  • This is only our second Jinjer reaction, so we're pretty new to this band. Perennial seemed like a deep song with layered meaning from what we could make out. We're still earning our ear for this type of music, so give us some time to adjust. It's a little frustrating that we can't make out all the lyrics, but we know we'll get an ear for it over time.

What you see is a circle pit. The crowd runs around in a circle. A mosh pit we all slam into each other. It’s a primal release but if you see someone fall we have to pick them up before they get trampled. The wall of death the crowd splits in two and then slams into one another like a battle field. Crowd surfing the crowd lifts you up travels you from around.

I only did the crowd surfing thing once, at a Tool concert. It was fun the first few times getting passed up to the front by the stage and then running around to the back again, but then I hit a hole and got dropped and smacked my head pretty good on the ground. My vision got blurry but I could see the bodies around me starting to close in and I thought I was in real trouble. Luckily a guy nearby saw me, reached down and grabbed my hand and pulled me up. Last time I ever did that!!

Perennial is about the change of seasons. How in the fall and winter everything seems to die out, but it's not really dead it's just sleeping until spring. So the lines " your not dead, no your not dead, just enjoying coma" illustrates the cycle of life.

You can read the lyrics right after the song, they will not disappoint you. It's about nature that dies and resurrects over and over again. It's about Tatiana's depressions as she said. Don't be fooled by Tatiana's growls, she is a very nice, fragile and humble person. I am a little bit puzzled how quickly Lex diving into Jinjer. I am a metal-head guy listened to their songs several times before getting into those growls. But the tiny girl Lex enjoys it from the first try! Some people really born for this kind of music.

Yes, it's a mosh pit and there are several forms of it. The one you see in this video is called a circle pit, but if you'll watch the official video of Jinjer song Teacher, Teacher then you'll see another type called The Wall of Death (description unnecessary, trust me, you'll see it) and yes, people have died in these types of "dancing".

As an older African-American that loves metal and has listen to it for the last 35 years and as a guitar player myself I have often found that not many of my peers understand or listen to the things that I love and I would say to you that the lyrical content in this type of music is very deep and beautiful and artistic and would challenge you to continue on this journey. Check out “teacher teacher “next as the intro has an almost hip-hop flow to it but of course with Jinjer being the incredible band they are they take you on a journey from there 🙏🏾✌🏾

Nice reaction you two. I love how Lex gets all happy and into it. Jinjer is a phenomenal band, not just Tati even though she gets the most attention because of her incredible vocals, Eugene, (bass), Roman (guitar), and Vlad (drums) are equally phenomenal. I got the VIP meet and greet tickets to see them in L.A. in October, so to finally see them live and meet them is going to be incredible. They announced their North American tour about a month ago, so they might be in a city near you in case you wanna see them just saying 😉😉 The crowd going in a circle is called a "circle pit" and it happens at metal concerts, but it's all voluntary, like take for instance me, I'm 50, and when I see Jinjer I'm going to avoid one if it comes near me, because at my age, it could end up very bad for me LOL. 😊😊😊 I would suggest having the lyrics pulled up so you can follow along, you would be surprised how much easier it becomes to understand what Tati is saying when she growls. If you guys choose to react to more Jinjer, you won't be disappointed, each song is unique and different, some songs are heavy, others are not, but each one is fantastic. I'm going to throw out a Jinjer suggestion for you, and that song is I Speak Astronomy (OMV) it's a beautiful song, and the video is awesome. Peace you two, and as always, stay Metal. 😊😊🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

his autumn feels like funeral to me
    The longest song of grief
And not for what has passed
    But for what shall last
Exhausted nature is so tragic and suicidal
Oh how spectacular she is when she kills herself
Death throes are slowly crawling to her toes
As the last leaf is falling off her head
    I'm here with her undressed
With a few petals on my breasts
We shared opiates and let the landscapes do the same
I love your warmth but yet prefer to sleep in cold alone
We fixed our eyes up to the sky
To see a flight send us farewell
    Goodbye
May we see each other next time
So please, come back to celebrate this festival of life
    Then as now fly
Today you reached the point of no return
    Now cry and then die
Tomorrow I will meet you with your cells restored
    Annual tradition of mass destruction
In the name of total reconstruction
    My biggest source of confusion
The reason of decay and disillusion
    Under permanent ice
    We found a breathless paradise
    No, we're not dead
    No, we're not dead
    Just enjoying coma
From the ashes of my roots
The new me will rise to live again
    This is poetry of youth

