What I love bout this show is they shown her as she is . No extra make up , no waxing. she looks real teenage girl we see in India at every school . Not to mention, the closest they got to an authentic brown kid growing up in america experience was the episode with the ganesh pooja. Most first gen kids struggle with the cultural dichotomy and wanting to fit in vs respecting their culture. And I get that Devi is supposed to be super white washed but like there's no internal conflict in that area? And maybe I was expecting the wrong things of this show and that's why I was dissapointed. But when it was originally announced I got super excited because I thought I was finally going to be able to truly relate to someone on TV and instead I got devi who is frankly, a shit person tbh
