How to Carve a Wooden Spoon with a Dremel Rotary Tool

  • Hey guys, here's a quick and easy Dremel rotary tool project that's great for beginners (or anyone for that matter). Wooden spoons are a classic carving project, and although usually they're carved with knives it's also fun to make them with a power tool. The design of this one is a more classic cooking-style spoon which makes it useful for you or for a friend as a personalized gift. Enjoy!

I am an absolute beginner at woodcarving and I only have a little Dremel Stylo, but seeing you do all these cool things with only a dremel and some bits gives me hope to make something amazing some day too. The spoon looks great, keep up the good work! Best regards from Brazil!

    • @Nekoandpiano
      @Nekoandpiano Год назад +3

      @@LogsCarvingClub i do have Dremel Stylo. I love it, but it's not really that powerful and it will lose speed easy under pressure. I mostly use it for detail engravings on wood and brass, there it's small size and lack of vibration is a huge benefit.

    • @JessicaAVoigt
      @JessicaAVoigt Год назад +3

      @@LogsCarvingClub I've only used it so far for some easy works like cutting/ carving MDF and light engraving in acrylic and brass, but I love it. It is great, but it is definitely less powerful than the other Dremels. If I'm not mistaken the max speed is 22000 rpm. It has a nice little mechanism that when you put too much pressure or the bit is struggling to cut/ engrave something, it stops itself as to not break the burr and not damage the motor. But if you'd like to check some work done with it, Matt from the channel Cornelius Creations does some carving/ engraving with it and seems like it can handle itself. Like @nekoandpiano said above, it has very little vibration so you can make some really steady lines. I hope this helped you!

    Never seen your videos before but the almighty algorithm seems to have liked this one, suggested it to me and I'm happy I watched it. I've had the tools to do this for some time but have never tried to to something like this before so now I kind of want to. I also happen to have a Laser engraver so I may be able to carve something nice then personalize it further or do something like this for gifts. I've always loved "making things" so this looks like a fun hobby to explore, though cautiously since it seems like could be easy to get careless and skin part of your hand.

Can you recommend an accessory kit that would have all the attachments needed for this project? Thank you! That’s the goal of this channel to keep tools to a minimum. I believe I got this at a local lumber yard and just made sure it was untreated by asking the employees. Lots of times they have hardwoods that are untreated, it seems most softwoods are treated though.
