The MOST BEAUTIFUL unknown Swiss VILLAGE: GRIMENTZ - Val D'Anniviers / SAINT-LUC Switzerland

- One of the most underrated places in Switzerland: Val d’Anniviers with its beautiful villages GRIMENTZ and SAINT-LUC! This is the place to go if you want to see pristine alpine villages with NO tourists. Yet, this place remains rather secret; the best reason why you should explore it as soon as possible. The fact that this place is not much visited yet may also be related to its location that is far away from any major city or airport. From Zurich itself it is about a 5-6 hours drive and from Geneva roughly 4-5 hours. Thus, a visit to GRIMENTZ and SAINT-LUC should only be planned if you stay for a couple of days in Switzerland.
The best season to visit Grimentz and Saint-Luc would be during May to early September. It is recommended to explore Grimentz during the morning due to its exposition to the sun. Saint-Luc, which is quite higher up and on the other side of the valley is best to visit during the afternoon. A great hotel to stay at is “Le Grand Chalet Favre”, where you can experience a very authentic alpine Swiss atmosphere. The food served at its restaurant is very delicious. I highly recommend to dine on the balcony to watch the sunset, as you may enjoy a fantastic view from there. Also good to know is the Chalet Favre provides you free admission to the train heading up to the lookout point. It is good to stay up there for about 1 hour, the view is very beautiful, but the place also quite quickly explored.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience to visit the Val d’Anniviers with its picturesque villages of Grimentz and Saint-Luc. A place, I definitely want to revisit, possibly in winter for the next time!

Yup, I agree. It's perfect!

Super :) J'aimerais bien de retourner ici en hiver, en fait c'étais mon plan en 2020, mais maintenant avec cette situation... Étais-tu une fois allé au Lötschental? C'est similaire mais avec une culture très originaire :)

Thank you for the heads up but I want to see for myself. I have always been fascinated by the beautiful and scenic small villages and would love to see hoq tourism
Sorry, inadvertently hit the wrong button.
I’d love to see how tourism has taken its toll on the natural beauty of small villages like Grimentz. I still would want to visit :D
@@davidharris3264 Tourism trap? I barely saw any tourists and those who were visiting were Swiss. My visit was in July 2019, i.e. peak season, where Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken have loads of visitors. Some people actually even complained that Grimentz is "too empty"

Hi Djem this is Beals cris. This video of Grimantz is absolutely stunning. I'm dying to fly and set foot on those villages and in sait luc too. The mistake came out to be a very gorgeous place to be. Gush absolutely phenomenal. Will definitely go there one day sooner.
Hi Belas Cris. Thank you so much for your feedback. I hope one day you can go there; and Saint-Luc is very beautiful. Staying 1 night at the Chalet Favre is very worth it. The food there is just too good! You can go there even during Peak Season, it's still serene, sunset is late and its warm :D - a similar village, I have presented in one of my newer videos about BLATTEN LÖTSCHENTAL. Hi Amir. Thank you so much for your feedback!

Happy :) ^^
Thank you for this excellent video. It reminds me fondly of my weeks spent in a small village in Wallis. Nature is so rich there in many ways. I made friends with some of the Village residents and was so impressed how they cared for their village and made it beautiful. Hard work and care seems to be a thing there. Nature is so rich in many ways. I would come back again and travel in your country, so easy sans car as well. It is so different to my home in Australia.
Hi. Thank you so much for your comment and nice feedback. I hope you can come back to Switzerland again. Grimentz, Evolène, Blatten are some other beautiful villages in the Canton of Wallis to check out :) Much love from Switzerland to Australia.

We actually have booked a week in the Val d'Anniviers after seeing your video a few months ago. I am just watching it again today to research a little more. We are going in July. We are staying in Vissoie because of the price and room fit our needs. Such great videos! Keep it up!

