- Ride along in an F/A-18F Super Hornet for a section takeoff followed by clean & dry checks. These checks are done to check for leaks and to ensure that nothing has unintentionally fallen off of the aircraft. They are preformed after every takeoff while in transit to the working area. NAS Fallon.
Does anyone know the history of the patch on my right arm?
*This video has been vetted for sensitive information. Enjoy!
I havent been to Fallon Nv in 20 plus years and as you were powering up and rolling, I said, that has to be Fallon... ahhhh the cheap gambling and beer, good times..
You and your comrades are the cream of US Navy captain pilots. Respect ! 🙏
These are great! Thanks for sharing so we can learn what millions never get a chance to do. Thanks for your service too!
I flew the Buccaneer in the RAF against Canadian F18s in Scotland many many years ago on exercise, our 4 ship skimmed the sea at 20ft ( to avoid kicking up spray ) and went right under the Canadian c.a.p and on to the target apparently without a single blip on the f18 radar.
The Buccaneer like me is confined to the scrap heap but I’m pretty sure the f18 has an improved radar and threat detection system.
You were in Black Aces and Jolly Rogers? Those are two iconic squadrons, sir!
Indeed
Hi Alex, I'm happy to see this marvelous machines and you in there as a skilled pilot. Be lucky.
Just sending more positive vibes/comments your way, like everyone else really enjoying these thank you for taking the time to post these. Obviously, they need some music though! (for the love of all things holy, I'm joking about the music, settle down dorks).
Glad to know you still in ACTION sir !!. May u keep touching the sky with glory. 👍🏻
Nice to see you 😁. I love this angle👍 (from France)
The best job ever, congratulations!!!!
I taught at Fallon for three years. Really good times.
Thank you Alex for sharing this awesome Video! Have a good day!Greetings from Bavaria
Thank you so much for sharing! keep ´em coming! Hornet is my childhood dream. Love carrier ops and everything related and try to replicate what i learned in my simulator in VR (it´s the far i could go but it makes closer to my childhood dream). Take care and be safe.
such a cool video and again thank you for all of theses amazing videos you have been a big part of inspiration for me and its been a blast watching all of your videos and finding ways to help me work to getting into becoming a Navy pilot!
Great vid. Question: Watching Top Gun Maverick one would think that top gun is still at Miramar. I thought it was moved to Fallon. Are there any Top Gun elements still at Miramar?
You’re correct. Top Gun is in Fallon, however, they do still “det” out of San Diego every now and then for the BFM phase of training.
@@AlexBowman_Ventures Thanks for your response. Not sure of the meanings of 'det' and BFM. lol
@@cogitoergosum1474 detachment and basic fighter maneuvers 👍
Great clip Alex. Something I've always wondered about with the USN is how you're streamed post-T45 for single seat or family model. I know that in role disposal on the Hawk in the RAF service need always came first (as I'm sure it does with the USN) but that some people were better suited to single seat than others (not that this remains a choice with the Tornado gone!). Same with NFO streaming for strike or EWO on the Growler. Stay safe.
Great question. Everyone is trained single seat in the F/A-18 during the year long FRS. At the end of the FRS prior to squadron placement, usually prior to the final phase of CQ, pilots put in there preference of east coast/west coast and E/F. I put in a preference of east coast Foxtrots (much love to my WSOs) for the larger ready room and enjoyment of flying with those bros. More lethal combo when everyone’s working together IMO. That being said I was slated west coast foxtrots and joined VFA-41 as my first fleet squadron. After that your pilots have the option to switch it up and join E or F squadrons so you are never stuck with one platform. As an FRS instructor I flew legacy F/A-18Cs and E/F supers.
love these videos bro thanks for sharing
Приветствую тебя Алекс восхищаюсь твоими полетами
I love your vids. Sir, you earned a sub.
Really love this stuff.
In the dictionary under cool it says “all fighter pilots” and nothing else!
Hope none of those PA AC aren’t cutting the dogleg off the Victor airway at B16. We lost a guy to a midair with a C172 there when he was pulling off his bombing run. Fallon is an incredible place and we always assume we are the only guys around there. But we aren’t
Can we see what it looks like when you land at night on the carrier. Pretty please
Naval Aviation is always there and the F-18 Super Hornet 🐝 is always there
Very cool keep up the awesomeness!!
Curious if you have an unlimited runway how fast could a F/18 go before the wheels fell off/blew or the plane became unstable. Also what is max take off speed on the runway. Is it like 300mph?
I would imagine they stay well below the rated speed of tires. Flying the ball is what 120kts or so?
@@gregson99landing the hornet and super hornet is about being "on speed". its weight dependent. on speed with no stores and 8000 lbs of gas is probably more like 135-140kts, where on speed with 2000 lbs is probably closer to 130kts.
@@Roofedhobo good point.
Awesome , Thanks 😊
Hey man, the navy’s been talking to me about doing a Naval Aviator contract since I have a few college degrees and did the tests already to see if I’d qualify. I was curious if there was a to reach out to you to ask some questions about the lifestyle and such before I decided.
Do it .
Already in Black Aces?) how often do you change squadrons?
How did the checks go today!
Is this Tom Cruise`s double?
Just started following you on instagram Alex. Do you think you will return to flying?
💖💕
Can’t make out the patch. Great videos though.
Hola
Doesn’t anyone wear their gloves anymore? I’ve had CO’s and Wing Commanders that insisted on it.
I have too. It’s important to walk to the jet with gloves and they would be nice to have if you had to eject, but I like to feel the a/c on my hands. I’ll risk it.
What will do when you reach 50.000 subscribers to your channel? You should do something special to celebrate
🎉

This is what I wanted to do in the air force. Ended up enlisted and doing metnav. Guess the world needs ditch diggers too
"to ensure that nothing has unintentionally fallen off of the aircraft."... ummmm ...shouldn't that be checked BEFORE you take off ?? LOLOLOLOL,,
Yes! It’s checked before and after takeoff and then again on the flight home.
Don’t worry RS64…Mr. Bowman’s got it covered…you can rest easy…..
STRKFITRON 41 - VFA-41 Black Aces Plaque, Korea patch... (and of course I looked that up). Great video, keep m coming Alex. All left for me is getting back into my F-18 ... .... .... (in DCS :-) ) - take care.
I'm just here to get a heart from the best US Navy pilot
Like no can music, thanks for sharing & all the best🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

It’s weird how your just concentrating so hard on the other aircraft, while your having to fly yours.
Alex you and your Rio are having a great time
Is it possible for me to get a ride in the F-18?
Well, my son just put in his app. For the August board.(OCS/Pilot )..let's see what happens 😁
Good luck to him!!
Love this.
