    15:00 Water hammer pressure wave generates from valve and travels upstream upto surgetank. Valve is located in powerhouse near turbine. So shouldn't 'L' in time period formula mean penstock length?

    at 10:20,, there was only (H-hft) at denominator, but you put the value of net head is (H-hft-hfp), what is the correct one? the formula or the value? please

    Hello sir... 😀 I was wondering if we have to design this surge tank in volume (m3): How do we consider the height of the tank, do we have to take difference between zmax and zdown or zup and zdown or is there other way to calculate it?

    Can you solve this ?
    A power canal, bed width 15m, may be assumed to be rectangular in shape with a steady state of flow of 3m. The canal supplies water to power house three turbines, each turbine rated at a discharge of 30 m³/s. If the in the power house is suddenly thrown off so that two of the turbines have to be shut down, what would be the height of the surge in the canal.

    In substuting the value of (H-hft), you use net head(H-hft-htp); is it correct??? It's ok that the value you got is in safer side.

    your equation for determining (AS) is different with (Novak book)! if diamter of surge chamber is 6m, according to novak book As= 28.8 but according to your formula AS= 50 Why? and Zmax = 11.63 for Novak book and AS=28 but also by your formulas so different why?
