In a 1995 interview with Cardhouse, Danielle Brisebois mentioned this was her personal favorite episode of AITF/ Archie's Place.
Cool
I can see why. It was built around her.
Archie Bunker was and still is the greatest evolution of any sitcom character in the history of the small screen. His heart was always way bigger than his mouth and that always showed through. This show was made at a time when tv characters were made in the light of real human beings not the censored dimwitted characters they showcase today. People know right from wrong and don't need to be told because they can see, hear and judge for themselves. It had to be said.
That's what I always loved about Archie. I'm a woman of color. Some of the things he said didn't offend me. No matter what he said, you can't deny the fact that at the end of the day, he was a good man with a big heart. Love me some Archie Bunker.💖
Danielle was adorable and became a gorgeous adult, this show was done so tastefully.
I miss those 70s and 80s shows..!
I love seeing Archie and the gramma working together for Stephanie
I was just about to post the same thing. I love seeing them get along in this episode, and thank each other for what they do for Stephanie.
I liked Stephanie’s grandmother, Estelle. She was a very great lady.
I also liked how Archie and the the grandmother came together to be there for Stephanie but in their own ways.
@@aph1976💯💯
This spin off always made me sort of sad because everyone from the original series is gone, and only Archie is left. I think about Edith’s passing.
I think how proud Edith would have been.😊
Yeah, it wasn't the same without the original characters Mike, Gloria and Edith.
yah. i agree. i mean this show had potential but it could never stand up to all in the family during the irine lornzo years
❤❤❤
Sort of how the real life is. Kids grow up, partners separate, or one dies. For what ever it is worth, life goes on.
Celeste Holm might not be much of a sitcom actress, but the confrontation scene with Floyd in the kitchen ( starting at 37:03) shows why she was an Oscar winner.
Agreed.
yes! so good ! the disgust is dripping from her eyes
I met her in person. A very nice lady.
All In The Family is a true classic show. Edith & Archie Bunker were such a beautiful couple ❤
To some, many thought it was an unequal partnership, but it worked for them. Edith made him a better man & he knew it and loved her for it.
Celeste Holm was such an amazing actress. She was a stage and drama actress and a superb actress in this comedy setting. She was pure class.
I always saw her play headstrong women in this, Tom Sawyer, an episode of Trapper John, and of course Ted Danson’s mother in Three Men and a Baby.
Why happened to shows like this. You know you, with morals and lessons. Nowadays it's all evil. I do miss this show. Whoever uploaded these episodes. Thank you
I didn't know its called a Bat Mitzvah, which means "daughter of the commandments". I learn everyday something new.
I think one is called a " bar" mitzvah and another is "bart"...one is for the man and the other is for the woman.
Easy enough to Google it.
@@frankpitochelli6786 ‘Bat’
Archie Bunker, for all the flaws the earlier seasons showed, hes an incredibly loving father. First to Gloria, then to Stephanie and Billie.
He was a good man with a big heart.
I enjoyed watching this show. You can tell that Archie love her.
Archie was more of a father to Stephanie than her biological father, Floyd Mills ever was.
This is fiction
Keep smoking your crackpipe.
It is fiction.but like all sitcoms has a touch of reality to it for many. Floyd was NEVER there for Stephanie he was a failing alcoholic.
That is why when it was asked for her father to stand up during the ceremony Floyd realized it and let Archie go up to the platform to speak.

She should have thanked aunt Edith who made this possible because she was the most good hearted person in the world.
One of the best shows from back in the day.😊
One last comment, i lost my mother when i was 8, im the youngest of 7 total, 4 bros, 2 sisters, i dont remember my mother, my father had to work out of town. So we all took care of each other, i never really had a childhood, i had to grow up quickly, and i dont have any regrets, except i wish i could remember my mother. I soent 13 months in Iraq, im glad my mother didnt have to worry abput me, thats my one bittersweet thought. So, i think this is why i connect with Stephanies situation so much. Shes a great young lady, but i hate to see her get hurt. So, tho its only a tv show, its so well acted, by these great people, it reminded me of how i felt when i was Stephanies age. Thats all im gonna say
Hugs
Sorry you lost your mom so young but it sounds like she taught you enough life tools because you turned out to be a person who can take care of themself. Glad you had other siblings and could depend on one another. Sounds like you all have good insticts. I can think of a lot of families whose children would be better off without the parents around.
wow he really made her daughters happiest day into her saddest day what a father
When I saw this for the first time I was burnt. What a bum he was but Steffie was indeed the grown up that day, even though the pain.
I was soooo in love with Steph back in the late 70's early 80's! 🥰
Sorry to see Stephanie still has a romanticized image of her father Floyd despite all that he's done in her past. But she needed a real wakeup call.
I think that was just storyline inconsistency of this episode; on AITF into season two of Archie's Place Stephanie knew exactly what a deadbeat her father was.
I’m thankful that Stephanie has her Uncle Archie and her Grandma Estelle. They’re both more of a family to Stephanie than her dead beat father could ever be.
I wish Estelle would have been in more episodes of the show. @@maryhlad7501
@@bargeld09 She returned for the last time the following season in Three Women

