Alot of Mondo fans seem upset at my thoughts on this figure. The whole point of a review is to review and talk about the product you recieved, and quite obviously I recieved a horrendous copy of this figure. He literally has a backwards forearm, loose ankles and scraped the thigh live on video. Am I supposed to praise the figure for these things? I mentioned Mondo WILL fix these things which is cool and all, but you cant blindly be okay with the fact that faulty product like this is being sent out on a consistent basis. I was eagerly waiting for this figure and Venom to enter my collection, but after this horrendous copy, I made the decision stay away from this line. I’m happy for those who recieved good copies and love their figures but I didn’t have the same experience as you. Can’t say I didn’t try to give them a chance.
You decided to stay away after only one disappointing experience, but I hope in the future you will return to the line when you see other, better figures that you like. I have full confidence in Mondo making this a great line to collect, even if there is the odd hiccup along the way.

The base came with scratches and it could hardly stand even with the stand! I ended up selling the figure. Mondo is just not for me.

The shoulders are so narrow and low, his neck is long as and the thighs are so massive they stick out past the hips. Also that articulation…this should be used as reference for those who said the original 2099 prototype was better than what we ended up getting. Glad I skipped now! Thanks lads for the video!
Mondo figures are overpriced and shouldn't be anymore than $150 for what they are. These aren't Hot Toys and shouldn't be priced as one. It seems like more and more of their figures have QC issues...my Lion-O included. Their customer service is great though from my experience (thankfully)
For a second I thought he was over exaggerating, but then I saw the price, poor paint qc, FUCKIN oil leaking, wrong elbow joint, paint chipping off, and DID I MENTION THE FUCKING OIL. I know it's there to lubricate the joints which is normal for figures; but it doesn't usually leak out like a greasy slice of pizza bruh. I'll just buy the 2099 Hot Toys at that point to be honest. Btw this video is even better when you realize he kinda looks and sounds like Shawn from Boy Meets World.
Most Mondo Fans' excuses are "they're art pieces"💀. Yes,I heard some reviewers defend these figs. Even the Batman TAS line suffers from these issues. They look great,but they don't pose. It's insane.

I hace the Mondo Batman 1/6 Animated Series and honestly after being a collector of Hot Toys, Kaustik Plastik, Sideshow, Threezero and other similar brands I will never buy a Mondo again.
So, got my Venom and to my surprise I didn't get custom charges on it, damn that such a relief, living in EU collecting Hot Toys kills ya wallet. Figure is amazing in hand but being a 1/6 collector you literally cannot stop finding mistakes. Paint rubs, oil leaking, scuffs, stiff joint that I nearly broke trying to move it, some mold problems on the teeth and so on. All that said the fact that this Venom is my childhood Venom it kinda makes me love it so much even though it has so many faults. Oh and articulation is just straight up bad. Makes me want to get Peter so I can re-create the pose where Venom holds him as I have the exclusive, I just cant justify Spider-man, it looks nothing like the cartoons.
While I never intended to buy any of these Mondo 1/6 figures, I was curious to see how they would turn out. And while Mondo is doing right by their costumers and sending replacements (free of charge) as Nick states that shouldn’t happen in the first place. I’m sure most of the 1/6 community appreciates the full transparency Nick shared here (Those who don’t turn a blind eye to these things), as It was his experience and I certainly appreciated the honesty!

I emailed them yesterday and I’ve already got an email back confirming my replacement is being sent. Absolutely the best customer service in the biz. Mondo, particularly their animated figures is all about aesthetic and not articulation. You just have to know that and accept it going into it.
I’ve been collecting Marvel Legends for a while now and have recently been seriously considering moving on to a higher class of figure. Quality over quantity. Reviews like this are super helpful. Man that neck is all fucked up. It's long from some angles, and the web lines are atrocious. I'm glad I don't collect 1/6 where paint apps matter more than 1/12. You can hide little paint flaws on 6 inch, but 12 inch is much more important.
So sorry this happened, it’s absolutely unacceptable mondo isint usually like this. The issues are just insane like unbelievable. That greasy thing... I have a feeling it could be the clear coat melting slightly. I encountered that on a some figures, and sometimes in customs too. Feels and looks like grease, smears and can gets everywhere.
Insane price, worse articulation then a 25$ marvel legends figure, at least when you buy hot toys you get your money’s worth for that high price but here it’s definitely not worth it at all there’s no way Mondo D Riders can defend this 😂
I have Mondo Faker, and I learned about their QC the hard way. The handle on his sword snapped off from me pulling it out of his sheath, and the handle on the shield broke off from me hanging it on his body.
I collect the Batman line. And to start I loved them. But then the price jumped from $125 to $250 plus and some of the new figs have been awful. Phantasm apparently had her back broken by Bane, thats the story I’m going with. They made the fig with a torso swap but the joint is so loose that the fig is completely broken and not usable at all
Damn, I ordered Venom as that's my favorite Venom of all time, I passed on Spider-Man as I absolutely hated the proportions and shapes something about it looks way off but I had to get Venom. Man, this is horrible, the forearm killed me, how does that happen? I wish Hot Toys woke up and gave us these figures in the quality of Spider-Man 2099. They can do it, that 2099 Spiderman is a masterpiece, I can only imagine what they can achieve for a animated series Spider-Man and Venom. Bummer

