This double hook swirl was the answer for my 8 point star Christmas table topper. It is 22" across. I made it by sewing together 8 large diamonds, sewed that on to backing and batting, turned it (no binding), did a straight stitch around the edge after pressing out corners and ironing. It is beautiful. Thank you Angela.
I LOVE seeing how your fabric ripples as you do your FMQing .... that has helped me relax more when I FMQ as I use to be paranoia about that as I was afraid that would lead to pleats and tucks ...... it just flattens out as you stitch... I am now less stressed.
Omg! I’m so excited, I’m going to bust! I haven’t started the challenge yet because I just got my panel today! Since I can’t start until I get it sandwiched together, I decided I should try to MFQ a baby blanket that I needed to get done. Thanks to you Angela, I decided I would try to do an all over swirl design. I have only had three, 5-10 min practice sessions, this week. For the first time. But figured the best way to practice, was on an actual quilt. So I did. I can’t believe it! I’m actually quilting swirls that look like swirls! No. They are not “perfect”, but they are decent enough for a newborn. I am not ashamed to let her parents see them either. I’m beside myself with glee! Lol. Thank you so much for all your help and encouragement. I definitely could not have done this without you. I will post a picture on the Facebook group when it’s finished. I still cannot believe I’m quilting swirls! 😁 I’ll be starting this challenge as soon as I can get the panel sandwiched together. Btw, I cannot believe how fast that package got to Vermont! That’s some fast service!
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I getting up a little early each day to make sure I can watch all the videos in this challenge, then I plan to go back to the home page and start watching the other challenges! Yeah!! You are wonderful to share and teach and motivate! I love FMQ and I feel that you will be of great help on my FMQ journey!
I love coming to RUclips on Monday morning with my cup of coffee and enjoying your pretty FMQ! Love the spiral block! That is the design I want to conquer next! My sweet girl who is 6 now loves watching with me!
Nothing makes a Monday morning better than a video from Angela Walters!!! Great way to start the week!! Love these designs and cant wait to be able to get my fmq on! 😁
Just a day late watching this week's video. This is a busy week ! I really enjoy seeing what designs you choose for different blocks. So much inspiration for us !
Thank you so so so much for showing how to do the cool square design with a ruler! I’ve only seen in done where you spin the block under the needle as you quilt. Can’t do that with a queen sized quilt!! So I just always assumed that I wouldn’t be able to do it and that made me sad :( but this video has made me very happy!!! Thanks again 😁
Hi Angela, thank you for this amazing video. How can I purchase a downloadable diagram of your free-motion quilting of LeMoyne Stars and Diamond Shape Blocks. I could not find it on your website. My LeMoyne Star quilt is ready for quilting and I love your Star designs. Thank you
I always say I'm going to do it but always end up doing the same old thing. Free motion meandering is the only one I feel comfortable doing. Especially after all that hard work putting the top together I'm fearful I will mess it up. So I have decided to take a plain piece of fabric whole width by about 2 yards long. Draw squares, triangle, diamond... Then rise to meet the challenge . mess won't matter there. Are there templates for shapes available to use the pounce pad with? For practice I mean. Thank you for your wonderful instructions.
It's such a good way to learn - I had to start out on something I didn't care about either, I always got so tense about stitching on a "real" quilt until i put in some practice on something else haha. Good luck! (And if you can meander, you're half way there anyway!)
Dear Angela! Thanks for this wonderful, helpfull, georgeous, awesome series. 🥰 Question: Is there a tutorial for quilting Log cabin blocks? Something like a round shape, swirls, kind of soften the straight lines of a log cabin? Thanks again and warm greetings from Hamburg/Germany Julia 🌺
Oh my gosh I love this tutorial! I’ve already been practicing the swirl hook. I do wonder if you start quilting on the stars, or if you do any stitching to help hold the quilt in place first.
Love the gloves you use on this. Where did you get them? I am starting to quilt. I have my first quilt pieced and am going to try free motion quilting. I've watched many of your videos over and over. Love your work. Looking to learn a lot from you.
I LOVE this series. I will never be a fraction as good as you are but I am learning. I would love to know where you purchased those quilting gloves, I really like that style! Thank you for everything!!!
My dear Angela, help! How do I quilt a LOG CABIN RHOMBUS block? The quilt is for my 18 year old son, student at computer science, I really can not use flowers, and feathers, and swirls too much. Any advice for a more "boyish" but not too geometrical design? I use the pattern from the video of Jordan fabric and I would love to use a nice designs in each rhombus/diamond instead of a all-over design. LOVE, love, love your video's but couldn't find any on log cabins block. Raluca from The Netherlands
I know it's been ages since you were your comment but in case someone else is looking for an answer to this, I would try some of Angela's dot to dot designs.

Where can I buy the ruler & different types of rulers for 4”, 5” etc
What kind of machine can you use
I still haven't made my panel into a sandwich and started!.
Were we suposed to leave it whole or cut it into blocks?
Definitely leave it whole. 😉
I can’t find the print outs for the star blocks. Help

It took me a could of minutes to realize your were using a "cheater" block. LOL