45:08 Stephanie bought something with the money she gave her father: she bought him out of her life.
But Archie paid him to get Stephanie on the first place, years earlier. Now he came back. Losers do that.
Millennial here Stephenie gives a flashback with tears of joy when I had my bar mitzvah Archie is 1000 times better her biological father
What a creep. A father stealing money from his daughter.with no remorse.. Archie and her grandma tried to put her wise to him and his true colors
but a tree made of money?! Kind of a bad cosmetic isn't it?
I haven't seen the end yet, but I figured he would do that
Yeah but that's just it! Kids! They want to listen to the truth! Sometimes they have to see it for themselves and a lot of the time it's seeing the truth always hurts and I guess that's where the phrase came from. I don't think that Stephanie believes the truth about her father. Oh sure! She hears what people say about her father so she knows the truth but it's one to actually believe it and until she does she won't believe it she has to see it with her own two eyes and that's what's going to hurt cause she's going to see what everybody's been saying about him was true!
@@RaptorFromWeegeeA ‘money tree’ was a very popular gift back in the ‘70’s’ for weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, baptisms, anniversaries, etc. Not weird at all during that era!
You can see the determination and hate in Estelle's eyes during the kitchen scene with Floyd.
Shame that with art, music, movies and television that we dont have such brilliant talent anymore these days (from script to final cut, everyone)🙁
Wish Grandmother Harris was in the series more than she was.
You are very right about Archie and Floyd,s relationship with Stephie
Archie was a true father to her.
nothing is done right anymore
When Stephanie was making her speech, I was disappointed she never thanked Aunt Edith. Who knows what would have happened to her if not for Edith. The Baines clan wanted nothing to do with her. And even Archie wasn't thrilled with Rosemarie at first.
Who is Rose Marie?
@@eloiseockert9233 😂 it's the name Archie used to call Stephanie at first & when corrected he would just say "whatever" and keep misssaying it 😂
Maybe Stephanie didn't want to bring up Edith since she may have known it would make Archie and even herself sad.
Stephanie u mean
Stephanie learned a tough lesson about love and betrayal...
My Dad wouldve acted the same way, except Floyd would've left on a stretcher.
Very touching. Wonderful acting.
Really proud of stephanie
There are parents out there who make and leave debts for their kids. Lucky for Stephie that she gained a real businessman like Archie for her guardian. Archie also needed someone to protect since Edith and Gloria were gone.
Three sheep's to the wind! 😂
That's not right is it not three sheets to the wind?
Archie Bunker had really softened up ever since Stephanie came into his life.
Stephanie had a big impact on Archie Archie changed over the years
Carroll O'Connor looked much older than he was in 1971 when AITF began, but over the next decade he didn't seem to age any further at all. ABP finished its whole run before he even hit 60.
Thanks for the memories very appreciated I remembered Archie Bunker's place very well on Sunday nights CBS television thank you once again for the old fashioned shows God bless Jason

