I'm not a minimalist, but I am interested in living less of a consumerist lifestyle. This is pretty much how I plan on starting... Using up everything I own and then keeping only one of things instead of having duplicates. 👍🏾
Now that I'm living with my boyfriend my mom gets super excited giving me so may thingies and Idk what to say, I know it'll break her heart to say " don't give me anything else" So now I give it away to people in need or friends I know use the same item idk ❤ It makes me feel super sad to see stuff piling up and not being used to the max ❤😊
DONT EVER FIX SOMETHING THAT ISNT BROKEN. This is my favorite thing to live by, don’t keep trying new products if you know the ones that work. Dont purchase things to replace that don’t need replacing if they do their job. This alone can save you mental strain and so much money! Love you Kyra!
Hi Kyra, I’m a 53 year old black women I have been following you since your minimalist journey. I have learned so much from you. I haven’t listened to your videos for a few years but I want to say I’m so proud of you. You make the best out of what you have.
Great list of items! I've also only got 1 shampoo and conditioner! Same with all of my skincare. Like you said, it expires! What I've found is how long these things last. I only need to replace my moisturizer two or three times a year. A little more often with shampoo. Thanks for sharing.
So here's the thing. I believe like you say minimalism is not about how much you own, but things that add value to your life,,,,,,but for me, sometimes it is about how much of something. I live in a very small cottage style home,v about 700 square feet. My partner and I share this home. I can't have alot of furniture because b there just is not enough space. I have to be so careful what I bring into my home, even if I feel like it adds value to my life, my home quickly looks cluttered. I'm realizing less is more not only from a minimalist standpoint, but also to keep a small home looking filled up, cluttered and stuffy
This one might be a little odd…I only own one pen! When I started university 10 years ago I bought an expensive pen (it also has a pencil) and I just buy refills..usually 2-3 refills each year!
You are so beautiful!!! I think you're doing the right thing. In Ukraine, many people drive cars that are 30, 40, 50 years old because they cannot afford to buy another one. It shocks me that Americans treat cars like socks. This is such a waste of money and resources!!! A year ago, I also embarked on the path of minimalism and started my first no-buy year (it ends on August 1, 2024). Last year, I spent $500 (over 20,000 UAH) on hair care products (some of them were very expensive for me) because I decided to stop straightening my hair and grow it. My hair was very dry and frizzy. And so, in an attempt to do something with it (because I went to work every day) without straightening it, I bought about 70 hair products in 3-4 months: shampoos, masks, balms, creams, oils, gels... So I didn't buy anything for a year, I also wash my hair twice a week, and managed to use about 17 products during that time. In general, I decided to start the second no-buy year right away on August 1, when my first one ends. Thanks to this, I saved money, used a lot of existing products, read a lot of books, and decluttered a lot of clothes and other things.
I just paid off my car last December and then the engine blew on it last month. It's not that I *wanted* to get another car- in fact, I was hoping it would last another 6 to 10 years. I had to get another one. 😔 Vehicles aren't built like they used to be built.
Same as you, I only have and need one phone case, one lip balm, one lipstick, one set of shampoo and conditioner, one sunscreen which is organic and vegan ^^ I do agree with you as a minimalist. Thank you for your meaningful videos.
Loved this video idea. Made me start thinking of what I need to start using up at home & try to only have one of. Would love to see your updated pamper routine or laundry routine would be awesome❤
Girl i feel your sports bra pain! Anita DynamiX sports bra is my go-to. But the fluctuation in size is a real struggle. I totally understand. Also having one extra to let the elastic rest can help to extend the life of a sports bra. ❤
I rarely comment on videos but I have to tell you that I love your videos, they are really useful and I really like your calming demeanor/vibe 🙂 I wish you the best when it comes to job opportunities but I also hope you will stay on youtube ❤️ I have a lot of things I only own one of but lip balm is not one of them 😅 One at work, one at my apartment, one at mum's house and one in my backpack 🫣🤣
Hi Milo! I only own one shampoo and conditioner too. I buy another one when they are almost out. Same for sunscreen with the exception that I have one for my face and one for my body at a time. Lip balm, I have 2 because I need one on me at all times 😂
I agree 100% with what you are saying here- either I do the same or aspire to do the same (using up extras that I have now and then not repurchasing backups).
