That's a great point you raise. There's no doubt the fans dumped all over the match and it definitely hurt things. I don't think either wrestler put much effort into the match. It's possible that part of that was their reaction to the fans.
I feel like the match would have been alright/ok if the IWC didn't know, but it wouldn't be as memorable. Still, the IWC did ruined this match because for some fans they believe that match is ultimately pointless to be invested because both Goldberg and Lesnar were leaving after Wrestlemania 20.
Maybe it's just me, but if you mute the match and ignore the circumstances, it's at least an average match, but it still isn't as good as a dream match should be, esp at Mania.
