    As been touched on in some comments below, not all quest monsters have unique standees. They are however described in the quest, which will give you an idea on what standee to use. I would have loved to include one for each, but at some point I had weigh the benefit of that to the cost and weight of the box. So I decided that for instance one of the named Orc bosses could just use an Orc Chieftain standee. The Basilisk is an unfortunate misprint. It should read Cockatrice (and it has a standee).

    Hello Daniel!
    I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your channel. For the last few years I've been very good at buying games, but not so great at actually getting them to the table. Since I started watching your channel a few months back, you've really inspired me to actually get my games on the table and it's been a blast.
    I'm also really looking forward to your ongoing LoD coverage. It was your review of the prototype that got me to get in a late pledge right before the kickstarter closed and I am very glad that I did!

    Awesome video!! Man those are gorgeous standees!! I’m reminded of the Henchmen rules from AHQ with the companions rules here. These are way more detailed but very similar. The Bestiary is fantastic too!! Plenty of creatures to encounter!! Excellent job showing these off!

    Basilisks were replaced with Cockatrices. (Which they were always intended to be, basilisk was a synonym for cockatrice before Dungeons and Dragons made them distinct creatures.) The card is a misprint.
    A large number of the named quest monsters do have unique standees for them. It's possible that you mixed them in with the factions when you were sorting the set out. I stand to be corrected on this, but I believe the remainder of the quest monsters detail which figure to use in the quests where they appear.
    Source: I'm one of the artists who worked on the standees.

      @@TheDungeonDive I really enjoy the level of detail / thoroughness in your coverage, and what you choose to focus your coverage on when reviewing a game. Your content is probably my favorite in the space. Though in this case, I also mean that i come more from the board gaming side of the hobby, so I also on a personal level love when I see you upload something about Dungeon crawlers and board games.
      Regardless of my personal preferences, I usually watch your videos regardless of what game you're discussing, because seeing what some of these brilliant designers come up with for their systems always interests me, and your coverage is top notch.

    These look absolutely great! Cannot wait to get my copy. Do all of the standee bags fit back in the box Daniel? BTW, not sure if this is at all related, but Rob Oren mentioned in one of his videos about LoD that in his copy there was a missing punch board or two - maybe that explains where the quest monster standes are if your copy is similar? As always Daniel, really enjoying your in-depth coverage of this Daniel. These Winter Sunday's are awesome! :)

      The tokens sheet he was missing were markers to track effects and stuff. The quest monsters weren't on a separate sheet. Not all the quest monsters got dedicated standees.A lot of them were meant to just use regular monster standees.

    Love to see the implementation of the companion system. Oathsworn did something very similar and I've loved it for playing solo - now that games have shown it is possible, I feel like all games in this genre should always include a mode like this. Definitely looking forward to the LoD reprint to pick it up.

    I think a dungeon crawler (DC)can have extensive variety of monsters only when they use standees/use any minis you want, compared to a game that comes with their own miniatures.
    WHQ is able to have a variety inside their roleplay book because of Citadel miniatures. So if one day a DC uses exclusive Reaper miniatures, they can have an expanded bestiary by asking players to buy from the Reaper catalogues.

    The art for the standees is absolutely beautiful, the artists deserve a lot of praise for their work, as well as Michael for choosing to go with standees in the first place. I appreciate just how much work has gone into LoD but I am dissappointed by the number of spelling mistakes and typos. I'm only 15 minutes into the video and have already seen too many. I know it won't detract from the gameplay, it's just a shame because proofreading would have picked these up and had them corrected.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  Год назад +1

      There are a lot of typos and errors unfortunately. There will be an up to date errata.

    • @ConraDargo
      @ConraDargo Год назад +1

      Funny thing is that it _has_ been read _and_ re-read, and yet these mistakes are still in there! I saw Michael last week and he was as frustrated and sad about it, having spent so much time on trying to make everything perfect :/ At least there aren't as many errors that will affect gameplay one way or another, like the one missing Legendary item that somehow disappeared from the list of items.
      He's definitely going to fix everything for the second print run, _but_ he's also now making sure to keep the PDF version up to date with any corrections that he makes for the reprint! So anyone using the PDF instead of the physical book will always be looking at an up-to-date version.

    • @leagueofdungeoneers2523
      @leagueofdungeoneers2523 Год назад +6

      I've had 2 professionals go through everything, so the fact that there still are typos and grammatical errors is frustrating. Still, it's WAY better than previous versions and with the amount of text in this game, there would inevitably be errors. That happens to bigger publishers as well. But, as Daniel said here, an errata will be available at the time the game reaches backers and I'll keep on updating it, should more errors occur.

    • @TheDungeonDive
      @TheDungeonDive  Год назад +2

      Conra, there are unfortunately a lot of rules errors that do impact game play. But these are being corrected in the errata. No way to sugar coat that.

      @ConraDargo Год назад +2

      @@TheDungeonDive It is truly unfortunate! But that’s what erratas (and reprints!) are for :) Glad that we have someone as dedicated and responsive as Michael behind this project.

    I will be using LoD standee’s also with DUN. DUN standee’s are a mess to organize, I still can’t figure out if there is a system. Takes forever to find the standee. While LoD seems so simple to organize, having the name of the creature printed with front and back is so important.

      For me it depends on the amount of bookkeeping involved. LoD is, for me, a little too much for solo. This is a game I prefer to play with a full group of players. But I know a lot of people will like it solo.
