4 Chords 15 Songs! TUTORIAL | Lindsey's Uke

- ** The use of the word "Beats" is used incorrectly in this video. Please substitute my use of beats for "Measure". ** All of these songs contain 4 beats per measure, but some songs change chords every one to two measures. In other words, one measure would be one complete strumming pattern (down down up up down up). I apologize for the mix up and any inconvenience
The point of this video is to show you how many songs you play with just a few chords (in the same pattern) mix it up a little an you have many more!
You hear a song that you liked? Most of the songs continue with the same chord progression for if you wanted to learn the whole song!
Hope you enjoy this Ukulele Tutorial! It uses only 4 easy chords and shows the many songs you can play!
The songs I played in order
1. Don't Sop Believin' | Journey
2. I'm Yours | Jason Maraz
3. Jar of Hearts | Christina Perri
4. Forever Young | Alpaville
5. Take on Me | A-ha
6. Sorry | Justin Bieber
7. Sit Still Look Pretty | Daya
8. She will be Loved | Maroon 5
9. Hey Soul Sister | Train
10. Let it Be | The Beatles
11. Let it Go | Idina Menzel (Frozen)
12. Can You Feel the Love Tonight | Multiple artists (The Lion King)
13. Hot n Cold | Katy Perry
14. Starving | Hailee Steinfield
15. Time to Say Goodnight | Andrea Boccelli Видеоклипы

C Major (C-E-G)
G Major (G-B-D)
A Minor (A-C-E)
F Major (F-A-C)
You’re welcome! 🥰
A minor my friend not major.
Kanav Kohli Oof thanks
@@CloudyROBLOXRMVgamesandmore Oof it got further twisted, i only meant for the minor to be on A.
C is Major (C-E-G) and so is F (F-A-C) and G (G-B-D). The only minor is the A she plays. (A-C-E is correct)
Correct Version:
C Major (C-E-G)
G Major (G-B-D)
A Minor (A-C-E)
F Major (F-A-C)
Cloudy Drawz シ thank you
Shut the fuck up
why can’t i change to the G chord without stopping to think about it
That's the same with me 🤣🤭
Same 😔
Omg yes literally 😭
You have to practice the transition from the previous chord many times in a row, you’ll get it!
Same!!!
My 8yo daughter got a ukulele for Christmas and we were just browsing RUclips for some tutorials when we stumbled onto this video and you blew us away! Thanks for inspiring my little girl!!

Picked up my uke today and went looking for some help to play it and yours was the first video I tried. It was a great start! A four year old video, amd you are still helping people begin their journey.
Also the song "Hey, how you doing oh I'm doing just fine I lied I'm dying inside"
Nice👏
Ok gotta play that now xd

I picked up ukulele a year and a half ago and I’m so happy I did.
I received an ukulele for Christmas and have watched sooo many videos with little to no progress. This video has helped me to progress in just a couple of hours!! Thanks so much!! I now believe that I can learn!! You're a great teacher!!
Guys why is no one talking about how she looks like Jennifer Lawrence ??
Do you even know who Jennifer Lawrence is
omg I know I thought the same thing!
Because she doesnt...
Who? 😂
No she does not!?!
This was such a day brightener. My dads a classical guitar teacher at a local university, and ive always followed his very strict instruction. The light heartedness of this and your smile while playing reminds me of why i love playing music. Its just meant to fun.
This is the very first video tutorial, of many thousands, that I have watched where the "instructor" mentions how many beats per chord the strumming change. This is exactly what I needed to hear to understand strumming patterns better. Thanks so much for sharing!
Who else is here In 2020 trying to learn uke
Yooo lol
Meee
Me! but i suck :(

