Loved part 2, that's going to make an excellent tree once it's had time to recover and eventually go in a shallow pot!

Thank you, much appreciated! Not much growth yet, but it's still looking healthy several weeks later, so I think it will be fine. Yes, I plan to put it in a more shallow pot in a year or two.

For sure, I'll at least give a quick fall update sometime in the next month! It didn't do much growing the first half of this growing season, recovering from the repot I'm sure. It put on some growth the last couple months so it's now settled in. I really like the deep green color of the foliage on this tree.

Nice really appreciate it. I am about to start a bonsai hobby as well and i think Hinoki cypress gonna be my first tree witch i will be working on. Gathering as much information as i can to make it successful. Also thank you for the videos you do , they are really relaxing and enjoyable to watch 👍

Eager to see this trees progress as I am trying to figure out the soils to water matrix for my conifers. Now its getting warmer so I have to throw that into the mix. Tow water once per day or twice...Thanks for sharing your journey...

Thanks for your interest! I've been enjoying video creation, so I plan to continue for the foreseeable future. The hot dry months of July and August are indeed tough (I'm in the Inland Northwest so I think it's even hotter and drier than the west side of the Cascades). For my bigger pots, one watering a day generally seems to be enough. I also put a 40-60 percent shade cloth over many of my trees during July/August.
