The entire first album/ROIR cassette is pure Godliness. "I Luv I Jah" is truly Wailers-worthy Reggae and I feel this music in my heart and soul every day. 🙏🏼💗🌈🕊️🎶⚡️💫🪷
I always hated the "I like the Bad Brains, but I skip over or totally take out the reggae" Forget that! I dig those tunes especially off Rock For Light.
I don’t think they’ll ever get the recognition they deserve. They were even nominated for the RRHOF. Even if they won, their performance would be a disaster.

I remember back in the 80s when I first started listening to the Bad Brains reading a story that HR was visited by Jah who sent him word that he was to carry the message of love and peace to the skinheads and the way to do that was by learning hardcore music
I always loved the reggae songs from Bad Brains, I was so young when I met Daryl when he was playing for the band stealth, I miss bands who live and love the music they make.
Matt Crumplebutt The first hardcore band, if you could call them that, was Stealth opening for Vision, Madball and Voodoo Glow Skulls when I was like 13.
I recorded/mixed this on a cassette tape and carried it around the country with me for years exposing many to perhaps some of the best reggae there is...
My Friend knows Bad Brains because of only punk but I only heard the Reggae part of it thanks to my Older Bros. I heard of their punk songs on the Skate Games and slowly listening to into the Punk portion still badass regardless and killed it on each Genre. Choas and Peace Bad Brains is the perfect mix 🤘🍃💨
The only band to combine speed metal and reggae with such expertise. I have been following BB since 1982, and their reggae tracks would make Lee Perry, Gladiators, Congos, Burning Spear, etc very proud.
H.R. Survives AMERICA !? Better listen to you your ol' paps Lee Perry! You do and your work is endless like a electrician's (endless , needed and respected ). THANK YOU GUIDER! Music works! ''I LOVE AH JAH !''.
Thank you for this upload, one of my favorite punk rock bands who were crazy enough to play around some people that had a few screws loose and sing praises to Jah unashamed. Peace!
i love how these guys play crazy stuff like hardcore which is good mellow stuff like reggae which is also good and have a lot of crazy people fans and by that i mean a lot of metalheads like them
best band to come out of DC, they played at MOAC back in 78, HR is one of the best, I know because me and Russel started em off on a journey and the path will never be over
i was at manchester international gig, anybody else remember all the sweat dripping off that low ceiling, yuk, but what a gig, one of the best bands ever. loved watching this again, thanks for uploading
I can't believe it took me so long to find this. These guys are so roots. Fantastic post, and I am only 2 minutes in, but I know how this turns out. Thank you for this.
What's that Bad Brains vs reggae or hardcore discussion? They play both very well and both causes behind the music are worth fighting for. Great band and great music thank you for uploading and please leave the words for cousy saloons and so called music specialists retrospections
Yeah, so I was searching for the best BB reggae tracks I could think of, when the link for your 52 minute compilation popped up in the right-hand margin. Thank you so much for saving me time and hassle, searching and clicking
Thank you for making this and for posting it. I have made compilations of their reggae and dub tunes onto audio cassette tape back in the day. They have put out a lot more since then. Thanks!
Loved the reggae. Was drawn in to it instantly. Although hardcore punk was main interest….They are the main reason I began to explore other reggae such as BMW Steel pulse, Burning Spear etc
Anyone who says that never saw them live. Nor do they understand that the best punk was Speed Jazz: FEAR, DK’s, Black Flag most punk musicians parents were musicians and schools taught music, art, choir! All City, All State I was classically trained in the Pasadena Boys Choir. Slam dancing was based on Ska moves speed up and their Reggae just slowed the pace down like Trinidad/Jamaican skins and two-tone. They were adored from day one by everyone in the scene and their Gold and Yellow tapes are cherished possessions. I was born in D.C. and grew up from 9 on in Los Angeles. Our scene was multicultural, gat and straight, liberal, radical and only became “conservative” thanks to Straight Edge and some later Orange County goons. The NEWS and White Identity militias turned the idea of Skins into racist tropes after BASH got chased out of SF and Screwdriver opened their crapholes! Just saying… cause I was there!
Can't even thank you enough! Thanks for taking the time. I love it when you talk to people who think they know reggae and they have no clue who H.R. is or B.B. The best thing about it is that the same can be said about punk. Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw HR's first tour going solo..One of the most entertaining shows I have ever seen bar none. Did all the songs from the human rights album (charge) and more!

It was Bad Brains that taught me in 88' that Punk and Reggae are one in the same. Then, I got deep into SKA in the early 90s.
I always hated the "I like the Bad Brains, but I skip over or totally take out the reggae" Forget that! I dig those tunes especially off Rock For Light.
Some of the best dub out there
Easily one of the best bands ever. They did it ALL
I don’t think they’ll ever get the recognition they deserve. They were even nominated for the RRHOF. Even if they won, their performance would be a disaster.
Such a good transition between two really amazing genres.

I saw them in Zürich & New York together with Circle Jerks. I am truely blessed.
I love their hardcore punk stuff, but their reggae is just gold.
I love Bad Brains' punk and rock songs, but they also legit make some phenominal and chill reggae songs. Great mix.
Jah guidance!
Give thanks and praise to Jah almighty.
In 1983, I hired a new keyboard player from Paramus, NJ and she took me to see Bad Brains at a club there…was blown away.
