, or do you just like the poster? Also, I just read Vincent and Theo and was thinking for the first time how I’d like to visit Amsterdam, so it’s exciting to see that’s where you are!
This is random but have you ever done a read with me video? I can’t remember, but if you haven’t, I (and I bet along with others) would love to see one (if you want to) 👀
Chinese tv drama main plot is about people revenge to get what they want. Assassin try to find way to the rooftop to kill the emperor servant from public market. Then, alliance become betrayal after he get what want from bad hat.

It’s the same in France (: We only have a few things open in the morning but it’s usually very very quiet and it also depends on the location.
Same in the UK, most things aren't open and the things that are are only really open between 11 and 4.
In The Netherlands, stores in the big cities are always open on Sunday’s but the stores in the smaller villages are usually closed since it is considered a rest day
Yesss, that totally twisted my brain!
Well in India absolutely nothing is closed on sundays. In fact people go out a lot on weekends and we pretty much have big crowds on the roads all through the weekend.
Leonie being excited about her lights is now my favorite thing everrrrrrrrr
I was absolutely enthralled with The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I found the plot and characters fascinating and the descriptions were beautiful
I'm so jealous of how many bookstores you have nearby. I did my best to browse the shelves as you walked by them. One of my favorite things to do.
Your content, editing style and personality are the best thing on youtube. Long live bookshopping, it calms the soul, just like watching your video's!
I haven’t been in Leiden for quite some time, but when I went to Mayflower for the last time I found it really funny that their LGBT shelf was in a closet.
hahaha yes that so true!
I can only dream of bookstores in my country having books in english, the little selection that they have is pathetic lol Btw love the lighting, it's so cute to see you so excited over it
Same here but it's so rewarding finding a good book in second hand book shops
@@karimabou8784 We don’t even have good second hand bookstores 😅
Same here, stores usually have like one shelf of english books, but good luck finding any lesser known book there or anything with any LGBTQ+ or POC representation:/

Yeah and the English books in my country are so expensive
Was just thinking of how much I miss being able to go to bookstores 😭💕
You channel has such a soothing aura ❤️
Gotta say, the outfit you picked out to go shopping went so well with your hair 😊

This vlog was soo relaxing. And it made me write down all the bookshops I want to visit as soon as I can haha We all need more books in our lives
Her obsessing over her lights is the mood

forgetting that stores only open after noon was the story of my life when i lived in the netherlands
I believe romance is the most read genre lol.
The Netherlands looks so pretty. You're vlogs are giving me serious wanderlust!
You have so many English bookstores in your city! I'm lowkey jealous 😅
I miss the energy and peace that comes when you go in a bookstore or library :( Thanks for this vlog, it was a gift for my soul!
Watching leonie pleased with her lights is just priceless 😂❤❤❤
Secondhand bookstores are such treasures!
Thank you for putting the links about the Palestine crisis in the description 💕 thanks for using your platform like this

why am i so happy that you’re finally reading a book that i lowkey despised 😂 addie seems like a book you’d love though
I have lockdown here so I can't visit a bookstore. But I'm gonna visit one virtually now thanks to you Leonie!❤
Mayflower is my favourite bookstore!! Hope to go there soon again.
Also thanks for hyping up the broken earth trilogy, i love the fifth season I'm ready to take this series down
I can't wait to get the UK special edition version of Addie Larue. It's beautiful
I really liked King of Scars you should read it
Yes! The Stardew Valley streams have been so much fun!!

Omg I think this was the first video of yours I watched and now I'm in love with your channel 😌💕💕💕
i loved the odyssey translation by emily wilson! can’t recommend it enough!! 💗

OMG I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT YOUR VLOGS AND HOW WELL YOU EDIT THEM
Instead of a pub crawl you did a bookstore crawl and this should become a thing!!!
i did this once with my student association haahha it was a lot of fun
I love u and ur content. You are amazing and inspiring 🌞
omg yes! you need to read king of scars. I truly feel that you will enjoy it
I bought The Invisible Life of Addie Larue on Audible. I'm so excited to listen to it! 🖤
I looooove the mossy colours you are wearing 😍💚
Where I live we’re still in lockdown so I’m living vicariously through you 😩
ahhh i hope things get better soon where you are!
You have so many bookstores near you! My closest store is about a half hour drive.
The live stream was so much fun! You should definitely do it more. Because of you I started again with Stardew Valley and I played 5 hours today haha
Also, love this video!

Holly shit. That guy on the teams meeting sounded so much like my teacher Tim. I’m Dutch too and he plays games too maybe it is him😱
