My mother was head of Security in the Nineties at the Civic Center in CT. I had bought her book “Be My Baby” and asked mom if she could get her to sign it at me. Ronnie performed at an Oldies show that evening & she was so happy I bought her book that not only did she sign it, but so did her husband Jonathan. She told mom that she was doing a radio show on WDRC the next day & asked me to call in to talk. I couldn’t because I had a 102 degree temp with laryngitis. But I’ll never forget the kindness & graciousness they showed my mom. Classy lady.

So many of these groups were so darn young when they became famous. Ronnie started the group when she was 15 or 16 and was huge a couple years later. Artists became famous literally overnight, with one appearance on American Bandstand or the right DJ playing your record. DJ's were powerful back then. ---- The downside was they didn't enjoy the profits. The studios, agents and record companies got all the bucks. And they worked their butts off on the road traveling in their own vehicles from town to town playing in high school gymnasiums for chump change. No luxurious tour buses for most of them. But great talent back then. Imagine watching these people perform 15 feet from you in a local movie theater or gym for a couple bucks.

I love, love, love the video of her singing this in the (Legendary Ladies of Rock & Roll) version with Belinda Carlisle (GoGos) & Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane). It shows her personality so much more than this one. She had one of the most distinct voices ever. She will be greatly missed...

Great that you honored her. This era was before my time but I have great affection for it. The Ronettes were ground breaking by bringing sex appeal to very early ‘60’s female songs, and singing about the desire of boys/men rather than being the desire of them. This particular song will live forever.

She was magical. I remember as a young kid that I loved the Ronnettes and I saw them perform live in 1966 when they opened for the Beatles. I remember how beautiful I thought she was. I hope she knew how much she was loved. RIP Ronnie. We love you.

She had a rough life, and like everyone else I had a crush on her! Later I found out about Phil Specter being crazy and how she was trying to escape his insanity. She is the soundtrack of little Italy in New York.

Ronnie was and IS a gift to the world! She is a survivor of domestic violence (From Phil Spector) and knowing how she survived is an inspiration to me and how I survived domestic violence thanks to her story! Rest In Song and Rest In POWER Ms. RONNIE!

When David Bowie died of cancer a few years ago, I remember seeing a posting on Facebook, of a list of famous Rock singers and members of famous Rock groups, that were all in their 70s, 80s, and 90s. Most of them are going to die in the next decade or so. Be understanding, and be prepared for this wave of passings coming soon.
For example, I saw a video posting here on RUclips, that was posted on Facebook, by the family of Jerry Lee Lewis. He was in very bad shape. Jerry Lee Lewis was wishing for everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and a Merry Christmas. I guess that there were fears that he would not live to see those holidays, but he made it through them this season.

Love love love her voice!!! She could melt the heart of the toughest street fighter, a grizzled truck driver, or a foul mouthed sailor. She did some great work as well with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street.

Ah yes, Ronnie Spector, married to the famous and infamous Phil Spector. Good lord she was a cutie, and even in her 40s when she worked with Eddie Money, still looked great. This song is a top 50 all time rock classic. The greatest.

The the real-life, horrible lows behind the ultimate pop song of the 20th century cannot dim its sheer, all conquering magnificence! Thank you The Ronettes, from the UK.

I loved these girls. Me & my sisters dressed up like the Ronnettes & sang this song for a school talent show. We didn't do them justice but we had so much fun. We loved the "hair", the voices, the era. RIP GIRL, thanks for the happy memories.
