I have a 2011 KLR650 and love it for what it is. 62 years old now, my days of hard riding motocross are long gone and I just wanted a bike to enjoy forest service roads and tooling around in the countryside. Yeah, it doesn't do anything really great but I find it a very easy bike to ride and it takes me to very nice peaceful spots in the mountains. I have a Goldwing, Indian Roadmaster, Concours 1400 and a Yamaha Stratoliner. Each bike give a completely different experience. For what I needed it for, it was priced right, wasn't complicated (easy to work on) and dead reliable. Right now, I'm prepping it for a trip to Northern Idaho (on a trailer because I'm not riding it cross country) to enjoy some back country riding with my brother. The KLR is a great bike, are there better ones.....yes....but not for the money.
Well spoken. I'm on my second KLR now. From a gen1 to gen3. Where i live in Kamloops B.C, there are endless FSR's, tons of lakes, creeks and rivers. I needed a reliable adventure bike to get me out there to fishing lakes. The price was really good on the 2024 ABS model and so here I am again on a new KLR and couldn't be more happier. Installed a cnc windshield riser, GPS mount, a *Dirtracks full crash gaurd, usb outlet, seat pad with a sheepskin cover and I mounted an ammo box on the rear rack to start things off. Plan on installing rear *Dirtracks pannier racks, aux lights, IMS ext shifter, better footpegs and Barkbuster hand gaurds. Outfitting these bikes is a lot of fun! 😅
I'm 6'5" 256 and I've been looking at the KLR for my first bike. I'll be 55 in March.
Great for us big guys, think you will like it!
Do it brother. We're not getting any younger. I'm 55 & bought a Beta 500 endro a few years ago. Every time I ride i have a huge smile. Last year I got a 06 V Strom 650. Love that too. Go get it. You will Absolutely Love it... Enjoy
Did you get it? How do you like it if you did?
Just picked up a used 2022 KLR. I would have never thought about buying one but rode my brothers for several hundred miles one day....I absolutely loved it! I will say that I prefer his 2013 carbed bike over the fuel injected bike. Good video content/discussion!
Thanks Ray, appreciate that. Hope your enjoying your KLR too
I have no regret whatsoever purchasing my KLR, have owned my gen two several years now. It is the one motorcycle that no matter who I put on it they always return with a wall to wall smile, even my biggest baddest Harley friends. I plan to always have one in my stable. Completed a dream trip out West this August, traveled more than eight hundred miles in the dirt in the states of Wyoming and South Dakota.
that sounds like a great trip!
I still have the Harley - but I love m '23 KLR to bits. I spend as much, if not more time on it on the road as I do the HD. I like how lightweight and spunky it is to ride around, even if only around town for errands or a short blast to enjoy a nice day. No regrets at all - price, form and function - I love it.
Same and I love my Harley’s but this bike hits a different ride need
no regrets. I love my KLR, much more refined than my original first generation KLR and It really looks great too. Looking forward to more extended rides and other adventures with it. Stay up bro.
Right on
I put on a 16/38 sprocket set. I have the same yellow one. I use it to commute over 1000 miles a month. I have no regrets. It is a perfect bike for getting you where you are going.
Nice and fun bike and commute is possible for me too
Absolutely love my KLR! No regrets, I find myself riding more than my Harley. Don’t get me wrong, love my Harley, but the KLR is to me, is much more fun
Totally get that and great we both have the options!
Can I pet your beard ?
22' traveler has suited me very well I'm so sad to be putting it away for the winter soon.
same
If it's made for off roading, shouldn't it be able to handle winter riding on snow and ice?
I regretted selling my KLR650 for a 150cc scouter bike, with which I had the most terrible accident 15 years ago, breaking my leg, leading me to the the decision to stop biking. But nowdays I am rethinking into getting back into biking, just with a safe bike like the KLR, most probably a street bike this time like Ninja 650.
adventure bikes are spectacular! KLR is an iconic machine! ride on sir! do that dirt!
Will do!
A bike is a bike is a bike. Why would I regret buying another one? Have a newer KLR and bought a Pam American later.
