Gosh dang I need a man like that.

Let's be honest, this wasn't in your recommended. You searched for this
shhh
Yes I searched for this.
You have no idea how many times I’ve searched for this after having it recommended so yeah
yes!
Yes i did searched for this.
This is a small detail but I love that Princess Shelina isn’t jealous or upset. She’s happy for Kit to dance with someone he actually wants to because she’s probably not interested in an arranged marriage either.
Sameeee
I mean, she looks a little irritated at first-- She probably came to secure a marriage between their kingdoms, after all-- but after watching the two of them she's just like, "Well, damn. Can't blame him for that."
Great insight. :) I agree. Shows good breeding.
Same thoughts! :)
I think she was confused or irritated, then understands he might call it off for true love.
Or she's entranced by Cinderella, too
Fun fact: every reaction of the audience is true as this is their first time seeing the finished product. From her walking down the stairs to the acting.
Yes it was a one take type of thing!!!
My reaction would be the same. This scene is just to pretty ❤🤬🥲💅✨.
Yesss when they dance if you watch closely her step sisters smiling in awe. So cute when they broke character didnt even try to act villainous and jealous lool
@@EughhBrothereughhthat’s true. Even Cate Blanchett said that, in that moment, she couldn’t help but actually root for Ella. Good thing she’s a great actress and it didn’t look like she does lol
And all before the wonderful music was added by Scotsman Patrick Doyle... that's very good directing....
whoever wrote in that tiny gasp when he takes her waist really understands women.
True
Phryne Mnesarete this comment is just. Everything. So true. Thank you!
It makes her more human and less fairy tale. Love it
Very nice observation.
What waist?
The fact that she isn't wearing any jewelry beside a few sequins and glitter, and the dress is so simple - but might just possibly be one of the most beautiful blue dresses in all of cinema speaks wonders. This truly is the perfect fairy-tale movie, and the whole scene here was so fantastically done.
JustinTheGame sorry I’m a bit late to your comment. If you look at the dressmakers video she admits there’s crystals used in the scene by Cinderella not sequins
ruclips.net/video/2J-s-pXBX0E/видео.html
At like the 6 minute mark
Between thus dress and jasmines pink dress in the live action are my fav
There are literally 10,000 Swarovski crystals in the skirt of the dress LOL. Check the behind the scenes, it’s actually insane
Jessica H that’s what I posted the 6 minute mark is Ella actor talking about the dress. Didn’t know how to spell crystals name so I just wrote crystal
I have to cleanse my eyes with their chemistry and the masterpiece and elegance that is this scene after watching the Cinderella 2021 trailer. The part where she lets out a little gasp when he puts his hand on her waist still gives me shivers, it’s so such a small moment but it adds so much to the scene.
Same here
That’s why I’m here too😭
SAME
Me too.
We all had the same idea haha
This is hands down the BEST live action Disney film. It’s full of nostalgic, old-fashioned fairytale magic. It’s uplifting, beautiful, creative, and everything is so colorful. Saw it in theaters and the CGI effects were dazzling and gorgeous. The costumes by Sandy Powell are stunning. The soundtrack by Patrick Doyle is fantastic. The casting is perfect. The film also added depth to both Cinderella and Kit’s personalities. They share perfect chemistry here. Love it more than the original! 💙
Yeah, it's definitely the best live action Disney remake, but the bar for that title is so low that it's not saying a lot.
@@warrioroflight6872 Cinderella 2015 was special because there weren’t much live action Disney films at the time. As in, Disney didn’t create a high demand for them, and this is what made Cinderella so exciting and special to be released. Before Disney got crazy with making them. I think live actions can work if they’re done once every 5-10 years. You can tell a lot of quality was put into this one ❤️
Agreed... the last great Disney remake... even Aladdin & B&B cannot compare.
@@arepeacedz85 Agreed my friend…I DID enjoy The Little Mermaid a lot; that and Cinderella are my two favorite
I’m torn between the two versions. But I’m glad we agree this is the best remake so far
A scene for hopeless romantics everywhere.....
is it wierd that i get all teary watching this scene?😊😅
Derin Su we all do. We all wish it true to us
💗💖
Preach!
I bought a Cinderella dress for prom and I call my BF and I ask him to put on my glass slipper and dance with me all the time
TBH, the only Disney Live Action that did its movie justice.
Agreed
and beauty and the beast and aladdin that’s it
Unicorn sparkles sorry they have no warmth either and about as much enjoyment as watching paint dry.
Agreed. By far, this has been their most beautiful adaptation of an animated film. The others didn't capture the same magic this film has. Crossing my fingers for Mulan and The Little Mermaid tho.
Unicorn sparkles oh God, beauty and the beast was horrible, Aladdin I have yet to put a verdict cause I haven’t watched
I love how the childhood song is played during her descent down the staircase - it shows how even though she's been transformed on the outside, her spirit and kindness relayed to her by her parents' love is brought with her in every moment. Beautiful movie.
Also a tribute to her mom! She is bringing her dress and spirit to the ball after all :)
Exceptional movie. Lily James gives a phenomenal performance, perfectly balancing between the essential "theatrical" acting the period & Disney request and the realistic portrayal of an abused girl with a heart full of dreams in the 1700s. Cinderella is often called 'weak' but she's truly a role model for young girls. No prince "saved her", she suffered emotional abuse and neglect, but she still managed to keep fighting, hoping and maintaining her ability of forgiveness and purity. She's a survivor, she's a dreamer, and we should never call those things "weaknesses".
You said it perfectly
Love your comment
The fact that Lily's audition for the movie at first was for one of the Stepsisters and ended up being the title character is amazing. Lily is exactly how I imagine a live action Cinderella should be
It's actually more probable it's based on 1800s (the gowns really remind European 1850s/1860s, and inside Ella's home we can see a Japanese room, typical in the late 1800s) than 1700s, but still, yeah...
This is one of many reasons that Cinderella remains my favorite fairytale, and Lily James' portrayal of the titular character is exactly how I imagine the character today with adult hindsight. The 1950's Disney film is the first version of the tale I remember watching as a child in the 2000's and early 2010's. It's one of the first full-length Disney films I vividly remember watching period, including the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast (which is my mother's favorite), and The Little Mermaid. I didn't understand the meaning of the tale until I started reading fan-fiction adaptations of the rags to riches story and rewatching the two Disney films as a teenager and now adult.
and this is why ladies and gentlemen, i have unrealistic expectations about relationships.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yep
Truuuee
I understand.
Same, that and starkid/tcb.-.
The ONLY live action Disney film that did the original justice and was even an improvement in some areas.
overall yes, this is definitely the best remake, but I do like the additions to Jasmine's storyline in Aladdin, and Speechless is a fantastic song too!
This or Maleficent, in my opinion.
ahem, cruella?
@@whos.rafael Cruella was a spin-off of 101 Dalmatian and made 6 years after this film
YES. Throughout the film I was just mesmerized. They still managed to keep the magical Disney fantasy and added little things that even made it better than the original version. This is the only good Disney live-action remake in my opinion.
ella: "they're all looking at you."
kit: "believe me. they're all looking at you."
ahhh i specifically love this dialogue because it just shows how humble and non-conceited these two are, which really makes them a perfect match for each other 🥺💙
I love how when Cinderella and Kit were dancing they looked like as if they were falling in love with each other more. Cinderella smiling at the feeling of experiencing something she never felt a long time while whilst falling in love with the prince and the prince is just admiring her beauty--never taking his eyes of her. This is such a beautiful way of portraying what falling in love feels like, Disney nailed this one.
Yea
Then I remembered Lily James admitting that she almost fell in love with him at that moment.
She is Lily James.
@@jazmineseverino1363 crap. Let me fix that.

