- Sabbione is a hidden gem that offers an insight into the rural life and culture of Switzerland. It is a place where you can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Sabbione is a small village in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland, located in the district of Leventina, near the border with Italy. It has a population of about 50 people and is known for its traditional stone houses and picturesque mountain views.
Sabbione is so charming because it has preserved its historical and cultural heritage. The village has a small church dedicated to Saint Martin dating from the 14th century and frescoes from the 15th and 16th. The church is also the starting point of a pilgrimage route that leads to the nearby sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso.
Another reason why Sabbione is so attractive is that it offers a variety of natural attractions. The village is surrounded by forests, meadows and streams that create a peaceful and relaxing environment. The most impressive natural feature of Sabbione is the Sabbione Waterfall, which is a 40-meter cascade that flows into the River Brenno. The waterfall is accessible via a hiking trail that leads from the village through a forest and a bridge. The trail is about 2 kilometers long and takes about 45 minutes.

I didn't hear dogs barking, ppl yelling, car stereos, air planes flying over, utility trucks doing electric or phone work, etc. Nothing but spring water bubbling down. This place is unreal!

Visited Lucern as a child in the early 80s. The absolute beauty of Switzerland stayed with me my entire life and I still dream of one day returning. If I ever won the lottery, I'd definitely buy a home there.

Makes me sad to see a heaven like this, and I'm in America, watching my country and the American ideology and constitution get torn to shreds. I wish could could move there. That's my kind of place.
