+J Robitaille Don't know if they have purple heart but place in Windsor called Miller's is where I got that chunk.

Some exotic woods are not really safe to use as food utensils, Purpleheart is one of those woods that has sensitivities to heat. You can look up safe woods to use as food utensils on google. Mostly Maple, Oak and Pine are safe as are some fruitwoods.

+Cristian Woosnam mineral oil. need to reapply every so often. it's food safe.
