Military vs Farmers: The Case of Okara Military Farms

"اوکاڑہ ملٹری فارمز" مزارعین اور پاک فوج کے مابین جاری اُس تنازعے کی وجہ سے جانے جاتے ہیں جو کہ دو دہائی قبل شروع ہوئے۔
مزارعین کا ماننا ہے کہ وہ اِن زمینوں پر ایک صدی سے کاشتکاری کرتے آئے ہیں اس لیے اِن کے مالکانہ حقوق اُن کے نام کیے جائیں جبکہ پاک فوج کا دعویٰ ہے کہ سترہ ہزار ایکڑ پر پھیلی اِن زمینوں کے مالک وہ ہیں۔
سال 2018 میں، نیشنل کمیشن فار ہیومن رائٹس نے کوشش کی کہ فریقین سے بات کرکے اِس تنازعے کو سلجھایا جائے۔
اِس تنازعے کو سمجھنے کے لیے ٹیم سوچ نے انجمنِ مزارعین پنجاب کے روحِ رواں مہر عبدالستار، صحافی حسنین رضا، نیشنل کمیشن فار ہیومن رائٹس کے سابق چئیرپرسن جسٹس علی نواز چوہان، وکیل رضا الرحمٰن، اور اسکالر مبشر رضوی سے گفتگو کی ہے۔

I was born and raised in Okara. But no one (majority around) there had any knowledge of how much oppression is being practiced there just some miles away from our homes.
Rao Sikandar (former defence minister from PPP) was an instrument of administrative authorities who kept this matter on hanger for a long time.
I wish some day we shall be free from oppression of some narrow minded people who are ruining the image of the whole institution.

In the end, I'm seeing that the army has a decision to do what is right, and what is legal and it will always side with what is legal. This is a very post-colonial situation where ambiguous law is being exploited by the elite class.
They'll always try to side with the law, regardless of 'moral' obligations. It is the *right* thing to hand the farmers the land, but it is not the *legal* thing to do. Law and history is complicated but makes for interesting events such as these. Nothing that hasn't been seen in other post-colonial states. But truly commend the efforts of the workers that wade through with sheer will and might. God bless them fighting the good fight.
Also, congratulations on the very high production quality of the video. Appreciate all the animations, maps and everything going on. Really sells the point! I am definitely seeing a tad bias in the reporting however. The channel itself has interests and there's no shame in admitting that, but I feel these should be openly reported such as to avoid conflicts of interest.
