    I fitted those reverse light units on my L322 a few weeks ago. I wasn't crazy about them at first but they've grown on me. I like how they sort of echo the circular design of the taillights.

    I find that warmer dipped lights dazzle me less than cold ones, which can be a big problem when they are mounted on comparatively high vehicles like this. Warm dip, cold main seems a good compromise. I'm not sold on the reversing lights. They do look very non-original and rather cheap. As opposed to inexpensive.

  • @JohnBaxendale
    @JohnBaxendale Год назад +2

    The style of those reversing lights actually mirrors your additional lights above quite well... the only thing I'd like to suggest is that you start to mention the CRI of the LED's you're using, this is generally considered way more important than the colour temperature - a lot of warmer temperature LED's have much higher CRI's, which is why they're preferable as things look more recognisable, even if they're technically not as "bright". Colder colour temperatures LED's tend to put out more lumens, but don't necessarily make for better vision!

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  Год назад +1

      I can sort of see that! Now they’ve been on a week or two I don’t really notice them.
      Regarding CRI, good idea - but unfortunately the vast majority of LEDs don’t list CRI. It’s not something I’ve ever seen listed for automotive applications but it would be useful!

    • @JohnBaxendale
      @JohnBaxendale Год назад

      I *think*, generally, COB strips tend to have better CRI

  • @kristoffscuba5466

    The main problem with those fresnel lens style LED lights is that they look utterly terrible. It's an L322 not an L320 Sam, get that tat off it! ;) I've gone for the DIY option on my L322 like you used to have, and they work great. Since most L322 reverse lights basically fall apart anyway with the glue failing, fitting them is very easy.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  Год назад +2

      They are a bit chinsy looking, but wanted to try them out regardless. I might buy another set of standard lights and then try upgrading them a bit more professionally next time. Cheers!

      @jackfrear3537 Год назад +4

      Suspect there would be a pretty good market for pre-modified original reverse lights with LEDs fitted.... I'd buy some anyway

    I just love led lights such better then old style fittings, I had a Merc and the bulbs were endlessly blowing so replaced with led bulbs and never blew again, same goes with my house so many bulbs used to blow, take the kitchen underneath of the cupboards lightening they used to go all the time and were quite expensive for a silly little bulb and again changed them for led lightening and still have them about 15 years later they were worth the extra money. I own an evoque and must say tempting to change the boot bulb now for a brighter white led one.

    Hi sam i wondered if i can ask you a question as you seem really knowledgeable about the L322, mine is an 04 vogue and i recently took the battery off to recharge it and when i put it back on it cranks but wont fire. Ive checked the fuses and relays to the fuel pump and all seem fine. Ive come to look for the inertia swith that cuts off the fuel in the event of an accident( its not been in one) and there is not one anywhere that i can see. Is there any other way you know of that will get fuel in to fire the engine. Many thanks Will.

    Hi Sam. When looking at the Headlight upgrade, did you look at LEDs and what specification? And any conclusions please, looking for a Cool white against a Warm white. Followed you with the other LED upgrades....all good. The reversing lights aren't for me, have a white L322 and don't think the black would suit it, instead I inserted LED bulbs in my reversing lights. Will have to wait until you display the item in the outro...."or is it" before I purchase anything headlighty! 😱

    • @SamsMotors

      Hi, do you mean HID replacement with LED? I have looked into this yes - there are quite a few options available - even Bevinsee does one now. It might be something I try out next winter - we're sort of coming the end of 'headlight season' now!

    Hey Sam, for those reverse lights. Did you find them to wiggle a bit once put into place? Mine seem to. It seems like it would be hard to install them incorrectly. When off the lens is completely black. They look a bit different then yours. As far as I know I ordered them from your link. I like them, except for the wiggle.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  Год назад

      Hey Jerry. Did you transfer over the rubber gaskets from the back of your old lights? If not, that’ll probably cause them to be a bit loose.

    I previously had a Saab 9000 CD.
    For him, the outer ~1/4 was curved so that the driver can see wider. Has anyone seen such mirrors for RR? I miss the field of view of the l322. The mirrors seem small.

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  Год назад +1

      Bit of an unfair comparison, we can't expect a Range Rover to match up to a Saab! 😜
      I find the mirrors to be OK on the L322... you could add the little inset "blind spot" mirrors if you wanted though I guess?

    Sam, great video as always - thanks for uploading. Your L322 makes the exact same weird noise as mine at 17:17. Any idea what the clicking noise is? I've been told it's the viscous fan clutch and nothing to worry about. Is it something you've looked into? For reference I've also got the 4.4 TDV8. Thanks!

    • @robholland1937

    • @SamsMotors

      Yeah Rob says, normal 4.4 TDV8 noise caused by the fan clutch. From what I've read even brand new fan clutches make the same sound.

    Are the headlights on the facelift different to the pre facelift? I’ve got a 2008 vogue and there’s a little metal clip that holds the main beam in place and I can’t get it over the Bevinsee LED bulb?

    • @SamsMotors
      @SamsMotors  Год назад

      If you remove the adapter from the Bevinsee (twist to remove) and insert that first, you should be able to then insert the LED and twist it to lock in place.
