I miss Flatout 2, where cars seemed to be realistic with almost every visible piece imaginable upon it was able to be ripped off and or smashed. Though maybe those Flatout days will not ever return...

Play Wreckfest if you want the real Flatout 4! You will love the crash physics! Done by the same guys (bugbear) that made the first two Flatout games.
Yup it reminds me more on the Destruction derby PS1 games for the most part but def for a flatout fan too

Hey, soundtrack was not as bad as you probably remember. Just a bit different, nothing wrong with that, general mood is still there.
ThePhirenor there were some songs that didnt fit and in UC i heard the worst song ive heard in my life. It was called "a sweet lullaby" or maybe that was the bands name, i dont know.

The company saw the name Disney and thought they were friendly.. Nope... Damn, that is possibly the best racing game made.. Binge played it, and I never do that with racing games.
I wish Disney made split second 2. Those greedy fools at Disney closed down black rock studio. That franchise is dead but I'm still glad to see flatout after all these years

After the atrocity that was FlatOut 3: Chaos & Destruction, a competently made FlatOut game is a godsend, even if it's not as good as the BugBear editions.
I kind of wish they had brought back some of the original drivers though, like Frank Malcov and Katie Jackson. They gave the games some personality.
I believe that characters in 2 and Ultimate Carnage have a different AI programming to them. Example being Jack Benton who always wants to get first place or Frank Malcov with his tendency to be a bulldozer and wreck everything.
I dont know about FO2 but in UC Jack and Frank do exactly what you commented. In UC Evelyn Charakter has a strong personality and sind unic tactics
Flatout 4 looks pretty cool.
I liked the first two games and Ultimate Carnage was pretty awesome, too.
I think Ultimate Carnage was crap... (Only an opinion so don't get triggered)
UC was pretty much just FO2 with better graphics and a tamer handling. A remake. I consider them the same game.
It's pretty much like comparing a vanilla Fallout/Elder Scrolls game with a modded one.

I had Flatout Ultimate Carnage on my 360° when I was ten years old. It was one of my favorite games to play period. So.e much destruction and chaos. The AI was hilarious sometimes especially the ones that always came in last place in Derby cars. Let's just say they were all over the place. It was a game I could sit and play for hours in the demo derbies or stunts. The campaign races were fun. Overall I think if they can get some revitalization with Flatout 4 maybe they can make Flatout 5 way better than all the previous games

Wreckfest is not a FlatOut game. No arcade racing, no ragdolls... no development.
Wreckfest a game where the car gets totally destroyed beyond recognition in a very short period of time yet the car is still driveable. What's better in there?

I played flatout 2 more than anygame i ever did and ultimate carnage well...at least more than mgs 5
And damage was higher in derby
And no you didnt have more health because you could still die by 1 SUV hit in both races and derby

Bugbear is having a good laugh at this game. Physics and damage model is no where near close to older FOs, And why make completely different vehicles? Why not just make a revised version of the cars like from older FOs too?

Blur was a great game Blur 2 did have some work done to it but the company got closed done by activision and then one of the team members get angry and uploaded some footage of blur 2

How’s this compare to wreckfest?
For a studio's first racing game ever, I was surprised to see how faithful it is to the original series. With a better physics system, more tracks and actual unique drivers, this game would have easily struck gold and been just as good as Ultimate Carnage.
I am hyped for FlatOut 5 by the same studio if it ever comes out, a couple improvements and we'll finally have an amazing sequel.

Hey, flatout 4 is not a bad game. It's actually competently good. The problem is, 2 and ultimate carnage are fantastic games, and there is no competition with fo4. But at least devs actually tried and they rolled out something you can enjoy playing. THEN they should play FO:UC just to know how good flatout games can get.
How do I exit the stunts ? It goes straight into it and I cant get off them. Please help !!
While I am glad it looks like the series is back towards a direction it used to be in, it just isnt the same without the characters of 2 and UC, nor the soundtracks that came with them... not the developers fault, but its just not the same when you arent pinning Katie Jackson's red Chilli Pepper against a pole while Yellowcard blasts in the background. The stunt mode looks like a lot of fun though. Be neat to see what Flatout 5 entails

