I come back to this video every year, can't like it again but still grateful. Butties gave me the confidence skill to look after my own car, something I now take pride in

Thanks for the clear video - it really helped me change my 2013 Meriva's filter. Despite regular servicing I'm pretty sure it'd never been done before.

@@baconbuttties meriva b ....have you ever had a problem where ... I lost my power steering, at the same time my instruments fault light came on TC ABS, PS, EM, CDL and park brake (which does not stay on when trying to park up). Also rear door lock motors going on off and day time running light flashing.
I'm convinced it's either a wiring problem, a connection problem or the BCM.

@@christreanor6637 No never had a problem like that, but sounds very strange. Rear door locks usually close and open with the handbrake, also did you get service code 68 which means failure of the hydroelectric power steering pump? or no codes?

@@baconbuttties yeah it had a few codes come up, but tends to stay on code 68...which is power steering. I j u St know it's not that though as all the faults occur together...come on together go of together, now a week on they have stayed on. It's like a connection had worked loose and now finally is completely disconnected, or likewise a break in a wire. Logic tells me that half a dozen things can't go fault one minute and fix themselves the next and continue to do so. The vauxhall dealer (I actually work for) want to replace each unit until it's cured....jokers! PS PUMP £1200, ABS UNIT £1200, E PARK BRAKE MOTOR £700 ect.... then you got programme and labour on top of that. Again, logic tells me if it is any one component, it's most likely the BCM,.. ABOUT £650 + VAT.
I'm gonna take it to a propper auto electrician....if I can't spot anything obvious myself. Our mechanic just extracted the codes and told me what I already know....and this is a "gold standard" tech! I'd be embarrassed if an untrained customer knew more than me about my own job.

@@christreanor6637 Main dealers are the worst for diagnosing faults and usually don't know their job very well! A good auto electrician can usually pinpoint the problem.