I try to sing with can't help fall in love and it turned out so nice
THANK YOU!! it would be amazing if you could do more tutorials like this one! :) I loved it and even if I can't sing that well, I love to play all this songs together!:) :) :)
Thank you, Lindsey!! I just got a ukulele for Christmas this year and I’m learning some songs through this video (more specifically, “Let It Be”). Bless you and everything you do! ❤️
June 2021- 54 year old mom picked up my son's $40 ukulele last week and so happy to have found you Lindsay! 🥳
GOSH YOU CAN SING. LIKE REALLY WELL.
My ukulele teacher recommended this for me. AND I'M SO GLAD I FOUND YOUUUUUUUUU
You are so easy to watch and what a voice. Thank you for taking the time to share this.
Great way to learn playing ukulele and to practice strumming... i believe that as u go along and practice at ur own pace u'l get there... patience is the key 😊 Thanks for this vid!
You rock, Lindsey! Awesome video! 4 chords and 15 songs in under 7 minutes? BRILLIANT 😊
This is amazing I love it
I really really do want more of these
You’re amazingly gifted ❤️ I’m planning to try ukelele and this inspired me to push it through 😍
Hi Lindsey! Thank you for this tutorial. I just started playing ukulele this 31st of March and as of today, April 5th, I'm doing a slow progress but I think I'm getting better. I learned a lot from this video especially during the deciding time if I'll buy a uke or not.
Looking forward for more of your tutorials! Stay safe! Sending hugs from the Philippines! 😊 🇵🇭
Lindsey,
I truly enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing and making me smile. Keep singing and playing.
Sincerely.
as in WOW!!!
THANK YOU... it was awesome!! surely my daughter will love this as she starts to play her 1st ukulele as beginner...
I don't even have an ukulele
You must buy one....get a tenor ukulele....its a nice size
Me too might get one.
Lol
I don't have too😢
Sanjana Jarrison i snorted at the comment 💀
Thank u for the easy tutorial. Now I can play a song for ukelele during stay at home season.
I like playing "Somewhere over the rainbow" with these chords as well as "Price Tag" by Jessie J.
Great video!
Thanks for the tips!
Uke and roll!
I’m the only one struggling to strum and change cords...
Ok...
Edit: thanks guys for the likes I’m happy to see I’m not alone 😌
Well me too.. I think I broke my fingers😂
Keep practicing!! It will get easier I swear xD
I can’t change it fast
I can change it in 5 seconds
That’s my highest
nope
G thanks so much in the past month I’ve gotten way better 😌
Wonderful!!! Thanks so much for sharing! I can't wait to buy my Uke and get going.
Wow! You just gave me so much hope. If I learn just that one song. Thank you so so so so much!
I've watched dozens of ukulele tutorials but this one taught me more about music than anything I've ever seen.
I have a ukulele but yours sounds right.. like the sound is sweet. When I play the same, mine doesn't sound like that, it doesn't sounds right, the sound it makes is "harder"😭 I think I didn't tune it right but I have tried everything and nothing sounds good😔
You should download the app GuitarTuna trust me, that's gotta work
Maybe you just dont have the same uke. I have a tenor, which sounds like you said "harder" than a concert or soprano
If this is not helpful maybe your uke is not properly tuned. Download the app Guitartuna, I use it and it really helps...
your playing too hard
Luna G I had the same problem! Look up “How to tune a Ukulele” on RUclips. Took like 30 seconds and I was off and running.
Or maybe it's just the way your ukulele sounds, I first had one that sounded horrible and then exchanged it for a better one (which was even a bit cheaper)
Beat = 1
Measure = 4
So most songs the chords are changing every 1-2 measures
Olivia Ferguson ok thanks. That means with the First chord down down up up and with the Second chord down up down down and so on? Sorry for my english!
Phew! thanks for that now me ukulele sound reem😘
Incredible! Loved it
Thanks Lindsey!!! You’ve truly opened up a lot of doors with my beginning of ukulele playing. Definitely going to put all of these to good use. And you have a beautiful voice and are very talented. Keep Rockin 🎸🎸🎸 on!!!
I really like this chord progression. What I like to do is switch up my strumming and speed according to the song - just know you’re definitely not limited to doing it at this speed, or this strum pattern
Lindsey,
I am a music teacher and I have my students play along to this video when they are finally introduced to a minor. It is wonderfully done and I thank you very much. I chose your video because your vocal model (singing voice) is outstanding.
However, you use some music terminology incorrectly, I would love it if you would re-record it use the right terms. In this video you use the word "beats" when you mean "measures" or "bars."
A measure is a group of accented and unaccented beats. These songs are all in 4, so there are four beats in each group or measure/bar. Think of the bar/measure as one complete strumming pattern (down, down up, up down up). Some of these songs change only every two bars, or two complete strumming patterns. Note that bar is different than barre (fretting multiple strings at once).
Beat means the steady pulse in music. These songs are typically about 136-144 beats per minute. Most of these songs change chords every four beats, or every one bar.
Kris VerSteegt Thank you for the feedback. I am glad to hear that you use this video for your students!
I have put a notice in the description of this video for the mix up of technical language. Hope this helps future viewers.
That tells a lot about you as a teacher. The girl is stupidly strumming the same chord progression over and over again even though the songs she is singing do not use the progression or the chords she is playing. And you are using the video as the example for kids?
Let's see some examples:
Jar of hearts. Where is that half-a-bar of Fm after F?
