My mind is completely blown! To see your chisels leave polished surfaces on their final pass is a thing of beauty! Thanks for showing next level layout and execution.
I watch a lot of RUclips. So much that I try and find other things to do to keep me from watching so much youtube. This series of videos is by far my favorite thing on RUclips and I've never clicked so fast to watch a video
This is one of the most satisfying video I've ever seen in my life. The most complex joint with 100% precision. Such a talented craftsmanship you've displayed. Keep it up
Precision is everything in this one, interesting to see that you cut one complete corner before adding the third leg, real clever way to do this joint. Bravo Sir
Dude. I love your vids but I need to keep my job so I’ll watch this later. Just here to show luv Edit: Back again, work over. Your video was cathartic. What a great way to wind down my day- thanks again!
This is the most amazing woodworking video I've ever seen. I would like to have the patience and skill to be able to make assemblies like this. I've gotten so used to power tools that I doubt I can use saws with that quality of finish again. Great job, my respects.
Your work is improving quite a bit, it’s always been impressive, I’m having a difficult time finding anything wrong with the craftsmanship this last couple of videos. It far exceeds my abilities, so I can only critique from the sidelines.
Judging by the dimensionality, the blind joint with the single tenon is meant for a compressive load, not a sheer. Probably intended to be used on the corner of a structure to hold some kind of roofing member in place, but when you also want to hide the mitered joint. And twisting or lateral motion would sheer that tenon clean off. It's always interesting to look at the engineering of the joint and try to guess the applications it would be useful for.
missed seeing your work. This looks like the hardest joint you've done and it's awesome. The soundtrack is also an unexpected delight. Also noticing those blood blisters and bandages. Hand tools are hard on the hands.
Great to see another video appear from you, just amazing joinery. Would love to utilise this in something one day. It's actually quite complicated even planning such a joint though.
Excellent work (as usual). What's the name of the saw used at 13:02 ? It's not the ryoba you were using earlier on in the build and it looks like it has a nice wide blade.
Saw this from Andrew Hunter a few months ago. It looked super confusing then. After seeing it cut, I can honestly say, I feel more confused than I did before 😂 awesome work!
Three ways miter joinery is a very common joinery that has been used in China for at least a thousand year . Now a day you still can see it in China for most of of the solid wood furniture.
@@fatcamp907 at first it's hard to figure out, usually chinese masters don't need any drawing or prints. but for first learning, you need some reference or prints. Here are some references. www.finewoodworking.com/2011/01/22/3-way-miter-joint-chinese-style ruclips.net/video/AZ4pcEG1jqI/видео.html

Great stuff! I was looking at the hell tenon video. Where can I get one of those sweet Japanese whale back saws (new)? I’ve been looking all over for one. Thanks
The Master Craftsman demonstrated unprecedented standard in design, workmanship, and accuracy. Thanks

That final fitup is the most satisfying moment I've had in years.
Yea, every effort just for that moment
Thank you! That's a great compliment :)
I totally agree

Thank you so much! It means a lot to hear that. I have the same reflex when Clickspring uploads a video :)
the accuracy and smoothness of the joint is just a beautiful thing. it gives me joy. everything just fits. youre a talented dude!!!!
Thanks!

A project is never complete until it gets your blood on it. Thanks for the vids, they are inspiring
Hahaha, true!

There's really no way to understand how impressive the fit of that joint is without actually trying it yourself... Very nice

Thanks Tony, just trying to minimize inconsistencies :)
A level of skill and patience I can only dream of. Thank you for the video

Holy crap, it's so good that it hurts my feelings. It's just astounding work.
Hahaha, thank you :)
That glossy look the work gets after being planed never gets old
That's a very complex joint but beautifully executed. Thank you for posting, good to see you back again. Bob

DB: Yes!
Greetings from Germany 🧡🧡🧡
Schönes Video, Dorian.
Klasse Verbindung hast du gemacht, die wohl nicht ganz einfach ist.
Es macht mir riesigen Spaß dir dabei zu zusehen. :-)
Danke! Das freut mich!
Beautiful!
Very abstract-architectural when lined up together

It is actually the top of a Ming style Chinese cabinet!
Just incredible! An absolute treat to watch...

I can only say WOWW, especially that final fitup!!
So happy that you are back. Still like the background music.
Thanks :)
Now that's some serious puzzle box joinery right there. Impressive!

Your still killin it! Beautiful work my man!!

Chapeau bas monsieur, rien que le tracé, de la science fiction!

Well, that's one joint that I'll never attempt to build and would completely screw it up if I tried.
Could you please make a video on how you sharpen your chisels. My never get that scharp.
Sure!
What a treat to watch Dorian. Certainly inspirational. Thank you for the upload. Keep up the amazing work.

Beautiful work. You make it seem so easy. Just curious, how long did it take you to do this whole joint, start to finish? Thanks.
Thanks! It took me a day and a half, with no experience in this joint whatsoever.

Never mind, I can see it's a Z Saw Kataba Universal Crosscut from the markings.
Cross blade not universal crosscut (doesn't have the leading III before the 8)!
best joinery ever!

@@meanbob6762 thanks!
Yes, what Paul said ;)
looks nice, but what is the strength of the joint with a downward pressure on the lintel?
Thank you!
Strong enough for furniture to last the ages. Also depends on the dimensions of the material.
@16:06 what is the name of that tool and where is it sold?
Just surreal!!
Always incredible. Where do you come up with the ideas for these joints?
Three ways miter joinery is a very common joinery that has been used in China for at least a thousand year . Now a day you still can see it in China for most of of the solid wood furniture.

Do you work off prints, or just design it all yourself?

Matt Svoboda I didn't have any prints, just a picture of the joint. Then I reverse engineered everything.
Great ! Best things I ever seen...
Thank you!
Is there a link with detailed explanation on how to recreate this joint?
Maybe online, but I don't have one. I worked of a photo.
this would save me a ton of money on nails and screws
Yes, it would but how many hours would you spend instead!

Screws won't last long. Maybe 10 years tops. This one will last 100's of years if taken care of properly.
Hej man love you videos. What kind of wood do you use for all of your joinery?
wow, that was amazing.

Thank you! No, you can buy them from Dictum online. I have an affiliate link in the description if you are thinking about buying a set.

Hard Maple
That is just awesome.
