Alternate Route Information
Going to LA take I 40 west to I 15 south to the Roy Rogers exit in Apple Valley for 18 west. I don’t recall it being marked as 18 west but it is the Roy Rogers exit. Turn right going west on 18 and after about 20-25 miles, 18 will end on route 138. Merge to the right on 138 going west toward Palmdale. When you get to the town of Little Rock, start looking for the left hand turn. It will be the first left turn lane you come to and it is at a light. Turn left going up a big hill with several lights on it. Stay in the right lane to get on 14 southbound. 14 South will take you to I 5 south or I 405 south. There is a scale location on 14 but I have never seen it open or heard of it being open.
When I still was trucking, I had a dedicated route for 3 months from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City and, no joke, not one single time were the northbound or southbound scales open when I came through the Cajon Pass.
Lake: Not a dumb question. This scale only has the ability to have a line about ten trucks long before they impact the roadway. It takes this driver over five minutes to go from the back of the line to pulling out. During the day, when this scale is open, ten trucks pass by in thirty seconds. That equates to about 90% of the time, even during the day when the scales are manned, that the "Scales Closed" sign will be displayed. Hence, most trucks get bypassed anyway, regardless of Prepass.
Hi lake122, The alarm sound you heard was my Prepass monitor letting me know I was informed by the scale to enter. The other trucks may have been given a green light on their monitor. The monitor lets me know by alarm and red or green light. The monitor is mounted out of the camera's view in this video. I will be adding a follow=up video which will include the monitor next time. Not a dumb question at all. Thanks.
Both those scales closed northbound southbound at 10 PM
this little scale is out of commission due to las years fires it got burned down and as of 2/11/17 they are not making any effort to rebuild.
Always thought this was a bad place to put a weigh station. You are coming off that grade, and then traffic is entering the highway as you need to exit to the scale.
Ok, dumb question...why are there a bunch of truck just blowing by the station while you are in it?
Equipped with PrePass ...most likely the scale off-ramp was backing up to the freeway with trucks, and the scale master closed the scales.
That little inspection lane just beyond the scale house to the right, do they make you back into it when you get pulled in for inspection? Looks like there's no other way to enter it. Seems odd to me.
I don*t know how it works at this station... On the other side of the I-15, there is a scale house also with several inspection halls. I am very sure, when the DOT is in a bad mood, they send you over there. I wish you always a "ticket free trip"

+Craig Bass It is what it is. The one ticket I ever got in first year over the road was at this scale house. I was a few hundred pounds over on my tandems. I was instructed to back into this spot. Then I had to take my best guess and adjust tandems in front of all the other drivers leaving. Then I had to pull up and back through the oversize lane on the right, and merge back into the regular line for a reweigh. Then I had to park in the inspection lane again to go in and get my sentencing. That'll ruin your day!

All the times I did the Cajon, I never once had to go through a scale. Just timing, I guess.
Let's vote to pass a law to remove all scales in each state

Who builds a scale half way down a steep, long grade? A brake lining company?? Very dangerous scale with all of those 4-wheelers coming off of Hwy 138 trying to dodge the trucks. Seen too many near misses to count.
Does anyone know if the northbound has cameras if you blow right thru it ?

a) was sind banning scales? Ich kann das übersetzen, kann aber nichts damit anfangen.
b) was ist, wenn du hier beladen über die empty Spur fährst? Wird das Auto automatisch durchleuchtet oder fährst du dort über eine Waage? Mit Sicherheit ziehen die dir die Hammelbeine lang
Diese scheiß Maßangaben in Meilen, Fuß und Zoll, Gallonen, Fahrenheid, pounds, ounces würden mich wahnsinnig machen. Das ist doch Mittelalter

Ich denke schon das die DOT experten das merken würden. Ich glaub auch nicht das das viel ärger gibt. LKW durchleuchten, ich meine meist geschieht das nicht, bei ein par waagen, da sehe ich irgend welche verdächtige geräte. Werd ich mal raus suchen.
Von kanada in die usa, da wird jeder lkw geröngt oder was auch immer. Bei den festen "röntgen geräten" da bin ich immer ein bissel schneller durchgefahren, weil ich kann nicht so viel strahlung ab wie die einheimischen.

Danke für die Informationen.,ich hatte den Ausdruck "Bannings scales " schon einige male gehört und mir wunders was, darunter vorgestellt.
Ja, das Röntgen hat mir auch nie gefallen. Auf einigen Fähren hatte ich auch das zweifelhafte Vergnügen.
Ich habe gehört, dass jetzt besonders an einigen Grenzen wegen der Flüchtlinge in Europa hart kontrolliert wird..
Es gibt da ein video von einem ungarischen Kutscher, der bei Calais Flüchtlinge auf der Autobahn jagt. Das video hat engl. Untertitel, aber seine Wut kann man hören. Einfach Calais auf YT eingeben und du findest etliche videos,.

Hab ich gesehen, was nich da dran irgend wie nich verstehe ist, wo eure neuen einwohner die funktelefonverbindungen her bekommen. Als ich das letzte mal in DE war, da hab ich ne verbindung für den laptop gebraucht. Die wollte mir niemand geben weil ich keine adresse in DE hatte und nur reisepass ohne adresse. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!! Das kann ich irgend wie nich wechseln.

Für ein Smartphone brauchst Du keine Genehmigung. Du brauchst außer Telefon nur eine Simkarte, die du bei Bedarf in jedem Supermarkt bekommst und dort nachladen kannst, wenn du sie leertelefoniert hast. Die billigsten gibt es, so glaube ich, bei ALDI und Lidl.
Ein ehemaliger Arbeitskollege fährt jetzt bei der Müllabfuhr und hat vorige Woche mehrere Paletten gelbe Müllsäcke beim Sozialamt abgeliefert. Dort hat er Aufnahmen gemacht, wie diese neuen Mitbürger ihre Einkaufsschecks auf einem Tisch ausbreiten und die Bilder abgeschickt haben
Ich wohne in einem kleinen Ort im Emsland ( ca. 12,000 Einwohner ).Dieses kleine Dorf hat inzwischen fast 700 Personen aufgenommen und erwartet für diesen Monat noch etwa 80 Personen. Die U.K. hat insgesamt 216 von diesen Mitbürgern aufgenommen, danach den Eurotunnel für diese Leute geschlossen. Zur Zeit ist DE das einzige Land, das diese Leute aufnimmt.Angie Merkel hat die Quittung letzten Sonntag bei drei Landtagswahlen bekommen.

Es werden irre Informationen von Schleppern nach Syrien geschickt. Dort wird denen vorgelogen dass jeder eine komplett eingerichtete Wohnung, zumeist Neubau erhält. Angeblich bekommt jede Familie ein Auto, jeder erhält einen Arbeitsplatz mit mehreren tausend Euro pro Monat. Tatsache ist, alle bekommen kostenlos komplette medizinische und zahnärztliche Versorgung.
Mehrere zigtausend haben sich in mehreren Städten angemeldet und beziehen mehrfach das Geld. Man muss halt nur verschiedene Namen angeben und den Ausweis "verlieren". Inzwischen werden alle fotografiert und deren Fingerabdrücke genommen. Das war anfangs bei dem Andrang nicht möglich.