Forever young - complete BullSh... C, G, Am, F, Dm, Am, F, G
Hey soul sister. What was the Am for in the 2nd part?
Let it be... Again, there is a place where it goes straight to F, she still plays the Am.
Time to say goodbye... If she sang one bar, it would be OK. When she started another, again she messed up by keeping her progression and not starting over from C.
I listened Elise Ecklund v=Ljmm1wCssJg right after. That girl knows what she is doing and I think she would be a proper example for teaching kids. At least she does everything correctly.
Dogbrain Incorporated Dude, can you please calm down, Doesn't have to be completely correct for it to sound decent. Personally, I think It's good for beginner uke players, Yes, maybe Elise has more experience but this video was posted possibly one year ago, You shouldn't compare different ukulele players, It's good to give feedback but you shouldn't be so disrespectful and harsh about it.
@@sashaskoda2200 Which part?
@@sashaskoda2200 OK. I get it. This is RUclips, this is the Internet in other words and it is a big garbage bin (no offence) where you have to sort everything on the particular topic out and select the info that suits you. It is a fact and everyone knows it. The girl did the video, she did it with all her mistakes, she has the right and it's on her. And it's OK. She just has to be ready to deal with such comments and she is supposed to know which ones are right and which ones are the cyberbullying type that she actually can just ignore.
But when a teacher chooses a video like that to teach kids, I pitty them about the quality of education they get. And praising a person about a video with obvious deffects, I personally think it is not appropriate.
Imagine you are looking for a Pithagor theorem (sorry for possible misspelling) video and you find a dude saying it is C equals square root of A+B. And you notice a math teacher in a comment praising that dude for the video and saying that he or she teaches kids according to that video. Please describe your reaction.
I appreciate your sincerity. Seriously.
Uau, this is the best tutorial I've seen - made simple, to the point, easy language and explanations and no ego-inflated rethoric. Keep it up, you're very good and nice. ❤️
dude this is so good! I just got my ukulele for Christmas (SOMEHOW we ended up with that money) and it's literally 3:21am while I'm watching this, so I get to surprise everyone I live with when they wake up with my new uke skills! thank you so much lindsey, your voice is amazing and you're brilliant at what you're doing
Her smile is just😍
You need to make more videos like this!love it so much!
Yay...I'm getting one for my birthday next month!
Super excited 😆
Two years later and im seeing this and just made me order a ukelele , I love this 🥺
Thank you for this beautiful video..it was very helpful for a beginner like me☺️
Thank you for your kind free lesson.
Fantastic video. Thanks for sharing!! I learnt so much.
Ok... literally AMAZING!!!🤯🤯
You can also play ‘I don’t know my name’ by Grace vanderwaal with those four chords and the same strumming pattern (you repeat the strumming pattern twice per chord)
The chord progression is C, F, Am, G.
Chorus
C F
I don’t know my name
Am G
I don’t play by the rules of the game
C F
So you say I’m just trying
Am G
Just try ing
Also, this girl is incredible, being able to know all of these songs!! Real talented!
Great tutorial. Thanks 😘
Wow... it was magic!! I can play the ukulele for my first try.... despite I still struggle at changing the chord, especially to G,
but it was really amazing!! i was never able to play guitar before. Now at least, I have a chance to play the ukulele before treating to learn guitar again.thanks for the video!
So happy to have found this very helpful tutorial, you're very talented!
OH MY GOD, that's so hard to do it for one attempt!! I really admire you and your play (sorry for my English, I'm only learning). So beautiful voice. Don't stop doing what you like. Thanks for all you do for us, your subscribers. I love you, honey💞
Арина Яблочное Семечко Хэлло, раша!
I really like the way you teach. Could you please do a video on how to play "Hey Ho" by the lumineers in the simplest way possible? I am just learning and I am having a really hard time getting it down.
Thanks!! 🤙
It's like I'm listening to a remix of 15 songs. 2020 anyone? This video has been showing up many times in my recommendation, well, I didn't regret watching it. I have a ukulele so after watching this video, I searched the lyrics and played it how you played. Your voice is beautiful!💖
This is freaking legendary! Love it so much and didn't realize so many of my faves used the same chord progression :o
The beat reminded me of over the rainbow
I like this tutorial, it’s basically The Axis of Awesome’s “four-chord song” on ukulele.
Gurl on Girl-Gaming OMG I was scrolling and hoping someone would make this same correlation! At least she added some more updated songs and not the exact same songlist. ^_^
I agree. And like I said, I like this tutorial and I learned some good stuff, but I think she should’ve at least mentioned Axis of Awesome as the originators of a lot of this arrangement.
Gurl on Girl-Gaming yeah the first five or so songs went exactly with axis’s four chord song. Then she threw a Bieber in there.
Just started learning two weeks ago.So glad I watched this clip.Struggling getting to g from various notes.
Hey Lindsey! I don't know if you see it but I wanna say that I had nothing a week ago but I can play all of the songs with you now. Thanks a lot. ❤️
Love your voice 💛💛💛
yeyy..my fav songs in one tutorial:))
I just loved this!!!!!!
You’re so amazing!!! I just started learning the ukulele and this video helped me a lot... thanks you deserve the world hahaha😍❤️
Omg u r so wonderful..i love that melody, the right one for cold winter, dreaming of my holiday in Cuba 🥰
Got it but when I tried singing I sounded like a chicken lmao
Lol me too 😂❤️