I think Kit never wanted her to address him as the Prince.
Loving the fact that the princess Kit was supposed to marry looks at Ella in admiration and not jealousy. She recognizes how incredible they are together with just a look and that's really beautiful to me
This is what the 2021 Cinderella is lacking, it’s ok to be graceful and beautiful. You could feel their genuine happiness.
But it supports pride and blacks that's more important than making a good movie🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🤡🤡🤡
EXACTLY
I can’t be the only one smiling like an idiot through out the scene 😂
you are not
😂
A princess night trust me. You definitely are not alone.
You aren’t every time I rewatch her coming down the stairs I break out into a big smile.
no the prince is too
I’m just glad they gave the prince a personality in this movie unlike the cartoon version
yeah true!
100% agree, the Prince was so much more in this movie, you saw him more on screen, I loved the way the Prince and Cinderella met before the ball this time
@LagiNaLangAko23 true! There was absolutely no character development for Snow White's prince
I mean Cinderella 3 was funny but this is accurate
@LagiNaLangAko23 yeah I had to look on the wiki. Florian did bull all XD
The part where her grabs her by the waist and she gasps with surprise was Lily James’s natural reaction. The director liked it so he kept it in the film
I have watched this scene many times, and one thing that I didn't exactly recognize at first but adds so much to this scene is that Lily James is mic'd through the dance. You can hear her breathing, the little giggle, the dress swishing around. You're not watching her from the side of the room, you are with her for every step. It's magical, and a very subtle but fantastic choice by the director.
Her dress is divine, it looks like clouds and sky, shout out to the dress maker.
The costume designer was Sandy Powell, who has in her 30 years in the industry earned an amazing 12 Oscar nominations for Best Costume Design, and has won three of them. Incredible, isn't she?
TheShillNecked Lizard She deserved one for this movie.
@@priyaravindran6150 she has
@@priyaravindran6150 i agree with the fact that this costume design is absolutely stunning, but, however in my opinion Mad Max: Fury Road deserved the Oscar they got for their costume design that year, which was absofuckinglutely amazing and cool. but everybody has a different opinion anyway, so dont take this to seriously (Cinderella was up against Mad Max in the 2016 Oscars)
Her dress also resembles the ocean blues that sways like the wave as they dance.
Oh when the prince said " believe me they are all looking at you" i melted. He said it so beautifully.
And the way he walks to her... That's... That's my dream