Incredible! On my list!
Very good video. I love this village! It's really picturesque, serene, simply with the beautiful view of Alpine. The wooden houses always amaze me. Once I stayed in switzerland chalet & I got the fairy tale feeling:)
As I traveled alone, I always took train/bus. Sadly I didn't have any experience by renting/driving a car to explore more deeper in Switzerland...
Thank you Dina. Yup, the village is really quite a challenge to reach by public transport. But as it is Switzerland there is public transportation even to the last lost corner :)
I always new that Swiss villages are breath taking, I visited in 1983 Megève in France and walked to a village in Switzerland. Also I went to Geneva, I was great days.
Hi Cyrille. That's great to read. I hope that was a great hike you had. Sadly, believe it or not, I have never visited Geneva except for Sports competition :D
Great suggestion! I prefer the smaller villages and towns when I travel. As soon as the world opens up again I have Switzerland on my list. Thanks for showing some of the lesser known areas. Subscribed.

I’m doing research for a possible visit to Switzerland in 2022 and your videos are helping quite a lot. I just marked the Le Grand Chalet Favre on my Google Map because you really sold the positives of Saint Luc. Thank you! I’d definitely consider stops in both Saint Luc and Grimentz.
Yes I really would like to come
Hi Dennis. That's great to read! I am sure you will like Grimentz!
Swiss fairy tale villages 😍 I have never been there, but after seeing your amazing video, they are definitely on my list. 😀
Hi. Grimentz is very alluring. You really should go there! If you want, when you come to Switzerland we can do one video together, like collab ;) Those two guys from my videos Stäuber and Corippo are Slovenians btw :)
DjemoGraphic DjemoGraphic I actually live in Luzern. 😀 Really? I wasn’t aware. How cool! Collaboration would be very interesting idea. Let’s stay in touch. 😀 I’m already subscribed to your channel & Instagram.
You do an excellent job of uncovering small and beautiful villages that we may not have heard of before like Grimenyz and SaintvLuc. What would be helpful is knowing hoe far in km from places we are likely yo know - such as 100km south east of Geneva, or about 30 min north of Lugano, etc. Grimentz had some intriguing alleys but Sainy Luc, and the beautiful hotel, Le Chalet Favre and the balcony restaurant where you % your friend had breakfas, was glorious! I did enjoy the alpine architecture, which always reminds me of the German sector of Switzerland. T, too, enjoy the places with fewer tourists.
it would help a lot if you gave some idea of the costs. For example how much can a room cost during different seasons. Are you expected to pay through the nose at the restaurants .a quick camera shot of the menu would be helpful
Hi Edmung. These are great suggestions! Thank you :)
Thank you for sharing this greatfull video about Grimentz..

Awesome place. Continue this good work. I would suggest do share the approximate cost also.
Hi Uvri. Thanks a lot for your nice feedback! Good suggestion. For Grimentz usually the cost are as they are typical for Switzerland: Hotels cost at least 100.- CHF, parking lots 1.- CHF per hour. Lunch 15 - 30 CHF.
Switzerland the place to be! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
That's nice to read😍 Thank you!