Archie is so funny. Great seeing ABP unedited on here 😎
It would be crazy, but maybe Mrs. Harris & Archie could have been married😅😅😅
Half a century later Archie is proven 100 percent correct
I thought Steph was the cutest girl ever when I was younger!! Those really were the days !
She was smokin' hot!
19 minutes and eight seconds. Priceless.
Is the best line in the entire script from this program? Was "it was her very favorite" so many life lessons from my favorite biggot 😊😅
Powerful Episode. 🙃😎✌
This was part of a three episode arc that marked a significant change of direction in ABP. Since Billie was older, they could do a broader range of stories with her. Denise Miller got a progressively larger role and Stephanie's part on the show was drastically reduced. They didn't know what to do with Stephie at an awkward age of 13 where she wasn't old enough to hang out at the bar but too old to spend a lot of time with a father type figure like Uncle Archie. They occasionally worked lovely Danielle Brisebois into an episode just to remind viewers she was still on the show, but Stephanie Mills was no longer a significant part of the storyline after these episodes.
You don't say ..
This was a two part episode and Stephanie was 12 here because that is the age a Jewish girl has a bat-mitzvah.
I think the show still used Stephanie in a significant way.For example when Archie got a girlfriend named Katherine Stephanie got jealous because she may have felt left out and then when Stephanie went to visit her grandmother Estelle there was a bit of conflict because Stephanie wanted to talk about her dead mother and her grandmother was reluctant.
@@aph1976 Not really, more like they threw her a bone here and there. A couple episodes in the last season and a half were barely enough to remind viewers she was still on the show.
this episode i never did watch so far its really good
Celeste Holmes should have been more of a fixture in the series. A very strong positive matriarchal figure.
Had the show continued into another season, we would've seen her again.
Best ever
Danielle ended up drop gorgeous!!
She was super hot through 1985, check her out on Circus of Stars from that year. Then I don't know if it was bad plastic surgery or what, but she wasn't the same after that.
I remember her appearances on "Knots Landing" (where she played Mary Frances Sumner).
It was beautiful that Grandma Estelle had 2 men Barney and Archie fighting to dance with her. How can everybody get along when you have people like Floyd who dump their kids and leave others to take over their responsibilities. Stephanie got her wish. Estelle and Archie got along.
Originally on TV 43 years ago
Stephanie deserved a better father than Floyd Mills. He's just despicable.
The🎉bunkers, are one of a kind
If Stephanie had a maternal grandmother, why didn't she take custody of her instead of Edith and Archie?
Because her father left her at the Bunker's house

There was another performer who portrayed Stephanie's father in earlier episodes.
Marty Brill played Floyd in his first appearance.
Yes but only once.
You guys are correct.
Floyd Mills was the biological father. He was selfish greedy and awful.
Stephanie was blessed. She has a great loving father in Archie. She had her grandmother. She had a group of people that loved her.
This is the first I saw this
I agree that Archie was more like a father should be. Archie saw to it that Stephanie went to school did her homework change clothes after school take her to her first dance watch her during her religious ceremony the Batmizpah Jewish service. Stephanie could depend on Archie. She couldn't depend on her real father Floyd Mills at all. Floyd only came to Archie's house when he wanted something. I remember one time when there was a party at Archie's house and Floyd came there and before the evening was over Archie caught Floyd in Stephanie's room stealing her money. Floyd made up some lame excuse why he needed the money. Stephanie ended up giving Floyd more money out of her drawer. She started crying. Floyd wasn't even sorry he did that. He took her money off a tree that she got at the party. Archie told her not to give Floyd the money. Floyd needed to get some kind of job to get money instead of stealing it especially from his own daughter. Sincerely yours Gigi.
Floyd was an alcoholic who refused to get help for himself to stay 'dry.' It was obvious from his mannerisms, the way he dressed & presented himself.
If he would clean up his act & stay clean he could have eventually find real work.
He was, essentially, a 'bum.'
You got that right. The only time Floyd Mills ever came around Archie’s house is when he wanted money.
That's THIS episode where Floyd does that.
no there was another one earlier@@sha11235

Why is Stephie becoming bat mitzvah for. She is supposed to fullfil the mitzvot.
This is just a TV show
24:33 - I didn't know Mr. Belding was in this episode. Where was he?
This is kind of an ironic episode considering a few years later Danielle Brisebois (allegedly) had all her money stolen in real life. Desperately trying to jump start a stalled career she was emancipated at 15 hoping it would increase the number of roles she would be considered for. But she was more interested in boys than balance sheets and got buried in bad business deals. By the time she turned 21 she only had $10k of her childhood fortune left. Sad...
😢😢😢😢 is she ok now in 2023

@@u.s.m.c.fewproudthemarines2987 I suspect she is doing okay with the publishing money from Unwritten. But I do know legal action was considered when she was in her mid 20s against those that allegedly mismanaged her fortune but ultimately the decision was not to pursue potentially long and costly legal maneuvers.

@@sha11235That points to another difference between Floyd and Archie. Floyd showed absolutely no sign of improvement. Archie, despite his politics, demonstrated considerable improvement during the twelve years of the series.
Unfortunately the sad fact is that all too often real life is the foundation for shows like this.

There are still plenty of good artists and producers around, but unfortunately they've been ignored or cancelled by the woke mob in control.
Pretty soon it will all be AI characters instead of people showing up to actually do the acting. They will just rent out their likeness to be used for parts in movies. Just watch. It will happen.