@@johannaderda1499 And the music oh God it makes it even better
And you can hear Richard Madden's accent underneath it he so wasn't acting it's so cute
I couldn't help seeing it as a little less wholesome, when she assumed the word dance, I could just tell he was looking at her like he was hungry to love her madly.
Not only that, he says pretty much everything to extend the sentence. He’s completely awestruck
Let's be honest, this is not your first time watching this.
It won't be my last either XD
Ahsoka Tano I can get behind this kind of honesty.
Absolutely, I still can't get enough with the magical feeling.
didn't need to expose me like that
It is also not my last time
The fact that she's looking around 'til she saw him is beautiful, she was looking for him from the beginning. I love it!
Lily James has that ineffable quality that can't be faked. Innocence, kindness, sweetness - all rolled into what we could call the inner Divinity that we all have. She radiates it more that most other actors I can remember.
I love how in this live action movie, they actually give prince charming a name and a personality
The Prince is so much more in this film, he had more screen time, much more likeable I think to and I like the way he and Cinderella met before the ball this time
yeah, they're gonna make a movie just for him
Ik as opposed to a random prince in a random kingdom, i love that they had fleshed his character out so much now you can see that he was certainly someone you'd wanna marry
@ what sequels is that? Are they made by disney as well?
YESSS
i don’t actually know her name but i love how that “exotic princess” didn’t scowl or show disdain towards cinderella for capturing the prince’s attention.
facts
her name is princess shelina
Literally just thinking this as well!
The character of the Spanish princess is meant to be an audience surrogate. (Yes, I know, there's always got to be 'that person' in the comments, so here I am XD ) She's providing a lens through which we are viewing the developing romance between Ella and Kit. She's intrigued and happy for them, so we do the same.
Yepp
I also really like the relationship between the prince and the king. Mutual affection. Not common to see fathers and sons shown that way in a movie.
I know! The death scene with them broke my heart.
I just realized that the prince was the only one to see through her disguise spell, seeing Elle for who she really is and loving it.
Honestly I’m just incredibly impressed that he pulled off those lifts so well, between lifting her and the VERY heavy dress that’s quite a feat of strength well done sir
Betsy Schugar actually the designer said that this dress was quite light
It’s should be around 8 kg or round about 15lb, given the Material. Tull is not very dense and rather light. The skirt would behave very differently if it weren’t. Anyway, it’s probably still rather difficult, given the circumference of the skirt.
I guess all that Game of Thrones training came in handy then lol
And she really dance still wearing that glass shoes.. so amazed
wicked wonderland not tulle , organza, you can see it
Not once does he ever look at her body. He acknowledges her gown and how stunning it is but in every scene, he is looking directly into her eyes and god if that isnt the most beautiful thing idk what is
Michael Coleman well said😭
Michael Coleman is it that uncommon? I mean, is manners 101 for men, even teens and preteens. not to stare at a woman’s chest in public.
Do you really think that all men just stare at a woman's body because no,that's not how life works XD. We are also thought to be respectfull you know.