I held out on Mondo for a while, but had to order the Spider Man figures. Say what you will about Hasbro and Mattel, etc. but no locked joints out of the box.
Great honest review! I have never had a Mondo figure before but was interested in their Venom. I'm really glad I saw this first and will be skipping on the figure. For that price, not only should it pose better but more importantly it should not have this level of QC issues. It definitely makes me wary of their Venom. Plus, while it is nice that the company will refund or replace items, the point is, I would rather not have to deal with the issues in the first place. Thanks for this!

Used to collect Mondo, but their figures are so terrible . Looking wise and accessory wise cool . But QC paint smudges arm limbs snapping off .People forget that Mondo is own by Funko. I switched back to Marvel legends and I’m so happy I sold all my Mondo’s off. sorry another collector fell victim to Mondo‘s cash grab tricks. great video

Terrible figure for many reasons. That is silicone Oil that they have used because to get that effect with the paint they have to lay the Paint on THICK which causes the Joints to get stuck and then too avoid Peeps breaking the Joints they added silicone oil but added way too much.

It is great that Mondo will do replacements for faulty parts and all companies should do this... for rare instances that somehow got past QC. It's not a band-aid fix if nearly all the product is faulty out the gate. Makes me question the quality of the replacement more than anything.
That’s a shame. Mine came yesterday and now I’m afraid to open it. 🤣 I have most of the X Men line and they are pretty good. These are really just 12 inch Marvel Legends figures in animated style. Even the better ones aren’t worth the price though. More like $100 and $150 for the bigger ones (Sabertooth for example).
Review was one heartbreak after another with just how many quality control issues the figure had. The enormous price , they were asking for it And of course it just sucks that so many people paid so much for something so faulty. I wasn't planning on getting any mondo anytime soon Simply put , there out of my price range But good to know that i'm not missing out on much

Yeah never pulled the trigger on mondo due to the prices. Don’t get me wrong the animated Batman and X-men line were awesome looking but no where near the price range they want. Even some of these other companies doing 1/12th figures getting over $100 is insane. I’ll stick with hot toys till I’m finally priced out, which is sooner then later 😂
In what universe should this be $240?? Holy. What a rip-off, and that is without the QC issues. As far as the oily substance is concerned, that is nothing to be concerned about. Some companies put that in the joints to help them move smoother, etc, but that is A LOT of it on this guy. Neca is one company that likes to do it, for an example. This guy looks almost worse than one of my childhood Spidey figures from 2000, an oversized ToyBiz figure (pretty sure it's a ToyBiz, only says Marvel ent. in the foot) - nigh the same size as this guy and also from the Animated Series, actually, that had sculpted-in web lines, that were cleanly colored black... I still have it, and it's great.

Great honest review! I have never had a Mondo figure before but was interested in their Venom. I'm really glad I saw this first and will be skipping on the figure. For that price, not only should it pose better but more importantly it should not have this level of QC issues. It definitely makes me wary of their Venom. Plus, while it is nice that the company will refund or replace items, the point is, I would rather not have to deal with the issues in the first place. Thanks for this!

Used to collect Mondo, but their figures are so terrible . Looking wise and accessory wise cool . But QC paint smudges arm limbs snapping off .People forget that Mondo is own by Funko. Terrible figure for many reasons. That is silicone Oil that they have used because to get that effect with the paint they have to lay the Paint on THICK which causes the Joints to get stuck and then too avoid Peeps breaking the Joints they added silicone oil but added way too much.

It is great that Mondo will do replacements for faulty parts and all companies should do this... for rare instances that somehow got past QC. It's not a band-aid fix if nearly all the product is faulty out the gate. Makes me question the quality of the replacement more than anything.

That’s a shame. Mine came yesterday and now I’m afraid to open it. 🤣 I have most of the X Men line and they are pretty good. These are really just 12 inch Marvel Legends figures in animated style. Even the better ones aren’t worth the price though. More like $100 and $150 for the bigger ones (Sabertooth for example).

The enormous price , they were asking for it And of course it just sucks that so many people paid so much for something so faulty. In what universe should this be $240?? Holy. What a rip-off, and that is without the QC issues. As far as the oily substance is concerned, that is nothing to be concerned about.
Some companies put that in the joints to help them move smoother, etc, but that is A LOT of it on this guy. Neca is one company that likes to do it, for an example.
This guy looks almost worse than one of my childhood Spidey figures from 2000, an oversized ToyBiz figure (pretty sure it's a ToyBiz, only says Marvel ent. in the foot) - nigh the same size as this guy and also from the Animated Series, actually, that had sculpted-in web lines, that were cleanly colored black... I still have it, and it's great.
2000 figures being better then this is actually criminal. I agree for the price this is inexcusable!