I thought I commented on this, but I guess I didn't. Love your reaction :) It's cool watching your Jinjer journey.
Yeah, the lyrics are definitely a big thing with Jinjer. Tatiana puts a lot of effort into them and they have depth and are typically very poetic. This song is an awesome poem on it's own, then add the music and yeah, it's great. Of all the singers who do extreme vocals, I can understand Tatiana the best (and she sounds the best). She really puts a lot of effort into enunciation so you can hear what she is saying. She has a message and definitely wants people to hear it. The extreme vocals are all part of the expression of the songs for a reason.
Tatiana has said in interviews she deals with seasonal depression. This song uses the cycle of the seasons as a metaphor for going into depression in autumn ("Autumn feels like funeral to me") and then coming back out of it in spring. Nature slowly dies in the autumn ("annual tradition of mass destruction") and goes into coma in the winter ("under the ice we found breathless paradise", "no we're not dead, no you're not dead, just enjoying coma"). Then nature lives again in the spring ("from the ashes of my roots, the new me will rise to live again"). Love this song!
Yeah, Teacher, Teacher or I Speak Astronomy would be great next:
I Speak Astronomy: Official Video - ruclips.net/video/KJoPIgg17U4/видео.html&ab_channel=NapalmRecords (this is Tatiana sending a message out to the universe for her soulmate. The only "romantic" song of theirs).
Teacher, Teacher: Official Video - ruclips.net/video/oRkRwL0vjOg/видео.html&ab_channel=NapalmRecords (this is about people who abuse their power or position and tell people how to live when they themselves have no clue really, using a religious school scenario as the story).
Yeah, check out the Tour dates for Jinjer. I have VIP tickets for the Portland, OR Oct 24th show, can't wait! They just announced another show in Portland on the 25th as well.

There's nothing wrong with reading over the lyrics. I've seen reactors do it either just before they hit play or they get going about half way through then pause real quick to do a quick read. Or even pull them up and have them ready at the end of the song so you guys can talk about them. No matter what you do, I promise... the more you listen to this style of music, the easier you'll pick up lyrics.
If you guys choose to do my favorite song by them "Home Back"... I would definitely read over before watching. The band members come from Ukraine and the song basically talks about what it was like for them growing up in a literal war zone. So knowing the lyrics before hand , then seeing the visuals of the video, really gives an impact on the viewer.
Keep it up... you guys are awesome!

I love watching people discover Jinjer. They are, for lack of a stronger word, phenomenal. Their musicality is always on point, Tatiana is prodigious, and they aren't afraid to blend genre's. I would recommend Teacher, Teacher as a song to react to.
What they showed there is a circle pit, a type of mosh pit. Moshing is a cathartic release. A lot of people who listen to metal do it because they identify with some anger, or angst portrayed in the music. Moshing is a way to 'safely' exert that release. They are violent, but nobody is trying to hurt anyone else, and anyone who is trying to is handled in swift and decisive fasion. There's no room for hate in the pit.

  • @davidburlington3659

Hi guys! That group of fans going around in a circle is called a "circle pit," which is one type of mosh pit. I've got tickets for Jinjer in Atlanta this December, but I paid for an actual seat because I'm too old for the mosh pits, ha ha. This show was taped at a huge metal music festival in Wachen, Germany. Tatiana calls her low, distorted vocals her "growls. She calls her regular singing voice her "clean" vocals. So you'll often hear metal fans using the terms growls and cleans. I first heard of Jinjer via RUclips and am now a big fan, with all of their CD's. The more you listen to the growls, the more you're able to decipher them. Thanks for a GREAT reaction! Take care.