How could anyone design a dress as beautiful as that. It brings the fairy tale to life.
There isnt a single flaw in this movie. Perfect casting, excellent cgi, breathtaking costumes, everything was so good! This deserves a lot more recognition
fyi, the ballroom isn't CGI. They literally built it in a huge studio.
Rucita Jetta im referring to entirety of the movie, not just this scene
I agree, this movie is beautiful. The only thing is that I wanted to see more of her pet mice and Lucifer ☺️

Who could blame him tho? If I danced with my s/o looking beautiful like a fairy tale royalty, I'd probably burst into tears too :'D
That's why I love the utterly gobsmacked look on the face of the Prince (played by Richard Chamberlain) when he first catches sight of Cinderella in "The Slipper And The Rose". It is the look of a man who's fallen head over heels in love at first sight and is completely smitten.

Honestly, the best moment for me in this is the King's face. Sir Derek Jacobi conveys so much with those five seconds of silence, and it always tugs at my heart.
And the score is simply sublime. Patrick Doyle is a genius, and this is a perfect example of why.

I love how despite the beautiful music in the background and how loud it is, we are still able to hear Lily’s dress move, and hear her breathing and little giggles. I’ve seen many movies that took out those sounds entirely and it really makes the scene so much better since they didn’t.
It’s just good sound editing
Agreed this movie is magnificent I'm glad they worked as hard as they did for this because every detail makes it even more beautiful
there's a small moment during the waltz where kit pulls her back into his hold and you can her ella's small close gasp. it's such a small details but i love how much it enhanced their chemistry. like for a VERY pg movie with a surprisingly limited shared screen time between the leads they really did wonders to make every single scene they share filled with romantic tension. it's so tangible!
@@blackroomred fr you heard it too, it was a small but amazing touch added 😭😭😍😍I'm in love with this goddam movie 😭😭

Her delight, his delight, his shyness and giddiness, her wonder and purity, his "Believe me, they"re looking at you", that gasp when he puts his hand on her waist, her giggle during the twirls and their wonderful smiles, that is the epitome of a romantic scene. And then there is the divine music!
Plus: The admiration of an equally beautiful woman on and the wonderful clothes.

I absolutely love this disney live action movie. I love that they gave the prince a personality and they met and had chemistry before the ballroom scene. And wow, I love how they created this scene. Ella’s dress is so simple and she isn’t even wearing any jewellery, only some glitter and sequins. But she still manages to capture everyone’s attention.
She stands out because of her simplicity.
I don't know how many times I watched this scene. I love it. Everything about it is magical. It's so sweet watching them fall in love with each other during that dance.
Cinderella was the only live action movie I ever really fell in love with or that I didn’t mind it was a live action remake. I didn’t see a single flaw in this. It was simply beautiful.
I remember leaving class early to watch this before it was released in theaters and I just loved it. They made Ella more kind and loving and her dress is so beautiful. They changed the story a little bit but for better.
This movie was absolutely incredibly well done, the small changes they made (ex, Cinderella meeting the prince before the ball and the Prince having much more screen time etc...) in my opinion brang the movie more to life, made it more realistic and much more enjoyable to watch
I cried throughout the whole movie! Its just perfect! 😭😭😭
@@TaeThei I certainly found it very touching heartwarming movie to watch x
I think the reason why it works better than the others is that it's a less direct remake than the others; true, the core story is the same as the 1950 film (as both are based on the same fairy tale), but the live action film is sufficiently different to the animated film that it stands on its own two feet (and thus isn't constantly compared to the original).
You know it’s a Disney movie because any other mortal would have absolutely tripped down those stairs in that dress, just a giant beautiful sparkly blue snowball. 😭

