One of the primary concerns of all home gym owners should be safety. When lifting alone in our garages and basements, there isn’t anyone there to help us in case of a problem.
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t lift alone in our home gyms. It does mean that we need to take extra precautions. From how we lift to how much we lift and everything in between, we must exercise caution to stay healthy and continue training.
Aside from great lifting hygiene and habits, there are several key pieces of equipment all home gym owners should have to help keep them safe while lifting alone.
Key among these is a great rack. A very close second is some type of safety pin or strap for that rack.
In this video I review these two primary methods of staying safe, give my opinion on which is better, and let you know how to save a little money if buying them for yourself.
