      Hello Harold, 100% that's exactly what this kayak has been designed for. Moving the seat all the way back brings the open concept to life allowing for a small child or a dog to ride along. If you have a dealer in your area try and set up a demo, it really eases the decision making once you feel exactly how the kayak handles on water.

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks

      The Coosa will be the least stable of the three at 32" wide. A closer comparison would be the Coosa HD. From my experiences using all three, the Bite feels the most stable when standing. The Yupik has the biggest open deck and highest seat of the three.

    Thanks very much for the video. How did you determine where to place your seat?

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks
      @tgcanoesandkayaks  3 года назад

      It comes down to the water type I am running on that trip. For flat water I move the seat forward to drop the nose of the kayak down for better tracking. On moving rivers I move the seat backwards to pop the front end of the kayak up to gain more maneuverability. Also moving the seat around will help distribute extra weight should you be taking a child/dog/camping gear.

    I saw a video where someone stood on the deck of a Bite and encountered flex. Does the Yupik have this same flexing forward of the seat? The demonstration was done on land if that makes any difference. Thank you in advance.

    • @TGCanoe
      @TGCanoe 2 года назад +2

      Because all decks are flat, they all flex around the scupper holes when standing on them on land. In fact, you should never stand on the kayak deck on land. You shouldn't sit on a kayak on land, either. Take the chair off the kayak and set it on the ground to have lunch. The scuppers are strong and rigid, post-like, and the flat deck panel will flex around that scupper ring. On land, standing on any deck can form a crack at that ring - think aluminum can being bent back and forth. Why is that not a problem on water? It is because the water acts as a cushion relieving stress around the scuppers on the deck. We have sold a few hundred Bites and YuPiks and have not had any deck breaks. We're pretty large fellas, 260 and 285 # respectively. We have not had any issues with our Bite or YuPik decks, either. I hope this answers your question. Enjoy the day.

      Hey Justin, of the 4 models you mentioned i would eliminate the Coosa HD. I own one personally and it is my go to river kayak. The Frontier/YuPIk/Kilroy all perform well on flat water. The Kilroy is a sit-inside (no scupper holes). Best advice i can give ya is set up a demo with your closest dealer.

    How does the Yupik compare to the liska?

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks
      @tgcanoesandkayaks  4 года назад +2

      Hey Bryan, the Liska has more initial stability due to its flatter hull design imo. The Yupik has Jacksons highest seat yet and an all open deck, if you wanted to take a small child or dog. Both are good all around fishing kayaks.

    How does the Yupik compare to the bonafide ss127 for river fishing?

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks
      @tgcanoesandkayaks  4 года назад +1

      Lots of moving water I would go for the Yupik between the two, if it's a lot of calm rivers I like the ss127. The hull designs being so different, makes the kayaks handle differently.

    I need a kayak for fishing the Brazos and for a Devils river fishing trip. Any suggestions? I’m looking at the Coosa HD, the Bonafide and the sea ghost 130. Any other suggestions? Needs to be a good tracker but standing is a must.

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks
      @tgcanoesandkayaks  4 года назад

      The Coosa HD is my #1 recommendation for the Devils. The Brazos has so much open space i agree you want speed and tracking. SS127, Sea Ghost 130, Sportsman 120, Big Water 132, Manta Ray Angler 12 XT, Radar 135 are all fine choices. Some are faster than others and some are more stable than others. None have the maneuverability of the Coosa HD. Think about where you will use the kayak 80% of the time and buy the correct hull design for that application. Your height/weight + total amount of gear you plan to take, will also drastically change which platform can handle your needs without sacrificing performance.

    If you had the choice between this and the Manta Ray 12xt which would you pick?

    • @tgcanoesandkayaks
      @tgcanoesandkayaks  4 года назад +2

      What I would choose ultimately isn't the answer. The goal is what is best for you and your applications. Both kayaks are very good in their own way. Bigger question would be what type of water are you paddling on? Your Height and weight? Have a dog or small child you would like to take along sometimes? Are you going to hunt out of the kayak? Mode of transportation? Budget? The Yupik has more load capacity, an all open concept, clean deck to throw line if fly fishing, can take a small child or dog, can duck hunt out of easily. Lake, bays, up to class 2 rapids on rivers. $1299 AT 89 lbs. The Native Manta Ray Angler 12 XT imo one of the best kayaks for the money at $849 and much lighter at 68 lbs (another would be the Jackson Bite at $899). The Native offers more tracking and speed (can handle rivers,lakes,bays) and is much lighter for loading and unloading by 21 lbs. I hope this makes some sense between the two kayaks, both are very good but offer different ideas. If you have more question call me anytime 512-353-3946 -Alex

      Hi, it does not have other paddle holders installed. Add a YakAttack RotoGrip mount onto the rail system, or something similar for more paddle holders. The rear is designed for the PowerPole Micro Anchor system. It is not motor ready.

      A Torqeedo Ultralight 403 can be easily mounted to the stern using the 4 molded in insert pattern. However the steering may take a little engineering.

      @JiminSC 2 года назад

      @@tgcanoesandkayaks Yep but if you mount the RotoGrips on the rail that pretty much uses that whole rail for your paddle. Mount a power pole on the back and that negates the rear handle. No built in rod holders means you have to buy more accessories and use up more rail real estate. Very customizable but I'm not sure about the design. I think you would want to lay out everything first and make sure it all works and add up the costs. Plus I just looked at a 2022 with one with an old price tag and a new price tag on the same boat. Went up from $1299 to $1669. Thats a big jump!

      @duanetegrotenhuis8141 5 лет назад +1

      Jonathon, we would use a 240 cm or maybe a 250 cm, if you're liking a long paddle. The key is the blade has to be buried in the water without leaning left or right to make that happen. Since the YuPIK can be paddled on rivers, we choose high angle blades such as the Werner Shuna and Corryvreckan, Aquabound Manta Rays, Bending Branches Angler Ace, etc.

      I can see it's not a kayak for everyone. It can be plain for some. Once you know the purpose behind the design it has a spot in the kayak market. The all open concept offers space for a child to ride along, take your dog, and a clean deck to fly fish from, or hunt off of.
