'Tsvimbo ne Dohwe' is the culmination of a bold journey to reconnect Africa and her children to their roots and cultural DNA. Being Rutendo Jackie's second Extended Play (E.P) project this classic collection of 6 timeless songs carefully selected from Zimbabwe's rich traditional music archives will demonstrate why Rutendo, affectionately known as 'Soko', is the current leader in fusing sweet African melodies. Her mastery is unmistakable as she together with Afro Blue Band continue to rock stage after stage across the country.
Every home has a 'Tsvimbo' whose holder wields power derived from family custodianship. Rutendo is a wielder of Tsvimbo who has decided to cast her staff in pursuit of Dohwe, a coveted african fruit which symbolizes the yielding of results. The act comes with its share of uncertainty albeit more often than not figuratively used to express hopeful anticipation.
Welcome to Rutendo Jackie's second E.P and we hope to take you back in time so we can pick ourselves up and forge ahead with stable campuses. Our culture is our Identity and only we can keep it alive.
A special mention to my team and fellow creatives who all made this project a success. Project was mixed and mastered by legendary Keith Farquharson making sure the sound is comensurate with the weight of this project. Recording was done at 3D Keys by Corny. A collection of some of Zimbabwe's finest instrumentalists namely Trust Samende, Bullet, Singleton, Josh, and Frank made this project all the more powerful. The greatest honor goes to the music legends whose songs we did. They laid a foundation so solid we can only play our part in building a sustainable traditional music legacy.
