Mallorca's DIAMOND In The Rough | Coll Baix Beach (Part One) | Majorca, Spain

  • Despite years in Mallorca, I only heard about this place 6 months ago. One of the island's over 200 beaches and coves, Coll Baix is a simply stunning natural beach hidden away from the rest of the island out on the far-flung edge of the Alcudia peninsula... AND it sports the most spectacular entrance to a beach I've experienced here - Views to die for!
    If you love getting off the beaten track a bit for a Mallorca beach excursion, Coll Baix needs to be on your list, but beware. It's a bit of a trek to reach and there's an ever-so-slight chance that a whole mountain will land on your head as you try to reach it :\
    If you enjoy this video, please make sure to like, subscribe and leave a comment! I'll be making a lot more videos from Mallorca, Scotland and beyond in 202, so clicking sub and that notification bell will ensure you're nudged when I upload a new video (including part two of this one!)
    Thanks for watching folks!

    Folks! Sorry for the long wait for a new video, but here it is - Part 1 of a truly lovely day trip to my new favourite beach on the island of Mallorca! It's a bold statement, and something I say often about almost anywhere, but hey - this time I really MEAN it. Hope you enjoy the installment and take care out there!

      Gavin! Haha... Hope you're well mate :D I'm back in sunny Scotland for the time being... Mallorca's having a heat wave, the b@$t@rds, and here we are sitting in a grey cloud. My mates are at the beach today. We're hiding by the radiator. Oh well, we'll get back soon enough! Have a great Sunday, whatever you get up to...

    I love Mallorca, been there about 6-7 times and will go again. My favourite is Port De Soller.

    • @RuairidhMason
      @RuairidhMason  3 года назад

      Anna! Thanks so much, and thanks for watching :D Soller is fantastic. Really looking forward to making a video there when I'm back! Have you ever taken the ferry from the port to Sa Calobra? That's an amazing day out, although prob not during high season.

    • @annazeeva6929
      @annazeeva6929 3 года назад +1

      Hi@@RuairidhMason , I've never made it to Sa Calobra yet, although I wanted to drive there and then walk down to it (and then through the tunnel leading up to the canyon). De Lluc monastery is also not far from there, so I thought perhaps could do both in a day, if you've got a car.
      Have you been to Deia and Cala Deia (and that famous restaurant from 'The Night Manager')?

    • @RuairidhMason
      @RuairidhMason  3 года назад

      @@annazeeva6929 Sounds like a great plan. Talking of monasteries, I highly recommend staying the night at the Sanctuarí de Lluc (middle of island). You can find a video we made there on my channel. Lovely place, can't wait to go back!!
      You know, I've not be to Deia for a while, and the cala is often very busy so we normally avoid during spring/summer. I've personally never been to the restaurant but. although a bit pricey, I've heard good things about it! I'll definitely be trying it eventually when we make it back :D

      Craig! You're too kind and I will gladly accept :D I'm actually back living in Scotland now (cue screaming) but we will be returning next year at some point - COVID has been very tough to the island... it's going to be a long winter there, so we're back here looking for work to tide us over! Stay tuned for some vids from Scotland and then really looking forward to picking back up on the Mallorca stuff. Still an absolute TON to film. Take care mate and thanks for watching.

    Another suggestion, the hike up to La Trapa from Sant Elm. Cheers.

      Robert! How goes it? Yes, all fine and well... just relocating back to Scotland for the time being. COVID has taken its toll on us a bit, so we're back to live and work for a while -- don't fret though! We'll be back 100%.
      Also, you're right. There's a time and a place for a tinnie and it certainly wasn't that cliff. Although, if I am going to be buried alive by a rockslide, I would like to go out sipping :D
      Take care, Robert... hope all's well in your camp.
      Oh and also also, I'll be making some videos from here too! The channel must continue! To the grave :P

    Amazing dedication to get to this one Ruairidh! I think this is best reached by boat, but certainly worth the effort if you don't mind risking grazed knees and twisted ankles?
    Not for the faint-hearted (or slightly inebriated)! Look forward to the next part. (Will this involve a rescue mission, I ask?) All the best mate!

    • @RuairidhMason
      @RuairidhMason  3 года назад +1

      Chris! There were tense and lengthy negotiations to put this one together. Everyone (myself included) always wants to drive 10 mins to Playa de Palma and lie down metres from the parking and our favourite cafe/bar during the summer (Bon Vent, an oasis on an otherwise underwhelming strip... if you ever get the chance). REALLY glad we made it to this (I think it was you who recommended investigating the peninsula to me months ago?? Or no??)... 100% will be back, beautiful day out.
      ...and no rescues this time, although we had several altercations with the Goats of Coll Baix (NOT a metal band but def. should be). Not particularly shy, especially when you've got your sangers out the clingfilm.
      Take care mate, hope all's well!

      @@RuairidhMason Thank you mate, brilliant comment! I did recommend the North of Alcudia but have never been to Coy Bash myself. We taKe so much stuff to the beach, it must look hilarious to passeers by when we open the doors to our rented Panda and an assortment of umbrellas and pre-inflated Lilo's burst onto the carpark!
      There's some more beautiful beaches like 'Coy Bash' near Formentor too. Gotta check those out when you can. All the best mate, stay cool, stay safe :)

      Hey! Business-wise, Mallorca is dead right now, but if you can survive financially in Mallorca, you'll really be able to enjoy the nature and make the most of the island. We're back in Scotland right now until further notice. Very difficult times in Baleares.

    36 degrees Celsius July 2021, We had found this Bay on Maps while being near and looked at the photos thinking it looked cool. End of story we „hiked“ with flip flop slippers roughly 60 min just to turn around really close to finish line because my gf hurt her foot 🤣