My favorite part of this scene is when they first speak to each other, the way the prince is in awe of her beauty and is so flustered that he can barely talk. Also note that he was looking straight into her eyes the whole time and not her body, that's what makes this scene so special to me.
Not only that, the Prince is pretty much choosing the girl he is going to spend his life with. 😢😢😢
She looks at his body though, just a glance but it's there
You're so right; I hadn't really noticed that before. This scene is so special to me too. It's as though we're peeking in on these two caring, loving people, experiencing love at first sight & it's so palpable. I've watched this scene many times over because of how it makes my heart feel & it's artistry. It's also incredible how they encircle each other on their horses through most of the scene, which couldn't have been easy at all & yet, they make it look effortless; And that feels a bit like a dance between the two of them too.
Loleena 056 he saw her when she was getting downstairs. Don’t worry
@Loleena056. I totally agree! My favorite scene.
I love how the blue eyes of the prince resembles the shade of Cinderella's stunning gown
I swear everything in this scene was just perfect. His little nervous smiles were just too perfect. And he just couldn’t stop complimenting her it was just adorable how neither could stop smiling. Like every single smile made you just smile and blush. Heck we all need a fairytale like this
The most romantic dance scene of any movie. Pure chivalry at its finest.

The way he looked at her when he said, “it would give me the greatest pleasure if you would do me the honor of letting me lead you to this.... the first.... 😳😳”
Absolutely incredible the way he looks at her when he says that, you really see true love in his eyes and you see it reflected back in hers and another thing I love is even when she realises hes the Prince she refers to him as Mr Kit to.
One of the things I admire most about this scene is that all of the dresses in the background are absolutely stunning, and yet Lily's dress still manages to capture your attention immediately.
Exactly! If you watch the BTS you'll see that all the extras were wearing extravagant dresses and jewelry borrowed specially for the scene and yet Ella easily stands out from them and the golden ballroom thanks to God mother's dress. It's soooo good
Colour grading.
@@abigaildiamante9096 Every dress in the background are deck in jewelry but it manages to make them blend in the background, making them unnoticeable. The color pallet of most of the dresses in the background are also too similar to one another making it even more blending with the background. Cinderella's dress is simple but unique because of its simplicity, lack of jewelry, and having a vibrant color than the rest, making it stand out within the ballroom. Now that's a great costume design and I have to give applause to the costume designer of this movie.
I will die on the hill that this is the best Disney live action remake. There's a ton of reasons why and this scene makes me smile every time I see it.
The Ball scene is probably my favorite scene from any movie ever. I can and do watch it over and over. It's what dreams are made of. Absolutely fantastic. I don't care what anyone says, the dress reveal and this first dance are exactly the reason Beauty and the Beast fails for me. This captured the magical side of the animated fairy tale whilst giving a lot more character interaction and chemistry between them. Belle's live action dress was such a let down and there was no "wow" factor. And yet I hear ANOTHER Cinderella remake is on its way which is just so unnecessary. Why not Sleeping Beauty or The Princess and the Frog?
LaurieJ oooo yes! Princess and the frog...! Don’t make another sleeping beauty!
@@hakushoku0129 but i dont want to see two animated frogs for an hour and a half
@@dinofashionicon8364 well....you do have a point...😔 yeah...lets leave Princess and the frog as animation....
So...what else can be animated?? Pocahontas?
@@hakushoku0129 honestly maybe it’s time to be done with these, but if we had to choose, Pocahontas isn’t a bad idea. They could make it more historically accurate or whatnot. I would also be up for seeing an adaptation of the Cinderella sequels with Lily James as even Maleficent got a live action sequel for seemingly no reason.
@@clarkstrange2142 Pocahontas is also a good choice, but I’ve had it with live versions...I want disney to make more new originals
I'm here to clean my eyes after watching Cinderella 2021
Didn’t even know there was another. It must have been that cringeworthy
This scene is better than the entire shitfest that 2021 movie was
The chemistry is much even better when we realize those eyes of them are like in tears due to their astonishment!
I love how this scene preserves the charm and innocence that the character of Cinderella has always been associated with. Hardly any excessive dramatization. Simplicity truly is the hallmark of genius.

