Hey you're not the only one... I fell in love with a US army soldier while I was spending a year in the USA. I live in Europe. I just hope he gets stationed somewhere near me, haven't seen or talked to him in 2 months and it's like hell....
Amanda Seyfried is such an underrated actress. Her and Emma Stone are probably the two most talented actresses of my/our generation. They bring a strong sense of beauty, naturalism and emotion to every single project they've ever been involved in.
I met a guy from the military and we spent three weeks together. It was very much like Dear John. I was at work making coffees and his taxi arrived to take him to the airport. I was nervous that I wouldn't have a chance to say goodbye. I ran out in the rain and we kissed and he gave me a handwritten letter. It was so dramatic and honestly felt like straight out of Nicholas Sparks. I will miss him.
I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much in my whole life. The saddest film I’ve ever watched. I’m pretty sure if all my tears were collected through out the whole movie they could fill a bucket. But honestly such a good film
This movie always gets me. It is cheesy and all but I know the anxiety you feel with unexpected deployments, sudden changes and endless months apart. You are "forced" to go on with your life while waiting for the other person to come back and then restart your life once more. I did end my relationship after 2 years not always physically together and after 2 deployments. Somehow we met again 6 years later in the UK during a pandemic and it felt like time had not passed at all. How this movie ends makes absolute sense to me.

Sorry about your girlfriend it must of been tough. Have you seen the movie "If I stay" watch it. It kinda relates to you 😌 after what happen with your girlfriend. 😌 Well kinda.
Having dated a female service member way before I joined the Army, I can tell you that being married to or in a relationship with any service member is rarely glamorous. At the bare minimum, your family & personal hobbies are going to take a back seat to your military career, especially if you have the level of dedication that they want you to. Being a military spouse is extremely lonely nights on end, followed be lonely days, weeks & months. And if you have kids, it involves having to play the roles of both parents, even when you know that sometimes you'll just never be able to fill all 4 shoes. It's having to convince your family that you're still married even if you've attended every holiday gathering alone for the last 3 years. It's understanding that even when your military spouse is home, doesn’t mean his mind is. His body may be tired and knowing he truly wants to see his family and spend time with them, but he desperately needs sleep. Most importantly, is being able to tell that when he steps off that plane when he comes home, that last deployment was just one of those deployments. He doesn't mean to be moody or distant, he just hasn't been able to compartmentalize all the memories & images of the deployment he just got home from. If you marry a servicemember just for the uniform, you'll never make it. There's a reason there are more military ex's than military spouses. But for those who are there to stay, they would not trade this life for anything in the world. They'll take the bad with the good every day, because they know that being a veteran isn't just their spouse's career, it's their calling.
Thinking if should watch Dear John again. A lovely movie. Maybe it won't wreck my emotions this time. Watches the trailer. 1 min in... *cries hysterically*
Ok this is my take away from the movie. SPOIL ALERT btw. I think the story between John and his father is so much more deep thank anything. Tim was acutally a good guy and Savanah did everything she could. And as Savanah said, time always runs out... Man I told myself I wasn't going to cry... Nope I sure did.
Hoops1330 yes! i mean, obviously it was a bit upsetting when all that stuff with savannah happened, but they did all they could. they fell in love at the wrong time. love is inconvenient. that's the point. and the dad and his story made me cry more than anything else in the book.
John was alone aswell, so what did that mean, that he should have forgotten savannah. No, I don’t think so. If you love someone enough you will wait. You will make it work no matter what. She didn’t love him enough I guess. It’s true, time always runs out, but in the end they got back together. So what was the point of all that mess. If I were him I would have left her. And at the end she would have been alone again, after Tim died.

Dear johnnnnn
I see it all now that you’re gone
Don’t you think I was too young to be messed with the girl in the dress
Read the book! It's more specific and then watch the movie. Great story. Thanks for the upload! Thumbs up.
I watched this movie in its entirety. The acting was not the best, but the framing and shots..Absolutely amazing. An example is the moment when Savannah and John write letters, or an act of love, a wonderful close-ups, shots of goosebumps... PERFECT. I love it. (sorry 4 my english, it's not perfect. ;d )
The best movie after Titanic ..tears dropping.."shiit i shudnt be cryng um a guy lol" ..great movie..
I can't believe she left John, a total hottie and loyal man for that one dude who looks twice her age smh
