    Dave, thanks for posting this video. I have my Dad's set of 2344's that have the same issue where one of the rivits have just come loose. I think I got the last two of the bolts being offered from the same seller. Since I work in a machine shop, I'm thinking of have some more made possibly. I actually found the receipt from when my Dad purchased them. He had been after me to take all of his Lionel but I didn't until after he passed. While going thru all of the containers, I found the receipt. He paid $42.50 in 1950 for the AA set. Along the way other people had given me even more stuff. I aquired both the 2333 and 2354 NYC sets. Definitely one of my favorites.

      That’s great, not only having your dads set but the receipt too! That’s just cool.
      Glad the video was helpful. I imagine there are parts out there somewhere. But if you can make them, even better 👍

    You may be able to get a replacement brush plate. Lionel sometimes used different part numbers for the exact same part used on different engines. Some of the new MPC, LTI, and new Lionel brush plates may be exactly the same. Lionel engineers copied/used the same injection molds. Contact a repair station and tell them what you need. They may have a brush plate.

    Dave, I think you are my hero! LOL that is one thing I really want to learn how to do is make repairs to engines like that. I can do some things and others just give me the shakes or something. Inevitably I end up with a mess that costs me more than it is worth. I need a buddy to work with and learn from on things such as that. I’m awesome with scenery, building structures, weathering, landscaping work on layouts, working with foam board, artistic endeavors etc, it’s the engines that get to me. Not sure where you are located but I’m out in Oregon and it appears you are on the east coast from things n some videos. Too bad, would be awesome to collaborate. Have a good one buddy, take care and look forward to the next video. Later!
    Tim

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Tim, I’m still learning with these locomotives. I come across a problem and just see if I can fix it. There are still some repairs I either don’t have the tools to complete or just haven’t summoned the courage to do.
      I recommend just start taking apart and rebuilding engines that aren’t expensive or important to you to get used to it and see where it takes you.
      I had been putting this repair off for months because I didn’t want to destroy it.
      Yeah I’m in Northeast Jersey, so I guess Oregon is a little far! Well I’d be happy to help in any way I can from here.
      Thanks for watching. 👍

      @@dagryffynhobby I really appreciate your willingness to help out if needed. That’s very nice. I bought a beater loco for like $5 just to mess with, oddly the dang thing ran but the shell was the pits. I decided to take it apart to see what I could do and I ended up breaking a white from someplace and I swear I cannot figure out where it was at. I’m in the process of setting up a room for a layout and cataloging my collection in an Excel spreadsheet so when I die my kids or whoever can use that to sell what they want knowing an approximate value and info that may be helpful plus it will help me know exactly what I have and where it’s located. I just today got the custom shelving completed in what will be my storage and workshop area and I can start that process and move them to their new storage home. I’d love to show you what the storage area looks like. I actually took picks today of the bare shelving. I don’t want to populate the shelves for at least three more weeks as the paint needs to cure completely. I’m gonna take a guess all inclusive I must have $30k - $50k invested so far. This is not a hobby for the weak at heart. I’m sure you know what I mean. Anyway, thanks again. Love your channel. Keep showing some more of the repairs you do…my favorite.

    Why not ebay an Arbor press and convert to a HobbyHorse press
    Then you can set up pinpunching for pressing out.
    Eventually you can make wheel cups for mounting wheels.

    • @dagryffynhobby
      @dagryffynhobby  3 года назад

      That’s the plan, eventually. I do need to get a press, I have a few locos with axles that need to be replaced. I just haven’t gotten there yet.