I have a 2024 KLR that does everything. We put over 250 miles this past weekend on a moto camping trip in the Frazier Park. These bikes can do it all. Granted, it's not a KTM 890 adventure as far as suspension technology..etc. If you want a second bike that's affordable, comfortable, looks great with some upgrades (SW Moto crash bars, Acerbis hand guards and adventure mirrors), can take you off the beaten path, great gas milage (6 gallon tank), cheap insurance, than the KLR is calling your name. I love my KLR!
For me, it was a bad time of year to buy a 2nd bike to my HD Road King, I really didn't have the money for another bike, and my significant other HATED the idea and wouldn't even discuss it much less ride on it. All that said, at 63, I've returned to my mini-bike roots of 53 years ago and am loving every minute of it. I'm never getting rid of my 2022 Traveler.
After several street bikes, motocross bikes to now having an adventure bike. I have No regrets! Absolutely love my KLR. My only regret is not buying one sooner!
I have a little over 3k miles so far after just a few months and have been fortunate to not havr any major issues.
I went from a Yamaha Raider 1800cc cruiser to a Yamaha Tenere 700. I love the Tenere 700! Nimble fast enough for highway use, and I can go anywhere my riding skill will take me.
heard good things about that bike
No Regrets! buying my KLR is easily one of the best investments I've ever made. Even the ride to work puts a smile on my face. I've put almost 5k miles in 7 months of ownership. Yeah, I'd probably enjoy a bit more power on the highway, but this bike does exactly what I want it to do.
Couldn't agree more!
Couldn't agree more!
Sold my 890 R, and kept my 22 KLR✌️everything I need, nothing I don’t for my riding. Have a 690 for my more offroad adventures
Have a 2013 Adventure and have steering problems, too,but still think it's a great bike.
Same here and not sure if you watched my other video on the steering issues but it is somewhat common. They ended up replacing my bearings. Love the bike
Only two bikes I've ever owned are KLR650s. 34K on one and 45K on the current bike. Since I've never experienced other bikes, I'm happy to say I've been very pleased with the KLRs. No single track riding, but lots of gravel roads. Priced right, convenient dealer/service locations, easy for DIY servicing, and doesn't look bad. I'm 6'2", so found the KLR an easy bike to learn on.
we are together on that for sure!
Doohickey replacement or not🤔
@@toddbenfield6546 I've never doohickeyed my KLRs and I'm on my 3rd bike now.
Biggest mistake i ever made was selling my CSC RX3 and buying a 2022 klr 650 junk
Why did you regret your decision?
Dude, I like the color of your bike!!
Thanks and me too!
Very capable offroad bike, but far too heavy for me. I've owned 2 of em. If I had one now, I would ride it as a road bike. It's an excellent road bike that "can" take any road when conditions change like construction or even gravel. Making it more ideal for changing conditions than other street bikes like cruisers ect. It's a great bike, but to me it is a road bike and the ultimate utilitarian road bike.
That's what I want it for..
Haven't yet gotten an ADV bike, but my 99' Sportster was definitely that WTF did I do moments. After some sorting stuff, maintenance & repairs and a 1250 Hammer kit later it's a lot of fun now. Wanting to dip my toes into the dirt side of riding but I am unsure as to how committed I wanna be. Start cheap on say a tw200, dr200, klx230 or just jump onto the KLR or the new vstrom de800 . . .
your thinking right I believe.....dip first
Maybe the middle with a drz400 or kawasaki klx 300
No regerts, only regurts when I sell one. But then I just replace it and I'm happy again. When is this trip? where are we going? the CFR will trailer well. I loved the Pan Am and did what I need it for. Now I'm happy with the Itchy special
lol....I remember that tat.....No Regurts.
@@stefanpuffer😂😂
My left ear enjoyed this video
yeah...I know....amateur here some days
I bet you won’t skip 6’ on that pond before you go over the handlebars. 😃👍
It would be great video though, right? 😂
MABDR!!! Let’s do it!!!!!
I rode a 2015 Suzuki DR650 for five years for the Phila Police Department. I like my 2023 KLR650S a whole lot better. NO REGRETS.
Depends on your riding style and where you take the bike. I switched from an AT to a Dr650 and could not be happier. But I like getting to very tricky mountain locations.
