  • Location: Old Ossian Cemetery
    System: Ossian
Testing schedule: Every day at noon
Testing time: 12:01:16 PM (1 minute late)
Cycle when tested: 5-10 second blast
    Recorder used: Sony PX
Sirens heard: Model 7: 2,313 feet (0.439 miles) NNE, Model 2: 1,409 feet (0.267 miles) ENE
Other notes: While we were in Ossian recording the Model 7, I decided to get an ambiance with one of my audio recorders of both sirens in this town doing their noon whistle. I planted the recorder closer to the Model 2 than to the 7, so it winds up a few seconds before the 7 does, although it winds down only about a second before the 7. So it sounds like the 2 went off for a bit longer than the 7 did on this day, interestingly enough. Regardless, both sirens sound pretty cool together. The T-128 on the southwest side of town does not do noon blasts; I believe it's only tested during Indiana SWA as Wells County does not test their sirens regularly. Enjoy!