I'm just now finding out that Flatout had 2, 3, and 4. I played the first on the original Xbox YEARS ago and kinda forgot about it. The soundtrack brought me back and thats how I found out
Money is super easy to get. Go to the easier races and slam power hit and boom the opponents. Each time you get one of those hits on an opponent it's worth money. They very first race I did I got 3300$ when I came in fourth.
The thing that makes it not feel like flat out to me is the handling is nowhere near what the first two were. They had really great natural forces and drift feeling. The new one feels contrived
Anyone know how to get the actual menu? Like to career etc. When I press to continue I get sent straight to mini games

Usually when a game received a mediocre score on IGN or Gamespot, I end up loving it. Sonic Lost World was great example.

Can the driver get launched through the windshield in the regular races? It didn't look like it which is disappointing. That was my favorite part of the first two games.

they need a new Motorstorm i sunk hours into that game and Motorstorm apocalypse was just a big let down I remember when I was younger I was poor and lived in a caravan park but after school I would always go to the game section of Toys R us to play the demo version on ps3
I did not like the perks either, but the multiplayer was so off and on. sometimes you'd find matches sometimes you never found a match for the whole day, and being from Australia everyone plays when you are asleep.

Just got it and after an hour or so I love it. just to have something other than simulation bs is all I want. Flatout 2 was was awesome yeah but at least try the game folks before bashing it, like Halo fans.

I have FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage on pc and psp i remembered playing this for months so much fun and the graphics and physics are really good.

Why do recent games tone down the damage rate? Compare GTA5 to GTA4, Flatout 2 to this,... Now that we reached a point that damage physics could be awesome with modern computing power, the developers choose to keep them to a minimum.

the devs should be ashamed to release such a shit pile of games, when i remember what we got in the PS3/360 era with Split second, pure, Burnout, motorstorms, Blur, etc... i can't find a single arcade style racing game on ps4 or xbox one that looks and play like these older titles, thanks to BC on xbox one i can play some of them xD but why sony stopped the motorstorm franchise ?? why no Pure 2? or split second 2? or Blur 2 ? i know all the studios have been closed and now most of the talented devs of these games are on playground games , the studio reponsible of Forza Horizon franchise , i love it, but it's not enough , specially to ps4 only players.
Ange Alexiel Sony had to close down Evolution Studios after a horrific launch of Driveclub and it's non-functional multiplayer servers. And to this day, it still hasn't been rectified.
Sony now has the rights to the Motorstorm franchise. But until now, I haven't heard of any game studio willing to develop a PS4 Motorstorm game. But I doubt it'll ever be as good as the PS3 era.
IMO Sony should give the Motorstorm franchise to Codemasters considering that most of Evolution Studios staff was hired by them.
OK, let me make a couple of points here that were kinda sneaked under the radar in this review.
1. There is NO option to play the stunt games online. This is an offline mode only. Wtf?
2. You cannot create tournaments like in the previous "ultimate carnage" version of the game. its just single race, back to the lobby, single race, back to the lobby, with no rewards.
3. And this is killer. Online is completely broken due to this genius system. You can't search for lobbies you can only "join game" and you can't join the lobby of a game that is in progress and wait for the next round like in any other racer. You can only join lobbies that are waiting to fill with people, and here's the good bit, if you are in one of those lobbies waiting for people to join it turns out you can't wait as there is a count down clock which starts the game after 60 seconds rendering it unjoinable. FFS!!!!
I have tried to get a game online every night but unless you are with friends it is actually impossible. this the most stupidly unusable online system ever created and needs to be brought to the developers attention. oh that's impossible to....there is no way to contact them.
FlatOut Ultimate Carnage was my shit half a decade ago, too bad this seems to have worse crash psychics.
Some people love this game. While others just flat out hate it.
This just make me wanna play Flatout 2 again :)

Bugbear are the true developers of flatout. They are now developing "The next car game: wreck fest" Which looks way better than this and it's still on early access.
