    I made these videos to document my experience eating a diet termed the “Lion Diet” by Mikhaila Peterson, daughter of Jordan Peterson who introduced this diet to my thinking. Lion Diet a strict version of the Carnivore diet that only allows for ruminant meat, salt, and water. I am not a nutritionist nor doctor, but I hope you will find my story enjoyable and informational just the same.

    My mom sometimes would cook a leg of lamb for a special Sunday dinner! I have never cooked lamb and was so glad you both did this video!!! Loved seeing the papa lion and youngest cub tearing into that meat!!! Great family video!! I'm saving this in "recipes" until I find a leg of lamb!! Looks delicious!!! 😀❤️

    Dante, That cut of meat with a decent fat cap makes incredible steaks on the grill. Just fire and good salt. Sear the outside to med/rare on the inside.
    Also, if you didn't already know, the combo of Lamb & Eggs makes an amazing breakfast! Addicting actually! :)

    Just watched this in 2024, my local store had Leg of Lamb on sale so thought I'd try it and when I searched 'leg of lamb carnivore' for a how to it gave me your video. I've been a subscriber of yours for 6 months, enjoyed seeing your family here - odd seeing your head not shaved ... hope I can get a few of these at the store now when I go. Thanks for your video - missed your; 'if we pay extra, can we maybe get some grease or fat?'

    WOW that looked tasty! Usually have a rack with garlic, rosemary and Parmesan or slow cooked shoulder with salt, butter garlic and rosemary. About time for me to get a leg joint to try.

    I massage the butter on then Ruben massage the salt in . High heat to seal in the juices and brown the fat then a slow cook for super tender melt in the mouth lamb. Shoulder is fattier and doesn’t usually need added fat just salt rubbed in.

    You’ve got a net to keep the meat ‘together’ while it’s cooking as you’ve got a bone out leg joint - it keeps it from drying out too much. You don’t need the net if it’s bone in.

    Great to see Katie and the kids. Love the Bloopers. Women can always find a beauty tip in anything...even rubbing Leg of Lamb with salt and butter! Stop looking at her butt when she turns around! LOL You guys all look great together. I just cooked up a 8 lb Brisket for 16 hrs...Leg of lamb next. KATIE: What do you think about smoking Leg of Lamb on the Traeger? Do everything the same, just slow cook it on the smoker.

      I didn't look at her butt... OK, I may have looked at her butt. I think it's reflexive, lol. To your question for Katie, she says she's never tried smoking leg of lamb, but if she had a smoker she'd sure try it. I've reached out to a company that makes a wood pellet smoker, but I haven't heard back from them.

    Why "Redmonds Salt" as opposed to just any other salt?

    • @FerrignoFreedom
      @FerrignoFreedom  9 месяцев назад +1

      1. Trace minerals.
      2. Not refined.
      3. Ancient Sea bed, no pollution.
      4. Tastes better.
      5. No anti-caking agents.
      6. A good American company that I trust.

    • @workinprogress9613
      @workinprogress9613 9 месяцев назад

      @@FerrignoFreedom Thanks! I had purchased some Himalayan pink salt once that was supposed to have trace minerals as well. But that's just it, they're so "trace" that we would die from the amount of salt we would have to consume to benefit from the minerals it contains. So I wonder if the mention of minerals is just hype to sell the product, or whether we really would benefit from it. Since I'm on a super tight budget, I hesitate to spend more if I won't really benefit from it. Do you have any knowledge about whether this is the case with Redmond's salt as well? Is it really healthier?

    • @FerrignoFreedom
      @FerrignoFreedom  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@workinprogress9613 I have no doubt it’s healthier to get those trace minerals and eliminate pollutants and anti-caking agents, and I only notice the cost if I don’t buy bulk amounts.

    Hey man! Im just wondering and wanted to ask you, since you have researched this and surely know more than me about lion diet: does the butter not affect the lion diet? Is butter okey in lion diet? Please alleviate my concern, thanks!

    • @FerrignoFreedom
      @FerrignoFreedom  2 года назад

      I answered this in the other video you asked this question in… the technical answer is no, but if you can tolerate it without issue I say have at it. I recommend grass fed Irish butter, but I can’t tolerate it too well (causes stomach growling like noises and small pains).

    Around here I am famous for my Roast lamb. Because the lamb already has a lot of fat on it, I add nothing but salt on mine. I use a Pyrex covered oval container and put the salted lamb into it with the cover on. I roast at 250 degrees F for four hours with the lid on. It produces it's own delicious juices. I may brown the fat with the broiler for 10 minutes at the end. That's it... the main thing is roasting at a very low temperature for a long time... No cutting any of the fat... no spices, just the Redman's salt.

      I don't know which Pyrex to order on Amazon. I'm afraid that the lamb won't fit if I order too small a container.

    • @Dakiniwoman
      @Dakiniwoman 2 года назад +1

      @@allenbennett8735 I use an oval Pyrex with a lid. Of course if you are buying a leg of lamb with a bone in, it would take a large pan. You don't have to use glass... you can use any pan and put tin-foil over it if you don't have a lid. I almost always buy the boneless leg of lamb so it is a smaller size than the ones with bone-in. If I do buy the bone-in, the bones make great bone-broth for later. Also you can buy bone-in lamb shanks and they are small and I often buy those as well.

      Do you remove the netting before doing this?

    • @Dakiniwoman
      @Dakiniwoman 7 месяцев назад

      @@ShoeBoyReview The netting is there to hold the meat together while it is cooking, so it is meant to be kept on. Netting is usually only on boneless Lamb. After it is finished cooking, take kitchen scissors and cut it open and the it is quite easy to take off. It is really your choice if to keep it on or take it off before cooking.