So as someone that is busty and is currently working out. I highly suggest in looking into a VS sport bra. They are pricey but they last and they are so supportive for intense workouts.
Oh My! I am determined to use up what I have! It takes a LONG time and determination! My goal when I finish my soaps, lotion, shampoos, laundry detergent etc, is to use the refill type store in town. Awesome variety of products and can use what ever container you want.
I’ve never actually found a sports bra that both fits/supports well and doesn’t make me feel claustrophobic when I wear it. The best thing I’ve found is wearing two bras on the tightest setting over the top of each other. It holds me in place and stops it from hurting when I run.
My mom always taught me to only buy a new product once the old one was over or broke, I actually never thought that people would have more than one shampoo bottle 😂
That's a great lesson from your mom! It's true, many people tend to stock up on items like shampoo or other household products. It can be surprising when you're used to using things up completely before getting more. Everyone has their own approach to shopping and managing supplies!
I love your videos! They inspire me ❤ I’m moving into a 330 sq ft studio in VA next week and I think I might start a minimalism / slow living channel 😊
Hi Kyra and Milo! I identify with the weight loss issue. I am also on a journey and have lost nearly 6lb in a month. Doesn't sound like much, but I already have a pair of leggings that won't fit me much longer. I might end up wearing them as pyjamas in winter, to ensure more wear out of them. 😉 Have a great day. 🌱♥️
I'm also a minimalist and have similar yet different approaches hehe. I always have ONE backup of shapoo and conditioner because I'm afraid of being without (I wash my hair everyday because I workout daily). I only have 2 sports bra I wash them after use and the last pair lasted me about 10 years. I have 2 phone cases because I was VERY afraid of dropping my phone when I bought it but the case I bought at the stores wouldn't take pop socket (which I need in order to use it confortably because I have wrist problems) so I bought a cheap one on shopee.
I really really want to stick to one phone case only! I’m a bit of a hoarder/collector, but I feel very guilty about that, and want to change habits so much. Thanks for sharing your experience!❤
I'm a 40G and I wear an adidas high compression zip front bra and I can run in it. I have 2 of them and wash them regularly and they still look new. I need structure and they deliver. Also, my dr told me if youre planning on having children and breast feeding to hold off on having a reduction. They can come back to their size depending on the person. Anyway, as a fellow busty lady, I feel your pain.
I totally get the bra thing. I have Victoria's Secret Sports Bras from years ago I got at the semi-annual sale. They are the best. (And im cheap so 16 bucks for a decent sports bra? Im here for it. They are a little annoying, like its the two in one type. They have held up very well and i have the same issue with my bust and weight. People dont understand its not fun at all to be bigger.) Im a medic and am on a womens first responder group and I know lots like the She fit bras. I havent tried them. Also....Bali minimizers on thier site are like 20 if not lower. I went into Boscovs after thinking.... maybe my Nanny was onto something because hers always held up when she was alive and never had one complaint. They arent glamorous, but they hold up. (Unless you do stupid things like me, like throw them in the washer. But even then, I have only had 2 where the underwire came out of the stitching. I probably buy more then normal humans, but no offense. There are just sometimes in my job. I'd rather throw one away if it's a messy call.) Also.... didnt know people had more than one cell case being the norm. Yes you are definitely right about breast reduction surgery😢 unfortunately I had to do it and gained weight and now it is as if I didn’t do any surgery. It’s frustrating but one need to be the size they wanna keep then get the surgery

I have similar things around a bra (not only sports bra), only wanting pull-over, not wanting the X in the back. mine are currently fitting/feeling weird - and yours looks like it ticks off all my boxes. what brand is it?
I honestly couldn't give a straight answer. I would say it was a mix between consistency and being at the right place at the right time. It took me a very long time to build this channel though, 7 years total. And trust me there were so many days where I just wanted to give up.
