Practicals are 15% of your exam grade, this could be the difference between a grade 4 and a grade 5 or the difference between grade 7 and grade 9. There isn’t a large amount of content but there are a lot of skills that can be tested, to help you with this I’ve made videos of all the practical and written a workbook full or exam style questions.

Urgent question! Why is hydrogen attracted to the cathode instead of sodium? Is it something to do with their reactivity?

Why are there more Hydrogen gas bubbles released than chlorine ?
Is it because there's just a larger volume of water and so more hydrogen particles forming? Whilst there's less chlorine, i. e solution is quite dilute. Or is it something to do with Hydrogen's density or lower solubility in water?
Or even molar ratio, with H2O meaning molar ratio of 2:1 between hydrogen and chlorine in the solution , but we're taught that it dissociates into OH- and H+ meaning the molar ratio wouldnt occur?
What do you get if you change both electrodes to iron?
My question is how do you know that the hydrogen will form at the cathode? Is it always going to be the fact that as long as the metal is more reactive then hydrogen, hydrogen is produced at the cathode? Else, less reactive then hydrogen, the metal will form at the cathode?