Great reaction!! I discovered your channel after the first Jinjer reaction and already saw other videos, especially Twenty One Pilots, and I´m loving it. Fun, enjoyable and insigthful videos, really cool you try to get meanings and all (more Lex, Brad is more goofin around, but it works, makes a good contrast :D ).
Epic live performance, truly special band and Lex is right, it adds extra layers of difficulty growling, screaming, frying and singing clean in just one song as opposed to just do one of those for the entire song. It takes mad skills, training and focus because in a snap it can all crumble with a single mistake. You really gotta check out the amazing "Teacher, Teacher" official, one of their masterpieces, it´s a blast! Keep up the great vids, peace.

    Great reaction!
If you ever visit a metal concert, you'll see, that metal people are mostly the nicest people ever. For example: if you fall in the mosh pit every one around you will work together to keep you from getting trampled and to lift you up as fast as possible.
Since you started venturing into Rock and Metal, here are some suggestions:
    Metallica: One
Rammstein: Du Hast live from Paris
    Queen: Bohemian Rhapsody
Iron Maiden: Fear Of The Dark
    Guns n' Roses: November Rain
Rage Against The Machine: Killing In The Name Of
    Slipknot: Unsainted
Slipknot: Spit It Out live at Download Festival
Corey Taylor (singer of Slipknot): Spit It Out acoustic live in London
    Stone Sour: Through Glass
Dragon Force: Through Fire And Flames
    Soul Asylum: Runaway Train
Pink Floyd: Another Brick In The Wall
    The Offspring: Pretty Fly
    ...
    Greetings from Germany

I'm new to this channel thanks to the Jinjer reacts. Really cool, genuine stuff that's been fun to watch. I needed the positivity today. Since the other comments have a lot of the music covered, here's the deal with the crowds.
The standing crowd where people are shoulder-to-shoulder and squashed together is the "mosh pit". As for what to do, generally whatever you're actually able to do. Jump and nod/bang your head, mostly.
The guys running in a circle are the creatively-named "circle pit". If you ever go to a show, these are to be avoided. What was seen here is the tame version, likely thanks to Jinjer's tempo shifts. The circle pit will commonly clear out a section in the middle reserved for running into each other and other... let's say "aggressive" activities. Leaving with injuries is just an accepted possibility.
But to leave on a more positive note, crowd surfing was also shown. Getting carried above a crowd, and helping crowd surfers towards the front, where they get helped down and led back to the crowd, can be a weirdly communal experience. Search "wheelchair crowdsurf" to see crowds of crazy, tattooed metal heads routinely come together to do something cool.

Just a note about that concert and the monitor (ear piece). They had a 5 min delay while the organizers worked on bleed through from another band into their monitors. Just before her slide and belt she flipped the monitor out because she had been singing with another dude singing in her ear and she didn't want to mess up. That's why you see her keep fiddling with the monitor in that song. She's an amazing professional.

Mosh pit = a "dance of wild" do your thing, swing yo stuff and bump & push off of each other while trying to stay on your feet. A Circle pit (what you see here) is much the same except everyone is moving in the same direction. A Wall of Death is where the moshers line up across from each other and when the beat drops they run slamming into each other and start a mosh. It is a GREAT way to release the angst. Last pit I got to be in was Slayer! My feet did not touch the ground for like half-hour intervals! If you guys really want to go to a Jinjer concert, after the restrictions are all over, Rocklahoma will be on and Jinjer is supposed to play. Would love to host you guys and check out the show (a three day event, I think).