You like something heavier, lower powered, worse suspension, less ground clearance, higher seat, less reliable, more plastic to crack, more electronics to fail, less aftermarket? .... Please explain
@@stevesjourney7000 If he is road touring exclusively, then KLR is a better choice. Anything offroad and DR will out rank any day.
@@BlazerLz change a seat and add a windshield total less than 500 and I've put 30k miles on since March on mine and it's so much more highway capable than a KLR due to power
Maybe as reliable, definitely not more reliable
Even Ken Kaplan stands by his klr and ride hundreds of different bikes all the time!
That's a pretty bike ❤
I have found my KLR650 is far more capable than me and most people I know. Most people that are critics are not even skilled enough to unleash the bike's full potential.
I love my 2023 KLR 650!
same! Steering okay?
100%. Crating it to Georgetown Guyana next year, touring south America, Central America,
How fass it go?
Well, I think it could get up to about 85 or 90 but if you’re looking for Speed, this isn’t the right bike
Never regret buying a motorcycle. And who can regret buying the Steeler's Colors? You always have to think of price these days. You made a good choice, for sure. Ride Safe
shitsburg 🤮
Let's go STEELERS!!!!
My only regret about buying a bike a gen2 KLR was suffering a injury and not getting to ride it as much as it should
better now?
@@bodeanaventures well have spent the time money and the fun of modding the bike because why not and have a few moto camping trips planed for the newyear
Have had 2 KLRs. Now have an Africa Twin...superb bike. The KLR, while capable, is woefully underpowered to be any fun. Can't ever envision buying another one. On the other end, I have had 3 dr650s... still have one. Kawasaki needs to reduce the weight and increase the horsepower. It's alure is the low price, relative comfort and torquey motor.
i regret my BMW, too big and heavy, too expensive, didnt suit my riding style, hated it honestly! now im on a much lighter bike, a 2 stroke TDR250 and its so much funner and "me"
Sometimes painful to get there, but good when you are all right
No regrets on my 23 Adventure it’s my Leatherman motorcycle, one machine that does it all. Besides I can’t afford multiple motorcycles. Enjoy your KLR videos looking forward to your long adventure ride.
Appreciate that and the "Leatherman Motorcycle" is perfect. Thanks!
I’m extremely happy with my ADV bike!!
plus you are a RUclips star on it
@@bodeanaventures 😂🤣😂 again with the stretch… I’m on RUclips, but I’m one very dull star at the moment!😂🤣😂
Its 500lbs yet nimble as a track bike, and has the acceleration of a 75cc amazon DUI scooter. You really gotta be doing all the things your not supposed to do to un alive yourself on it. Its honestly the perfect beginner bike for a tall person. Idk had an 1190, and the klr and didnt wanna sell it then, 1190 got wrecked, and still riding the klr. Honestly tied between the tenere 700 and the super tenere. And still gonna keep it.
More delights per dollar.
so TRUE
I wish Harley made a KLR 650
Nothing priced close for sure
No sound homie...Weird, some of your videos I have sound some I don't.
went to a new set up and had some problems on a few. Should be better in the future.
@@bodeanaventures 😎 Cool.
Put 13k miles on a Gen 1.. sold and regretted it. Bought a new 22!
Nice
I love my KLRS
That thing is crazy quiet cant hear the bike at all
The sound messed up in this video, that is why we do not hear the bike
Do you love the KLR? Then it’s the right bike!!!!!
I only hear regrets from people who sell their KLR’s. I have three bikes and the KLR is my trusted bike.
keeper for sure
Bob, Bob, Bob, it’s a boat ramp, not a motorcycle ramp!!!
but but butt butt
@@bodeanaventures 😂🤣😂
No ragrets "Scottie P" 😅
Zippo
It’s the Massey-Ferguson of motorcycles
☺☺
I agonized for months over KLR vs a T7
which way did you go?
A '22 T7 - I would have been super happy with either, but on the day I went t buy the KLR, they had this used T7 out the front, and it was too close in price to the Traveller ABS to pass up :-)
No regrets here.
Best bikes for the $
Value for sure
Only regret is needing that 6th gear. Then we'd be getting better gas mileage. 😂
😂
Regret?? That bike is like 8k. I spend that in two weeks !!!
Of course you do
Boat launch any bike
Sounds fun anyway
cognitive dissonance is uncomfortable
