Thanks for joining me for the 4th arrondissement! Only three left in in this series, it's hard to believe! Don't forget to grab my guide for all the up to date recommendations I can offer at parisinmypocket.com !
I’d love to live on Île Saint-Louis. Great views across the river to Hôtel de Ville. Well I can dream! Lol I love the walk from Arsenal along the river to the island. Cheers Jay!
I am going at the end of October, HOPING Notre Dame is open by then !! Fingers crossed !!!! Thank you for this series of 20/20 I am still debating where to freaking stay !!! LoL ! Torn between the 9th,10th or 11th, I like less touristy stays.
Hearing you talk about the heat reminded me that last year when I spent 2 days wandering around the 4th arrondissement, the weather was horrible, cold, heavy rain and wind, the worst weather I’ve ever had in Paris. Time to go back in nice weather.
Sometimes you talk too fast and I have no idea what you're talking about but I enjoy watching your videos just because you always make Paris look so beautiful and I was there in Paris 2 years ago and you've helped me maintain my love for Paris.
Jay, just wanted to thank you for your recommendation of Txango Taxi tours. Just spent two weeks in Paris and did three rides with them. It was so much fun! Thank you!
So cool finally being in Paris for the past four weeks after watching your first Take 20 in 20 series and the second one. I have taken a lot of tips from every episode and used them on this trip. Unfortunately I’m leaving mid week next week before the second series finishes but I have been staying in the 3rd Arr and spent alot of time in the 2nd and 1st. I have watched out for the little Boston terriers just in case! Very hot yesterday so I thought you have been filming yesterday. I think two weeks ago there was very hot weather followed by an extremely cold Thursday. The weather is very odd in Paris
Notre-Dame caught fire less than two months before I made my first trip to France back in 2019, it was awful following the news that day, I was sure the whole thing would collapse.... We make a point to drop by to see the progress made every time we visit, can't wait to go inside someday!
So I just learned something, there was once a third island, that now is part of the Right Bank. From the Seine to Blvd Morland. It was called L’ile Louviers, and Blvd Morland used to be Morland Quay. (Jay + Reddit + Wikipedia educating me about Paris today!)
The reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was announced to be on the 8th of December 2024. A Te Deum is planned for 15 April 2024, exactly 5 years after the fire.
The one and only time I went to Paris (2015), I didn't go in because I assumed the security lines were time-consuming! Hopefully I can go the next time I visit (probably 2025). Glad you are doing these 20 in 20s and will use Paris in My Pocket to help with my future visit!
Be aware of the new regulation for those from the USA, CA, UK, AUS and some other countries wishing to visit Europe called E.T.I.A.S. There are videos on the topics, there may be articles too. It supposed to be implemented in January 2024.
I just got back from Paris last week. My accommodations were a half block from Notre Dame. Everything was great, but one fact that people should be aware of is that no matter what, you should make your restaurant reservations BEFORE you leave home. If you watch these Paris videos and spot some restaurants that you want to visit, keep in mind that while Paris is always busy, but it is double busy at this time and even getting reservations for lunch is pretty impossible unless you book way ahead. Many have said service in Paris is terrible. I had very good service and staff was always polite in the lesser known cafes that I visited.

I think there’s a stereotype of Parisian hating American food mostly put forward by French men with obnoxious looking moustaches but nice to know there are nice ‘ot dog places there!

Your videos have made Paris a place to visit and enjoy. Cannot wait to arrive in May 2024.
Thanks!
I took my family to Eglise St. Louis for Christmas Eve mass last year. It was an amazing setting!
I’d love to live on Île Saint-Louis. Great views across the river to Hôtel de Ville. Well I can dream! Lol I love the walk from Arsenal along the river to the island. Cheers Jay!
Maybe one day!
Really nice video, Jay. Market this particularly.
Thanks for making it possible! 🍻
Jay, I'm so thankful for your most excellent coverage of this tragedy. I saw it better than with my own eyes, and was better informed too.

It's always a gamble in Paris. It was that weather two weeks ago, and last week it was hot and sunny!
Your Paris guide looks great! Much better than the outdated guidebook from the library 🙌

I’ve had such a fun time tuning into the series that I didn’t realise we reached the Semi-Final.

Paris weather is always up and down - light layers are the right way to go, and always bring an umbrella.

My friends aunt said this about me and my buddies church travels, “You only go to church if you have to pay to get in!”

Oh no. Notre Dame nearly burned down last time, and now he's back to finish the job! 😆 Crazy that it's been four years already!
I know, it's unbelievable!
