@@georgepelham5425 My airtags came with low batteries. I was and still getting marginal performance. Improved when I changed the batteries. The original battery voltage ranged from 2.89 to 3.15V, my new Duracell's are at 3.30V's.

Yeah using surgical gloves helped me get it off easy. I have 2 AirTags and the first one I tried came off super easy like in the video. But the second one I keep on my keys 🔑 required the usage of gloves to get enough grip to loosen the back cover.

@@bigshmoneyRick Mine was a pain as well. Latex gloves helped grip the cover to spin it. I use it on a wallet, so it gets a little gunked up on the seams.
Great video. I could not get the cover to turn until I put on some rubber gloves. As suggested by another viewer. It came off easily after I tried that.

I have the first batch of AirTags so the only batteries that work are Panasonic 2032. Any other such as Duracell or energizer do not. I believe Apple corrected the issue.
ALERT - I just bought NEW Duracell CR2032 to replace 12 AirTag batteries. After changing the battery in 4, I realized the AirTag had not activated (chimed). For some reason the Duracell CR2032 does not provide power to AirTag. I put the old batteries back in and they work great. I will be looking for a different brand battery.
*Did you discover there was a coating on the battery so kids would not like the taste and accidentally eat them? Apparently the coating needed to be removed with rubbing alcohol or some other liquid. The Duracells may have subsequently been designed so they work without this process.*

Why care if people can change the battery on a $25 device? It’s cheap. Apple makes it hard to replace batteries on phones/laptops because they rather you spend the $800-$2000 to replace it

Oh well just another Apple product that they make it so difficult to change the battery. That’s okay sir your video will help others I’m sure. I did have trouble getting in the party initially, but actually putting it back together was harder and per his video, he barely touched it to test after changing the battery. my batteries are good. I just put it in another device but this one just doesn’t give the confirming tone. Back to the drawing board.
I inserted a new battery , unfortunately it keeps showing the battery in red - I tried 3 new battery's all gave the same low power , find my AirTag is still working and plays his tune . any tips please, Twan from The Netherlands

I guess I don't have nimble fingers. I can take out the lid and cell, and put a fresh one. But damn if it is impossible to close the lid back on. It is so smooth my fingers cannot turn it clockwise to lock it in place. How do you all do this? I hate it.
This may sound like a strange comment but it was helpful. Your voice sounds a bit like my Godson who passed away so I found it difficult to concentrate because of all the thoughts/emotions that came flooding in.
Thank you for your instructive video, I have been trying to put the backplate on for over an hour after I watched your video, it is just not happening. My AirTags failed to work for no reason so I took the battery out to reset them. I do not recommend this product.

I had a really hard time getting the cover off, and getting the cover back on was even harder but using rubber gloves helped me finally get it back on

Yea cleaning it with some isopropyl helps a ton in the opening process

Must use the 2032 battery that is not child proof with the bitter coating. Will not work with the new Duracell childproof battery

The cover on mine is surprisingly stuck. I cannot open it.
I find it a little easier if you put the airtag in the palms of your hands and squeeze and twist.

They are not waterproof. Tile makes water proof tags & many other varieties.
