Perfect! Just ordered the bundle a few days ago. I will also introduce a homemade bestiary and probably roll on my table once I draw any monster card. Maybe also keep the solo exploration rules found on BGG ? And draw the required number of cards when entering a room? Can't wait.
Heroquest is one of those rare boardgames that has longevity due to all the new products and expansions that come out for it time and time again. These cards definitely give it a new way to play. The downside is that the dungeon board gets repetitive and the beastiary needs alot more variety. My remedy to this is that I use loke battle maps to change the scenery and use miniatures from pathfinder and dnd

As i understand when i read the infinite dungeon rules, it writes "When playing without a Zorgan player, if there are no monsters on the board, instead of rolling your movement dice, simply assume each die has rolled a 4" i read that as you roll 2 4's meaning an MA at 8 not 4.

Alright I am sold and will be buying the bundle as I mostly play solo and don’t care for the app. I do look forward to the Artifact deck and the relic creature that spawns when the adventures have too many artifacts.
It’s tempting but with postage to the UK the full bundle with discount is £90. That’s before any import fees and obviously will be even more expensive after 30th October. I remember the days when the USD to GBP exchange rate meant you could pretty much half the USD price to get the GBP price. I don’t think I can justify £90+ for this, as cool as it looks.
I was also looking to buy but it's now £102 excluding import charges, which, considering the core game is only £60 on amazon just isn't justifiable for some cards. it's a shame the creator has no plans for a pdf print at home version at half the cost 😕

I like how fast things move. I wonder if this could be used with another game. I don’t think it would take too much changing of anything to use Descent 2nd edition with this system. You definitely would get more enemy variety as well. I’m thinking if I get this and combine descent 2nd rules, characters, enemies with the HQ board and this card system. Also I think this all would combine really well with the HeroQuest Roleplay book. Truly would be a Warhammer quest lite.
Ooooooooooooh... okay, as someone who loves Shadows of Brimstone and Warhammer Quest, this looks like a lot of fun. Not as heavy as those games can be (though I've found my own solution for that when I just want to play for a little bit) but it's still got a good amount of crunch to it. If I can find a copy of Hero Quest and the expansions for a fair price, you can be certain I'll be buying these, too. Y'know, assuming I have a few hundred dollars sitting around gathering dust.
I recently heard that one of the official expansions had something they called "unthreatened movement." Essentially, if there were no monsters on the board, a hero is allowed to move 4 squares per movement die they would normally have. So in regular play, assuming nobody has been penalized to move less than their standard movement, then this system would give a hero 8 squares of movement. Once monsters start showing up on the board, then it's back to rolling the movement dice. Also, today I learned that "famelic" means hungry.
I ordered this a couple of days ago. Even with the big Halloween catch up discount, shipping from 🇺🇸 to 🇬🇧 means it is almost as expensive as backing league of dungeoneers. So obviously I went for these cards instead. I hope I have made the right choice. My rationale is that with the solo adventurers toolbox and scarlet heroes (and a bunch of other bits and bobs)- I think I can already fulfill that whole sandbox adventurers experience. Time will tell, time will tell.
Bit off topic but I've been enjoying your solo RPG videos and was wondering if there's a good tool or system to support solo Gamma World (3e) or MCC play? Most of the sandbox and table books seem to be fantasy-themed?
Fantasy seems to enjoy the lion's share of supplements, but I think a general oracle could work for GW and MCC. As far as tools like random charts to supplement play, I'm not sure. I think GW and MCC are weird enough that with a little imagination you could make fantasy tools work. Just say skeletons are skeletal mutants, or change swords to VibraSwords or stuff like that.

I did actually find something this morning, the "Solo Game Masters Guide" that calls out Mutant Crawl Classics specifically by "Modiphius Entertainment". I'll give that a try but from the reviews sounds like I still may need some supplemental tables - maybe I can just cook some alternate tables up myself in advance of play with some inspiration from the ones you shared in your videos.
I can see that, but since the cards don't stay on the board, I'd prefer larger cards just to make it easier to read. Sometimes small cards are fine, but there's a lot of text on these.

No. It's specifically made for a pre-made map, and works great. So even if you had modular tiles, you'd still need to build the map before hand to populate the rooms. It's designed to work specifically with the HeroQuest board and I guess other pre-made maps. You could use it with some Loke Battlemat books for instance. I'm sure someone will come up with something, but for me that would kind of defeat the point.
I am wording the cards so that I can play this and I have a few questions. Would this system work with the heroquest XP on BGG where the hero's gain new abilities? Is there any monster cards out there that give them abilities that you like to use and would it work with these cards?

