Thats the difference between trae and luka that people dont see.. sure luka has needed the ball alot and can create off the dribble, do flashy moves and get flashy assists like trae... but hes learned to play off ball FAR more, hes become great at catch and shoot shots, he dominates the post, runs the fast break, he lets kyrie take over while still being able to screen for him and others and has even become an above average defender when hes committed...it annoys me when people try to compare them.. luka is actually a winning player because he shoots far more efficiently, turns the ball over less, is way more consistent and a way better defender who has learned to play as a team..

If youre a fan of a player, then you want to see them do well which is related to stats. As the game became more global, more players get more fans so more people will care about stats Also, there were simply less former players to compare too. In order to compare players, you need to use stats in the equation. If Wilt had more fans during his playing days, people would care about his stats

Trae helps this team, even if they do good without him you gotta check and see that a lot of the time it’s against mid teams or teams that are frauds like Boston , who are good but lose games because their top guys choke. Jalen Johnson and Dejounte Murray are good players but they need a Trae young around, somebody who’s gonna be consistently good night in and night out. Dejounte may suffer because he also is ball oriented like Trae but he’s able to focus more on scoring
