You can say the same for the C6/C7.R vettes Versus the C8.R. I appreciate the efficiency and technology of new engine platforms but sometimes I just miss the barbaric/guttural sounds
@@HonestDiecast I know that the turbos quiet it down way too much. It has to be the exhaust manifold set up, because the street 488 and Pista have a soulful hum with the proper uncorked exhaust. The 458 GT2/GTE sound better compared to these, of course.
LOL I was trying to figure out whether it was a sim or reality, I needed to see the trees swaying and the camera jitters to conclude its reality. Ah sims went so far
In person the F430 and 458 were so loud they actually hurt my eardrums. I was surprised at how quiet the 488 was just by slapping on a turbo. Why are some cars still loud but not others. Even F1 cars are quiet and they rev to what, 15k? (Which is impressive but compared to the insane numbers from the V8 era it's nothing)
It's an interesting question, because I see a lot of people seem to think "turbo" automatically = muted, strangled, suffocated. But there's too many counter-examples for that to be true. My three all-time favorite turbo race cars, the F40 LM, the Sport Quattro S1, and the Sauber C9 are all as loud as anything else on track!
Those prob had less restrictive mufflers and maybe they didnt even had any. The 2017 911 rsr for example had no mufflers and sounded so loud, then 2018 version received mufflers and it didnt sound as loud
@@RS-nq8xk Exactly, it's not due to twin-scroll design if the Novitec 488GTB still sounds like this: ruclips.net/video/iSDS1vT8ksQ/видео.html It has to be down to exhaust routing and packaging for some kind of performance/efficiency gain on track that just also happens to make the cars super quiet.
That’s a good question! I think reason for BOP in WEC is to keep the GTE field relatively close together and without BOP one manufacturer would just run away with proceeding. I don’t really care that it has a practically identical body to the GT3 Evo, because it looks good, but it is really hard to know what you are looking at.
Ferrari seems to be a little lazy in making their racecars look different. :) Unlike Porsche where you can see obvious differences between a cup, gt3 or rsr. I think I managed to find some very small differences between the various 488 racecars. The 2021 488 GTE doesn't have those "slats" (openings) in the front fender to release the hot air. On the GTE the fender is completely closed. On the GTE the diffuser has 2 horizontal strips on the bottom in the middle part, the GT3 and Modif. have all vertical lines. Also the exhaust has a vertical strip on the GTE and Modificata, but not on the GT3. So GT3 no vertical strip and slats GTE with vertical strip and no slats, different diffuser Modif. with vertical strip and slats btw: I'm releasing a 488 GTE video tomorrow. :) Pure coincidence.
Can't wait to see the video, my friend ;) As for your analysis, it's absolutely correct. The only problem is that in 2019 it happened to me to see a GT3 with that vertical element in the exhaust. It was during a 24h Series race at Mugello in which GTE cars are not allowed. But except for that occasion, yes I've never seen that exhaust's vertical element on any GT3s, so in theory GT3 2020 body + vertical strip = Modificata. Last year I managed to write an article in order to put in comparison all the aesthetic differences of the 488 GTE and GT3 cars, showing also what was introduced with the 2018 Evo kits on both cars. I should complete it by also adding what was new with the Evo 2020 package on the GT3s and talk about this Modificata, but I'm always short on time to take care of that website.. If you want to have a look at the article, here's the link: www.themarbles.it/2020/06/ferrari-488-gt3-488-gte-the-fraternal-twins/
Yes, the 458 RIPS with eardrum bursting loudness. Same with the F430. When I was at the track and heard the turbo I was shocked at how much quieter it was.
With more aggressive aero, the lower horsepower figures are a moot point. GT3 cars are faster than the road-going ones in terms of lap times. Edit: I also forgot to mention weight reduction and BoP. They still play a part.
So basically they finally get sick of being limited, and went full GRANDE MACHINA with these thing 700 HP, on a GTE chassis, is No. Fucking. Joke Edit: Oops. Its apparently ran on the GT3Evo 2020 chassis. My bad.
The GT3 and GTE chassis are almost identical. You can switch a GT3 to GTE and vice versa with changing only the regulation relevant parts, which includes engine (even though it is technically the same), electronics and some aero bits. This "GT Modificata" is ultimately just a regular car with the intent to (and support for) being sold to private customers instead of teams.
Literally the most redundant racecar ever. You could just buy a GT3/E and do the same thing the Modificata does, then enter the car in WEC/GTWC or any other series the two GT Cars participate in.
„you could just buy the gte and do the same things as modificata and enter the car in wec“. How are you going to do that you genius? This car is literally a 488 gte evo without the engine detune. Literally the only reason gte engine is detuned is to make it be able to compete under wec regulations. This is just a rich mans toy to have fun in the track with a 488 gte that is not limited by the bop that gte class requires. If you remove the detune from the gte to „make it like the modificata“ that car will no longer be able to compete in any racing series. What the hell is your point?
@@timothyscherer9163 So? Doesn't disprove his point. All a series cares for is compliance with the homologation and technical regs. Whether the car had been modified or not is irrelevant so long that is the case. All this "Modificata" comes down to is a different ECU programming.
