    Great video and explanation.
    I was looking for a tire changer that would suite both my Triumph Bonneville with spoke wheels, tubes and my Harley Davidson with Cast iron.
    And it seems like this model could suit my needs :)

    With my mousse changer, I always put a bit of diluted fairy liquid around the beads to aid removal. Just lets things slip a bit better.
    Get the street tyre changer brought to the UK please. We need them.

    Looks like a good product, but at over $1000 Canadian for DIY it's way too expensive. Closer to $1300 with a few accessories. Pity I was excited when I first saw it but not for me at that cost even though I have 12 bikes.

    • @Rabaconda
      @Rabaconda  Год назад

      Yeah, the exchange rate of CAD, shipping and Canadian customs build it up. Wish there was a way around to keep the price lower…

      Looks a great tool, but way way too expensive here in the UK for diy & there are cheaper tools that get the job done although will definitely require more effort, this looks too make the job easy.

    I have a question about what accessories or adaptors I'd have to buy for the Tenere 700 and it's tires, same size as the Africa Twin, but not sure how the hub works. And would it work on a Honda CRF 250 L Rally rear tire (no rim lock)? Thanks

    Will the ADV tire changer kt work on the Africa Twin? I'm a little confused about the whole "cross spoke" thing.
    -"Please note! For modern BMW GS and other cross-spoked wheels use Rabaconda Street Bike Tire Changer"

    • @Rabaconda
      @Rabaconda  Год назад +1

      Hi Rod! Thanks for the question. So, the ADV tire changer kit will work on Africa Twin. With regular spokes the ADV tire changer won't be a problem. But honestly speaking, the Street version will do the work also and the process will be smoother.
      The "please note" sentence means that if your bike runs cross-spoked rims (a.k.a. laced rims), where spokes run out to the sides of the rim (like on modern BMW GS, Triumph Scrambler, Triumph Tiger, newer Honda Africa Twins, Ducati Multistrada, Moto Guzzi V85, etc.), where the side of the rim is thicker due to spoke placement and standard duck head will not fit - then we recommend the Duck Head Kit for Cross Spoked Wheels. The duck head is wider for rim protection.

    • @Rabaconda
      @Rabaconda  Год назад

      The Street bike tire changer can be used for dirt bikes, but to be honest, the rimlock creates more hassle than needed. 3-minute tire changer + tire irons makes the work faster and easier. Just to know what to expect, please have a look at the videos below. I'd also like to point out that the Street bike tire changer cannot be used with mousse inserts.

    The amount of pressure you are putting ontoone spoke you must be causing damage to it, why are you not using a lube to get the tyre off?

    • @Rabaconda
      @Rabaconda  Год назад

      Totally agree regarding lube!! It makes changing way easier and is a must. However, we have put considerably more pressure on spokes to test the limits of spoke nipple strength, but have never managed to damage. No worries there if common sense and care is used

    Half the battle is using the proper lube on mounting and demounting. You're making the job far more difficult that it needs to be. And that ratcheting mechanism makes it far more complex ( and far more expensive ) than necessary.

      @@Rabaconda I have been designing and making my own tire tools for years ( just for personal use ). The other thing that I see over and over is machines that are not firmly attached to anything or are just poorly built / assembled. This one looks to be very well built and presumably made to be used just sitting on the floor. My latest iteration is very compact and simply clamps down to my work bench. The message being : don't fight your tools. Watching people changing tires while their machines are moving all over just makes me cringe. Sure, we don't all have a bench handy so you have to do it on the floor sometimes. But, if possible, get that thing firmly attached to something; anything. It's like trying to eat a half-baked large pizza with one hand otherwise.
      And, as for lube, get the right stuff. I bought a gallon jug years ago. It's cheap and will be your best friend on first use. I have been told not to cheap out and use any sort of liquid soap as it stays slipper after drying and may allow your tire to spin on the rim. This may just be an urban myth but it's not worth the risk.