Jinjer (/ˈdʒɪndʒər/ "ginger") is a Ukrainian metalcore band from Donetsk, formed in 2008. None of the founding members remain with the band. The current lineup considers 2009 as its official year of formation, with the arrival of singer Tetiana Shmailyuk and guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov.[5] The band has since added bassist Eugene Abdukhanov and drummer Vladislav Ulasevich. Their most recent album, Wallflowers, was released in August 2021. English not being their mother tongue I'd say their pretty damn good, and don't forget that their nation is at war at the moment so that's heavy on their minds i'm sure. I know that they have crossed the pond to America before, and can only hope that it happens again. This show is live in 2019 Wacken, Germany. The song about the cycle of life and death. It speaks of a moment where the speaker, inspired by nature and the changing of the seasons, is saying goodbye to an old, exhausted life and looking forward to a new one. The lyrics of the song also reflect the cyclical nature of life, as death is followed by rebirth, resembling the idea that life is a circle. The song goes on to reflect on the destruction of life to make way for something new, and finally, it looks to the renewing of life from the ashes of death, acknowledging the beauty of both destruction and rebirth. Lyrics below:
This autumn feels like funeral to me
    The longest song of grief
And not for what has passed
    But for what shall last
Exhausted nature is tragic and suicidal!
Oh how spectacular she is when she kills herself!
Death throes are slowly crawling to her toes
As the last leaf is falling off her head
    I’m here with her undressed
With a few petals on my breasts
We shared opiates and let the landscaped do the same
I love your warmth but yet prefer to sleep in cold alone
We fixed our eyes up to the sky
To see a flight send us farewell
    Goodbye!
May we see each other next time
So please, come back to celebrate this festival of life!
    Then as now fly!
Today you reached the point of no return
    Now cry! And then die!
Tomorrow I will meet you with your cells restored
    Annual tradition of mass destruction
In the name of total reconstruction
    My biggest source of confusion
The reason of decay and disillusion
Under permanent ice we found breathless paradise
    No, we’re not dead
    No, we’re not dead
    Just enjoying coma
From the ashes of my roots the new me will rise to live again
This is poetry of youth, this is poetry of me and you!

I just discovered Jinjer last year and I've never listened to this type of music in my life . I could not understand a single word .you do have to train your ear for it and what I found helps me is to read the lyrics while she's singing so I would suggest after a reaction go back and listen to the song again while reading the lyrics. That way your ear will start to pick it up. You see how much you're enjoying them now just wait until you start hearing the lyrics tati is a very amazing songwriter especially for English not being her native language some of her songs have words that I don't even know what they mean lol and she pronounces them so well that once you have your ear trained ,you will be able to understand every word she says. I would like to suggest teacher, teacher I think you will really enjoy it !

It’s called a circle pit, lex is basically right you just run in a circle. General etiquette of a mosh pit is bumping, shoving, and pushing are all green lit, but if anyone ever goes down, stop the pit to get them up so nobody gets trampled. Bruises no breaks.

Been watching your pisces, teacher teacher and this video, love to see you're both into it :)
What they were doing is a 'circle pit' the mosh pit is generally the area in front of the stage where most people tend to 'mosh' . It looks violent, but it really isnt. You should really really check out a metal gig once, the metal community is probably the most welcoming of them all :) and Lex is for sure a born metal head haha

Great reaction you guys, little info on mosh pits got you!
So, when at a metal concert you have mosh pits, circle pits, and also the wall of death.
Mosh pits are a lot of pushing and shoving, occasionally elbows.
Circle pits you're running in a circle while pushing and shoving.
The wall of death is when the artist splits the crowd down the middle, and when they hit the breakdown of the song you charge at each other and attempt to get to the other side of the crowd.

  • @obenohnebohne

A metal concert is a transcendent experience. Circle pit = people running in a circle. (The craziest circle pit => Heaven Shall Burn - Voice of the Voiceless [Live at Wacken 2009 - HD DVD])
Moshpit = pushing each other (but still looking after another, if one goes down everybody help one up), wall of death = people open up and on commando running to the other side, headbang = neck training ;). Metalheads are nice people, everybody just wants to enjoy the music, the energy and getting out the negative feelings in a positive way. Teacher, teacher will bring more understanding to you. I won’t say a word in which way. You both have to find out yourselfs.
