1:58 Apparently, the original version of Sonic Runners had a reason, but since that's been taken off the market, it's no longer accessible.
And since then the reason has been moved into the IDW comics. Not that it does much, the reason just boils down to "some of them decided to stay".

Yeesh... Y'all teally hate this game, huh. Meanwhile it was the first Sonic game to catch my interest. ...mainly because it looked the most like a Mario game and that is my favorite series so sue me. And my favorite Mario characters are the Koopalings so I am all about the Deadly Six.
Don’t get the wrong impression! Opinions and commentary in the highlights are always us at our most intense and “entertaining”, and are usually way more vehement than what we actually believe. While I do think that the writing in this game is a low point for the series (alongside Colors), I actually really like the way Sonic feels in this game. Lost World and 06 are games that I DESPERATELY want remakes for.
