  • While looking on eBay for vintage Star Wars figures, I came across some absolutely ridiculous items claiming to be factory errors or variants for sale at some seriously large prices. Here's a selection of some of the best ones.

    That "Red Eyes Luke" looks more like a Brown Eyed Luke left out in the sun. Yellows, reds, and Browns are the first colors to sun fade. The listing did say the yellow hair was lighter.

    Ha this was a great video! You touched on a topic that really pisses me off. People selling trash for a kings ransom! 1 thing really pisses me off a lot lately: I make exceptional action figures from scratch, but I don't sell them. Then I see people with nonexistant "copy and paste" skill in 3d modeling and even worse 3d printing skills make the most absurd looking trash, then paint them with a used maxi pad and then have the balls to sell them as expensive customs! Ha! Can you believe that?

    The shipping prices people charge on eBay are ridiculously high.

    These will stay on Ebay forever. Some sellers are crazy

    How people can charge such ridiculous prices is mind blowing. Still there are some people who would be stupid enough to pay the asking price. I enjoyed this video 👍

    A Lili ledy Rancor Ewok recently sold on eBay

  • @a_world_made_of_cardboard
    @a_world_made_of_cardboard 2 года назад +1

    For that 2 right armed Ewok, that extra 55 cents just knocks it out of my price range. 🤪
    But seriously, I have trouble spending over $20 for a figure. I have done it, but I really have to think hard about it.

    Well this isn’t a SW figure but a SW vehicle that l bought back in the 80’s ,it was a Skiff brand new from the box and it came w two right rear fin flaps.

      Exactly, especially as they're mostly fakes.

    Figures like the Snaggletooth, Ewok and Rancor Keeper are what I call "freak show figures" and are, in my estimation, worth perhaps a little more than the correctly assembled figures, but not too much, and ONLY if they are, without a doubt, actual factory errors, which is hard to ascertain sometimes. For me, I'd pass on them all even if they were reasonably priced.

      I wouldn't touch these so called "variants" with a ten foot bargepole.

      Yeah, but any vintage Kenner Star Wars will sale. Even putting a ridiculous price on an item, someone will eventually buy it. That's why the regular figures are costing outrageous prices to purchase. Looks like the Kenner Super Powers figures are starting to go up too, but as of now are still affordable.

    This is a great video! I guess the Rancor Keeper with Ewok limbs was made up of Lili-Ledy overstock? figure looks unpainted. I did purchase a UKG graded Ree-Yees with 2 right arms! It did not cost much and is a genuine factory error, now Vintage Star Wars collecting is so hot these days, any old tat can be passed off as rare! Mind you that Blue Snagg looks pretty kosher if you ask me! Do more of this type of video...if I may suggest: crazy prices for Vintage Star Wars foreign MOCs- Meccano, high end Palitoys, Takara, Harbert, Lili-Ledy Mexican cards and so on....

    I would spend 55 for a Lando Luke. It's pricy for a loose figure, but not multiples of $100 crazy.

    • @AllThings80s
      @AllThings80s  4 года назад

      I also very much doubt it was a "factory error".

      You can just easily and carefully just swap heads of the original Lando and Hoth soldier figures. You may be able to save more $ that way.

    This is hilarious indeed, just like these LL ‘Frankie’ kidbashed figures listed from time to time, even if these were not swap jobs, they’re too ugly to enter my collection. I love factory errors though but they really have to make sense and above all, be beautiful errors 💢👊🏼💢

    I don't believe that any of these "rare" figures is an factory error. I bet all of these figures are custom made frankensteins.

    variants in my opinion ruin the collector market...i didn't notice it as much with star wars toys as i was too busy playing with them...but...but...when the late 80's rolled around and every issue of every damned comic had five variant covers...that just ruined the hobby for me

    • @AllThings80s

      I agree. When I was a kid, there was a Luke Skywalker figure, but now it's all about Luke Skywalker Blonde Hair, Brown Hair, Tan pants, dark brown pants etc.

    Funny how at the time of production these would have been classed as balls ups . now with their rarity "some" of them are extremely sought after and command shocking prices , I dont see any of the new disney stuff ever being so highly sought after. Who knows , maybe a rose tico with two left arms and two right legs will be a hot ticket in a 100 years or so, thankfully I wont be around to see it 😂 great video 👍

    • @AllThings80s
      @AllThings80s  4 года назад +1

      I can assure you that NONE of the modern Disney stuff will sought after in years to come.