Wow this is beautiful. Would you recommend a visit in October? Will much be open and good weather.
Great video and perspective. I agree 100% but I’m hoping no one is watching some it will remain pristine and not over run by tourists.
Hi Steve. Thanks a lot. Don't worry: Most people will not go to Grimentz. The majority of my followers who come to Switzerland watch my videos but end up going to the biggest hotspots. However, I am very happy that a sizeable fraction of my followers has been taking these tips into account :)
I am from Siders so I loooove St Luc , my favorite because I spent summers there, Grimentz is very beautiful too but St Luc….😛
most beatiful
Right?
Ha Ha no more unknown village! Thank you!
Visited today and it was breathtaking. The only scary thing was getting there. As on your video the road leading to there is one of the scariest I've ever been on. Place itself absolutely beautiful. From your video I can see that visiting during summer months will be even better. But unfortunately not for me. No way I will travel on that road again
. It actually made me scared of heights
Hi. I can absolutely understand your fear about the road to get there. Even we Swiss consider it as dangerous. I found it was scary, but it was fine. I guess it's a good idea to travel in a small car. Grimentz must be very beautiful with Snow. I hope you had a great trip and snow. Was there any snow?
@@DjemoGraphic yes plenty of snow . I loved the old houses and the general feel and atmosphere. Absolutely beautiful. Never been to Switzerland in hot months I always go in winter for the snow. I will definitely try in the summer. Your video is beautiful. Thank you for your reply- my Swiss friend told me she took her son for his 1st ever car ride after he passed his driving test to Grimentz. I nearly collapsed 😬
@@malbel8637 The road is only dangerous by look and if you drive fast. If you drive slowly it is pretty safe I think. But I think this is probably a bit too couragous to start a road trip to Grimentz right after passing the driving exam hehe :D
Mal Bel did you ski or just visit the village? I’m planning a relaxing trip next year to grimentz to ski and enjoy! :)
@@Toschh just visited quickly with small children. It was busy, we only went around the village.
Beautiful. How long before it's in a James Bond movie.
Hehe. The road up to Grimentz could be an interesting location to record a "car chase"
Waaa thanks nice video me that's my dream to visit Switzerland let me pray to God one day I will came there or God can give me Switzerland man to marry him inshallah
Looks amazing. Is it easy to get around Switzerland to see places.
Hi. Thank you so much. Regarding getting around: It depends! Especially on the season. During summer, the pass roads are open, which offer a short cut with spectacular landscapes. During winter, these are closed but there are car train tunnels that will save you a lot of time. In general, renting a car is easy, 80 CHF per day; for a group of 3-4 the price is quite okay I think. Else, there are many trains and buses that take you everywhere in Switzerland. Sometimes it can take longer, but it's more relaxing. Beautiful trainlines are the Glacier Express or the Bernina Express :)
@@DjemoGraphic Appreciate that thanks alot. Public transport is what I would use. Where is the best area to start of with. What type of cuisine is available.
@@Sultan11-MF I assume that you would fly in, so Zürich Flughafen (Zurich Airport) would be your starting point. There you can buy a tourist pass for public transport. The cuisine depends on the Kanton that you are in. In general in Swiss german cuisine you have a lot of different types of salads, then of course Rahmschnitzel, Rösti; French speaking part is the home of the Fondue and Raclette. Also hot stone is nice (Pierrade). Then the italian speaking part is known for Polenta (mashed corn). And Graubünden's famous dish is called Capuns :) Very typical Swiss are the cold plates with assorted cheese and meats.
@@DjemoGraphic Thanks for that and hopefully I will go one day. It looks so beautiful.. Where are you from.
Thank you:)) I can go it soon
I hope so too. Much love from Switzerland to South Korea, one day, I will go there :)
Would you recommend Grimentz over Evolene if the idea idea is experience a traditional swiss small village? Unfortunately i don’t have the time to visit both, but they look pretty similar.
Hi. I recommend to visit Grimentz. Evolènes church is under rennovation. So are other buildings, not going to be as pretty in Evolène this year as it is usually

how much would Europe 20 days budget
including Switzerland 7 days trip
Hi. Thank you! Europe is quite diverse in terms of prices and then there are the touristy centers that are more expensive than the rest e.g. London, Vienna, Zürich, Paris vs country side.
For Switzerland: Regular hotels or BnB's can cost between 70-150 CHF a night. There are guest houses that cost 40 CHF a night (e.g. Guest House Schäfler). Regular lunch not in touristy centers or cities costs about 15-20 CHF including beverage. If vegetarian, then it's usually cheaper. Renting a car costs 70-80 CHF a day. Train pass I am now sure, can be maybe 60 CHF a day for tourists.
Hello, what month was this filmed? What's the name of your hotel. Looks cozy.
Hi. I was there during July 2019. The hotel is called Le Grand Chalet Favre in Saint-Luc.
Yes, yes, most definitely!
Great to hear that you agree :) ^^
I would definitely go to these villages. Are there cows up there in the summer?
