It's why fans are a bad thing. People stop thinking straight and tie their emotions to the artist. It makes them defensive because they take it personal when that artist gets criticized. They stop thinking rationally and defend them to their dying breath. Part of what I appreciate about Kendrick is that he actively discourages that mindset. His whole last album was about him not being everyone's savior and telling his fans to think for themselves instead of relying on him to give them the answers. The album was all about how flawed he is. Some of these guys try to pretend they're perfect, and enjoy being worshipped by their fans. If you can't be critical of even your favorite artists, you're not consuming the media properly.