This dress needs its own Oscar for best supporting actress, cuz she did her things
That little gasp at when the prince finally held her full during the dance is 💕
I loved how happy she was. She was even giggling. Emma hardly smiled in the BATB ball scene.
Richard Madden could rip me to shreds and I’d say thank you
Agreed
Sammi Olson this made me laugh😂😂
Fuck yes
Is this the famous thirst tweet
same 😂
Even the princess from Spain fell in love with Cinderella in this scene

This is one of most beautiful scenes in cinematic history. And magical.
The music, the choreography, the gorgeous bright blue dress next to the amber ballroom just brings it all together
I dont understand why this movie wasn’t praised more. This scene is breathtaking. I’ve never seen a live action fairy tale nail a dress so perfectly. It’s literally the most beautiful gown I have ever seen and far exceeded my expectations
I liked the color and the general look, but it seemed a little too heavy. Especially when the prince lifted her that second time, the dress seemed to go limp to me. The color though, is absolutely the most amazing shade of blue I have ever seen.
@Beep Beep Sure. But compared to other gowns I've seen, I just felt that it was too evident that it was heavy when he lifted her.
I used to work at a bridal store and we had a replica of this dress shipped in and i unpackaged it steamed it, and placed it on the mannequin. It was not made with the same material as the one on the film ofcourse but the replica had layers of tool and very light weight organza. the original gown is actually quite lighter than it looks the top layer of the gown is silk crepeline, very thin light weight silk. The layers underneath are made up of a synthetic called yumissima, a light, expensive material or so google says lol
Kenneth Branagh always makes beautiful films. This is actually the only live action remake I’ve liked so far because I think it’s different enough from the original and actually adds a lot of great new things. It improves upon it, it’s not just a dull copy with 10 mins of forgettable additions
@Beep Beep the under skirts and i caught a glimps of the hoop skirt aswell. Weighed atleast 20 pound's.
I know this is a movie, and I know they are actors. But the look in Kits eyes as he dances with her is unbelievable. Like he's just seen the meaning of the universe and it's this girl standing in front of him. The pure love and joy that emanates from him and her is astounding. This movie is SO underrated
Mackenzie Abbott what a beautiful movie is it in
Mackenzie Abbott - Ya got the wrong Stark brother there hun...
Junichi S. The name of the prince is Kit
This is an unbelievably underrated live action remake. I love it!
Junichi S. ... kinda thought the same for a moment xD only ever watched Game of Thrones and watching this clip cause of Richard Madden^^
Let's be honest... we have all imagined us dancing like that..😂😂
This scene makes me wish I saw the movie in the theater! It would have been so magical to see it on the big screen.
I personally did, and it was magical ;;
Facts!
Her reaction when the Prince touches her waist to dance is so pure and looks so real! ❤️

Helps that the dress was so tight she couldn't breathe.

My favorite part was when she says "Mister Kit!" -- The little girl did not go to the palace for the prince, but for her friend Mister Kit, the boy that she loves.

That is so 50 shades of Grey
THIS is how you make the rightful adaptations. This scene seems so magical and dreamy. Also the dress just literally flawless and breathtaking. Lily james also a perfect fit to play cinderella ❤
I have to watch this for a reset after seeing cinderella 2021
