At 3:27, when Joey yells, "Pacey!", makes me every single time!
I really like this sequence. Pacey's confidence : he knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that Dawson will come and save them. Dawson who, despite the bitterness, risks his life for his best friend. Grams, who is excellent as always, and very funny in this scene lol. And this event is also the starting point of one of the most fascinating intrigues of the series: the special relationship between Dawson and this old Hollywood director. Who is like a mirror of what Dawson might become if he doesn't get over his pain. This relationship and this affection between the two will profoundly change Dawson. And most importantly: this storm restores the bond between Dawson and Pacey.
What's also interesting is that destroying True Love is going to destroy Pacey's confidence in himself. The boat was like the symbol of what he could accomplish (living a story with Joey in particular). The boat is destroyed, nothing matters anymore, and it will sink into the feeling of insecurity. He will have to rebuild his self-confidence, without Joey, without the boat, without Dawson, and finally be fulfilled at the end of the season.

Amazing analysis. And yes, like you excellently pointed out, Pacey's confidence got ruined and that's why he broke up with joey at the end of the season, I believe. He needed to find himself, his soul, and his self confidence, before he was ready to be with Joey.
4:15 Wow, I totally forgot about this Dawson's story arc with the film director! It was the best, most frustrating and rewarding story of the entire show.
I really liked Dawson. People only view him in relation to the Joey pacey triangle but he was so kind. And I loved his Gretchen storyline. From season 4 onwards he was not as selfish as the first 3 seasons. I could argue that in season 4, it was actually Joey and Pacey who were selfish. They remained so stuck in their fights about Dawson while Dawson actually grew up and matured, largely owing to Gretchen.

I hated him in season 1 then I liked him in the other seasons.I feel like every character had that one season were I couldn’t stand them though.
I loved him with Gretchen too! Wish they ended up together.

3:05 - Pacey had some really bad decision making skills. He could never see the forest for the trees. Same thing happened while he was charming Joey , all while neglecting his school work and failing.
Grams is a trip. I've always liked from the first episode.
I respect Dawson for saving both Jen and Pacey even if there is still bitter between Pacey and Dawson Dawson still go out of his way to save someone besides this is the right thing to do deep down inside there both still friends.
I love that it was Joey that called him back. He probably didn't want to leave his boat because of what True Love represented and their time spent on it.
It made sense only Joey could call him home. That's a true Twin Flame. That's True Love.
Season 4 Dawson... The one time the writers presented him as a sympathetic character, pretty much from start to finish.
This was because Dawson was intended to be end game for Joey but the viewers hated him/them as a couple.... so at this point the writers tried to write him back into a guy Joey would want to end up with, didn't work.

@@truneilson well some of the viewers that were left after the show audience started dwindling going into s3/4 may possible still not have like Dawson because of their preference for Pacey and his coupling with Joey but for some it did work then or on re-watches later on

Just how much more of a loser can Pacey be? After everything he did to Dawson, Dawson still came and saved Pacey. And Pacey did not even repay Mr. Brooks. Instead Dawson himself repaid all for the mess that Pacey started.