How the hell can u dislike this... its soo clear and easy for (what seems like it would be all) beginners. I't probably a lot easier 4 me bc I play guitar but I still cant imagine anything as good that is clear and easy to learn.
You’re amazing !!!!!
Thanks for this video !
I’m starting right now
Thaaaank youuu💗💗💗
Omg take on me by a-ha 🥰🇳🇴
Btw thank you for making this, i just got an ukulele 🙃
Wow, this is exactly the sort of tutorial I've been looking for. Thank you!
Best tutorial ever! You did everything become so easy. Thank you 💙
Anyone watching on 2020
No
Thank you, I've been the proud owner of an Ukelele for a half hour now, and already know 15 songs :)
This is so awesome!
this was really helpful I appreciate it keep up the good work!😌💁🏽♀️
anyone else struggle connecting c chord and g chord together?? like my fingers aren’t quick enough to change chords😂
Amberleigh Duncan takes a lot of practice I was struggling a lot. After a week or two I got the hang of it.
Yup, much better if you use your middle finger so that you will just slide it and connect the other fingers
I used to struggle too. Just don't give up. If you practise for some days you will be able to play
@@maryjanevillocero9327 Good. Or just jump it over to the 2nd string and use index finger to barre the second fret.
2 in the morning, I am afraid that if I play my uku now will get kill by my neighbors lol
I appreciate that this is one of the few videos where the instructor sings in key. Some tutorials are hard to listen to once the person starts singing. I can live with the beat/measure mix-up. I need to have some more caffeine so I can play along. Thank you Lindsey, I found it helpful.
Yesss you have talent. I love this and I'm deff gonna use this!
2:13 I literally thought it's gonna be Somewhere over the rainbow
Me too 😅
Same chords for the most part
This is wonderful- just know it’s not beats, it’s measures. 4 beats to a measure in this case. So you either change your chord every measure or every other measure.
Actually, if you're going to be a pedant, it is bars!
Yeah she put in the discription box
Genius performer and teacher!
Absolutely loved it. Thank youu❤❤
You are so cute, you remind me of my daughter... as she plays!! But she is only 13... x

Fantastic Lindsey, I'm just learning and that's a new strumming pattern I can have a go at with those great songs.
You're so good Lindsay!!!
