      I don't think she didn't like it I think she was uncomfortable. She's gotten a lot more self-assured and since she formally dated a fellow Indian & had more family (& Indian friends... All female which helped...) around her, she has really been emersed in it which definitely removed any doubts and questions remaining.

      Maitreyi’s half saree is awesome but the dress material is not the flowy kind for dance hence she struggles with her leg movements a bit and even hinders her running with Ben. But she managed somehow , guess they wanted to film regardless of her costume struggle because of the huge sequence with all artists.

    The character development from the first season where she was making fun of the girls doing Indian dancing and now her doing this dance with her cousin whom she used to dislike for "being too Indian" is astronomical
    Edit: Sorry guys, I meant that the song the girls were dancing to in the first season was bollywood. (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong)
    Edit 2: sorry, for the confusion, I was wrong the girls in the 1st season weren't doing Bollywood, thank you for educating me. Because there is still some debate in the comments whether it's tollywood or kollywood, I will just leave it as "Indian Dancing."
    Edit 3: Okay I have no idea which one it is, but regardless the point still stands. Th character development from her hating her culture to embracing it is huge.

Also, I think this song is perfect for the dance routine. I could see myself dancing to Saami Saami with this choreography and feeling it matched the song, especially since there are some moves from the video song in this.

    • @hmmm713
      @hmmm713 Год назад +5

      @@serenedystopia3488 this is only a problem if you think of representation from this awkward narrow minded perspective.
      This is a Tamil dub of the song. The song was extremely popular all over India in it's different dubs. No Tamil person was saying it shouldn't be played at a Tamil wedding because it was originally Telugu. That's a stupid narrow minded view of the diversity in this country.
      Why should people view everything shown in Western media that isn't white, with a perspective that it should show the highest amount of "representation" as possible or it is not giving justice to the people it's showing.
      In other times, they would have used some Hindi song from 20 years ago to represent modern South Indian music

I've watched this video more times than I care to mention, but it was after 20+ times I heard Devi say to her mother, "This one is for Pati who thinks I'm a coconut." The line totally passed by me until 20 views later--brown on the outside and white on the inside.
