I do not recommend using sealant on top of glossed parts because I had plenty of experience with the gloss turning into a sticky bubbly mess. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesnt. If it doesnt work, you will most likely need to wipe the faceup.
All the tools and materials that I use are listed in my Q&A videos and Doll FAQ :) You can find the links to them in the description. I am not familiar with different airbrush kits or brands, I only bought the one that was recommended to me.
I bought it on ebay. It is an Iwata HP-A Plus. I am getting a different airbrush with a larger nozzle for the sealant though. I use 0.2 for paint and 0.5 for sealant.
I buy songs and licenses to use them in my videos :) They are not that expensive and by doing that you will support the artist and encourage them to share more of their work.
Not if the faceup is sealed nicely at the very end :) You can still touch it and even clean it gently if needed. But you want to keep any touching at a minimum cause as soon as you do that you will deposit some oil from your skin and it will make the face collect dust and dirt even more rapidly than normal.
Sadly I do not have the bodies, my clients only send me the heads to save on shipping costs. You can find links to my Flickr and Facebook pages in the description where you will find photos my own dolls with their bodies, clothes, wigs etc. Or you can Google "BJD" and will find a ton of photos.
So.. There goes my confidence in trying to do my own faceups. Agh, why much I always get so nervous after watching people who are so good? It's supposed to inspire me, not worry me!
Thank you very much! Please have a look at the description, you will find the link to the FAQ and Q&A videos I made that answer all of those questions.
One of the great part about BJD's is how lifelike they are- thank your for sharing the possess of making that with it, it was really cool to watch. I'm going to go bestow love on my boy now.
actually that was exactly what I was looking for ^^ i was not familiar with the new youtube set up so I was unable to see the links in the description. Your dolls are very lovely. I actually did google BJD and I found mostly emo-ish gothic dolls, which were pretty but not what I was looking for. Your dolls are much more realistic. Keep up the good work!!
These are very beautiful! I would like to see the finished products though, with the body& hair & clothes & such.. do you think you could make a video that shows them? or do you have an online gallery we could look at?
I used to belly dance, and one of the other dancers had a face shaped aLOT like this doll...her teacher taught her an interesting way to do the corner-of-eye extension on the eye-liner. ON THE LOWER LID, draw an inverted smile, or sorta eyebrow shape. At its highest point, it should touch the lashline. Obviously, the outer end can be much drawn out for the whole drama thing.
Wow!!! You're the best, your faceup was just super cool :D if I were u I may mess up with everything on her face when I try to do those fairy marks, u are super duper talent
I will say that this is simply a miracle of God's creation of this I've never seen such a professional I make dolls for the first time I see this if you have a chance and the time that I will learn to do as beautiful dolls^^
im trying to custom some of my old toys and was wondering if you could recommend a airbrush kit and what brands of paints is good, im only doing monster high dolls so they arent on the same level as yours but it looks like so much fun i want to try. i would be grateful for any advice you could give me !
Is it possible to go over an existing face up? I love my dolls face up but I wish her lips had more of a hint of color. I'd like to do that if I can without ruining what's there.
i'd exprect noo less from one as great as you. so tell me, were the swirls next to the eyes difficult in any way? do you ever have problems getting the left and right side of the face to look alike?
Your creations are very amazing, although there's one problem I have with them. Almost all of the ones I have seen are frowning, and it makes me a bit depressed :( but they are very beautiful!
*jawdrop hey, may i ask where u get the faces? (the canvases that u paint on) do u make them urself or do u buy them? if u bought them, may i know where? :O
When it says sealed x times is that number the amount of times you've sealed it for that certain area of work or the amount of times sealed all together?
The eyes are made from resin or clay, depending on who made them. Some people will include eyes with purchase of the doll but usually you need to buy eyes for a more custom look. Etsy and Wish both have good selection (Etsy especially)

do you consider yourself a professional face-up artist, or is this just something you do for fun? just curious considering the amount of high quality work you do. ^^
Me and my sister are tired of our boring dolls! So we're giving them an anime makeover!! Quick question though: could I use that Crayola airbrush tool for my dolls?? Somebody, please reply.
Andreja, do you have any tips on more Masculine faceups? I have a boy I keep trying to make look like a boy, but his faceup always comes out feminine. >.

I love that you showed a face-up with something extra and different this time (the fairy marks & jewels)! Once again, just stunning!!
Check the description and have a look at the Q&A video, it answers the most common questions, yours included.
MrHobby and Tamiya are the brands I use for gloss. I get them from regular hobby shops.
All the tools and materials that I use are listed in my Q&A videos and Doll FAQ :) You can find the links to them in the description. I am not familiar with different airbrush kits or brands, I only bought the one that was recommended to me.
Out of all the suggestions for bjd faceups, this is my favourite.
Please have a look at the description, my Doll F.A.Q. and Q&A videos answer all those questions.
I bought it on ebay. It is an Iwata HP-A Plus. I am getting a different airbrush with a larger nozzle for the sealant though. I use 0.2 for paint and 0.5 for sealant.
The company and sculpt name are shown at the beginning of each video. 0:08 for this one.

I'm going to go bestow love on my boy now.
If you do a RUclips search "how to change BJD eyes" you will find plenty of videos :)
I love your face ups! and I know you answer questions like these everyday, but what color pastels do you like to use/ use the most?
I do not recommend using those. Most of them contain ingredients that could harm/stain the resin.
actually that was exactly what I was looking for ^^ i was not familiar with the new youtube set up so I was unable to see the links in the description. Your dolls are very lovely. Your work is awesome :D

After watching you do this, I want to try it out ^o^
@mercilessgladiator that is not the point of the video :)

When you're turning the head at the end, she looks so alive! I guess that's urethane eyes for you.

I love that song audio logo 026 but how do u find that song easier like MP3 downloads and stuff?
how delicate do you have to be while holing the heads? can you give it a tight grip or do you hold it gently?
*jawdrop
hey, may i ask where u get the faces? (the canvases that u paint on)

Your actual make make-up is probably amazing.

Hi
I'm korean young student. I am clusmy at using English. Hope you can uderstand.
And please answer for my question~
I want to know you sprinkle at the very beginning. You are airbrushing.
What is that? And I watching this image. It is of help for me.
Thank you~~
She is airbrushing blushing onto the cheeks for a soft, uniform application.
is a fixative a sealant? that's what i have to use in school when i work with pastels and charcoal... >< i really wish i could do this xD
on average it takes 2 days per head.
would it be alright to use normal face make up on these and then seal it...if that's even possible...?
Wow! Where do you buy the eyes?? :)
Do you use the gloss straight (out of the bottle or without adding anything to it) or do you thin it with something first?
Hello! I LOVE your face ups! Do you sell them???
How do you seal it? Just spray coat the sealant and wait for it to go dry?
Have a question where do you get all your items from?♥☻

I don't think you can, because all those are probably washable...
Kokoro Miza
Washable, huh? I see...What should I use then?
Oranginality5 I don't know, maybe a permanent marker like a sharpie or something in the airbrush. Just don't use crayola markers or something
Kokoro Miza
NO! NEVER use any makers on a doll!!!!
Oranginality5 lol, I meant trying to put the sharpie on the airbrush, not actually using the marker.
what gloss do you use? amazing job btw!!
This is so gorgeous! Shame it's not permanent.
Andreja, do you have any tips on more Masculine faceups? I have a boy I keep trying to make look like a boy, but his faceup always comes out feminine. >.
