Do you by any chance know the manufacture date? I own the number 2 prototype for the silverburst standard and was told that would make it the second ever silverburst SG ever made. Hearing your story makes me wonder if that might not be the case. Not that that would make me love it any less

Awesome guitar - thanks for sharing. I have one of the 2007 GOTW SG silverbursts. There were only 400 made and they're rare enough that I can't gauge an accurate value for mine because all of the online sales I've seen are more than a few years old. Anyway, It's a superb guitar but is easily the neck-diviest SG I've ever played. It has a tree trunk for a neck and Grover tuners - so every time I strap it on a black hole forms in the earth just below the headstock. Other than that - it's amazing.

A fat neck and Grovers will definitely make SG neck dive worse. Even the '61's with the lighter vintage tuners and slightly thinner necks will dive without the right strap. Guitar Center and Musicians Friend have silverburst SG Standards with ebony fingerboards again. Somewhat chunky necks and Grovers too.

I was just about to buy one of those.. but then I decided to get an Gibson sg special 120th anniversary. Massive difference between price but it feels much better than the silverburst

Some automotive cutting compound extra fine, buffed on with a wool pad by hand will cut the scratches put, once you have the scratches cut super fine POLISH THE SHIT OUT OF IT... THEN PUT AUTOMOTIVE Ceramic coating over the back of the guitar
You'll keep the scratches from coming back.
Don't use Emory cloth to polish frets. A heavy felt from a Drum beater and some light polish/compound works wonders, but you'd have to mask your fingerboard if you use a polish or compound on your frets. If you use just the raw felt - no big deal and the raw felt will clean and polish your frets. Friction buddy. Anyway hope this helps you feel a little less harsh about using that INSTRUMENT for what it's intended for. A guitar that you don't play because it's rare is worthless to me. The fact that you played it as a kid - like any other guitar you'd have come Across - makes it a much, more important guitar than if you'd bought it and left it jammed in a case tucked Away.
If it's a goddess- which we can't be certain of based on just the looks. But if you measure the nut width and depth it'll be even smaller than your standard 1 11/16th Gibson nut width.... old trogly just measured the neck of his sky bust goddess And it came in at 1 and 5/8ths... or the full fat sg of the time had 1 and 7/8ths nut width and sg goddess was 1 and 11/16ths... but the goddesses got smaller necks and body's when in the LP range and JUST a smaller neck on the sg.