I really think I'm going to order this bundle of cards. I really would love to get my hands on your tier list and monster abilities. Great coverage of the system. The only thing I didn't see here that I am really curious about is the ai for the monsters. How do they act once they are on the board?
I use the same AI as in Gloomhaven, using Movement as Initiative. So monsters with highest Movement act first, and they attack the closest hero. If two heroes are at the same distance, they attack the one with the highest Movement. One rule I changed is that there is no Zargon turn, heroes and monsters act in order of Movement and all heroes roll Movement at the beginning of the round.
It's still a WIP but in good shape. Will take many, many games to fine tune the numbers, but I'll probably leave that up to other players to do on their own.
I love the look of this system, however, the only reason i wont get it (personally but i think others may feel the same) is the cost, with shipping, taxes and import charges to the UK it is going to cost me over $135 for the BUNDLE set (infinite dungeon plus all the large card decks) which i think is just to much for a bunch of cards considerig the core game only cost me half that in gbp. Do these, including infinite dungeon, work with the expansions as well? Also, can you play the actual quests in core box and expansions solo with using these cards? I suppose not because you have to then use the maps in the quests.
These are not for playing the pre-written quests. They can be easily adapted to using the monsters from the expansions, just by making substitutions as you see fit.
I guess really only way to do that is the app huh? Im like you, I love apps with games (imperial assault and descent 2nd edition to it perfectly). However, the app with this game I barely feel like Im playing the board game at all. @@TheDungeonDive
I'd add a random element to your substitute enemies list: Tier 1: Roll d6 on 6 (or 5-6) Dread Cultist, otherwise face the enemy listed on card. Tier 2: Roll d6 1-2 Orc, 3-4 The Scout, 5-6 Specter, Etc. For any enemy rolled that you do not have, use enemy list on card. You have a great idea here. And you convinced me to buy AxianQuest and AxianQuest Infinite Dungeons,

The AQ decks were designed to be compatible with the current edition, so if you own the original North America game, you're good. The only bit that I can warn you about is that the cards of the original game had their own format, so the AQ cards will immediately look different. But then again, you are never required to mix or shuffle them together, so it's just an esthetic issue. On the other hand, if you own the original EU version (where all monsters have 1 BP), things might get a bit wonky here and there. Probably not much, but still.... I had the original EU version back then, but I've been using only the new edition since it came out, and don't remember much about other differences.
with putting the cards out ahead of time, wouldn't that destroy the fact that you know the layout of the dungeon? I guess playing by yourself, their is now way to not spoil it.
Not really, because you never know what's on the cards, so the exploration is still totally intact. The dungeon layout in these games doesn't create the sense of exploration, what you find in the dungeon does.
Hello there, Giuseppe/Axian here. By putting the cards on the board, you know which rooms have something in them, but you still don't know how they are connected, because you place doors while playing. In my experience (and playtest), even when playing alone, I'm always surprised of how the final dungeon turned out because of how I placed the doors while playing. In multiplayer gmless games, the effect is even stronger because it's the player who opens a door that has to place the next door. The design of the deck and its rules were based on the assumption that exploration becomes more meaningful when you actually possess *some* information about what's ahead, so as to (at least some times) take informed decisions about where to go next. With zero information, opening the door to the left or to the right is a meaningless choice. This is also the reason why the Clue cards allow you to reveal one or two cards from unexplored rooms.
I just mix stuff together and play. The cards don't officially support the expansions yet, but swapping like for like and making adjustments on the fly works perfectly for this kind of open ended sandbox style dungeon crawl. I don't really care about "sticking to the rules" in these kinds of games, so I'm constantly messing with things. If you're looking for strict rules and balance, and things that cover all the bases, they may not work for you.
I'm not a fan of one vs many but Heroquest, to me, isn't one vs many game. It's a GMed mode where the Zargon player isn't against the other players, trying to defeat them, but moderating a fun dungeon crawler. The GM mode is my absolutely favorite way to dungeon crawl but very few DCers play that way. As a co-op mode though, this does seem pretty good and I do prefer co-op to one vs many games like Descent.
I just made a substitution list so I can play with all of the official monsters, and a bunch of custom monsters. Works really well, with no additional cards needed. He is going to expand on it to include stuff for the official expansions. It's pretty new, so I wouldn't expect him to have everything ready yet.
I hope a PDF print at home option becomes available. Otherwise it’s just unaffordable for us in AU/NZ 😢

It has endless home brew potential. You can make cards for any mini you have and there are hundreds of fan quests to play.

You just play the monsters to the best of their abilities. My monster WIP is available to Dungeon Dive patrons.

I would just play advanced enhanced reforged HQ. Its cheaper and and it has way more variation.

Did you figure out how to use AxianQuest with the expansions? I just bought four expansions and the 7-deck AxianQuest bundle.
I would just sub in new monsters for old. I created a power tier list to sub monsters in for one another.

It's a GMed mode where the Zargon player isn't against the other players, trying to defeat them, but moderating a fun dungeon crawler. The GM mode is my absolutely favorite way to dungeon crawl but very few DCers play that way.
As a co-op mode though, this does seem pretty good and I do prefer co-op to one vs many games like Descent.

i see no way to chat the creater of this to ask if this is usable with the 2023 Mystic Level Hero Quest game? Is it?

This really needs the other monsters to flash it out.
I just made a substitution list so I can play with all of the official monsters, and a bunch of custom monsters. Works really well, with no additional cards needed. He is going to expand on it to include stuff for the official expansions. It's pretty new, so I wouldn't expect him to have everything ready yet.
